He was the 2008 EuroLeague Rising Star
Ex-Milan forward Danilo Gallinari announces his retirement

Danilo Gallinari, formerly of EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, officially announced his retirement from basketball on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old, who spent parts of three seasons in the EuroLeague with Milan, was named the 2008 EuroLeague Rising Star.
"Today, with a heart full of gratitude, I am announcing my retirement from the career I’ve always dreamed of," Gallinari announced on X. "It’s been an incredible journey filled with countless memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart."
Gallinari made his EuroLeague debut for Milan on November 17, 2005, in a Round 3 clash against Prokom Trefl Sopot in the 2005-06 campaign.
His next EuroLeague appearance came two seasons later, in 2007-08, which is where he announced himself to the world by averaging 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 11 games for Milan. That season, the Italian was rewarded for his play with the Rising Star award.
The New York Knicks selected Gallinari with the sixth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, which saw him switch Milan for the Big Apple. However, a few years later, he did play one more season in the EuroLeague by featuring seven times for Milan during the 2011 NBA lockout. Through the first seven games of the 2011-12 EuroLeague season, Gallinari posted 16.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists for the Little Red Shoes.
He spent a total of 16 years in the NBA, playing in 14 seasons – and missing two others with torn ACLs – for the Knicks (2008-11), Denver Nuggets (2011-17), Los Angeles Clippers (2017-19), Oklahoma City Thunder (2019-20), Atlanta Hawks (2020-22), Washington Wizards (2023-24), Detroit Pistons (2023-24), and Milwaukee Bucks (2023-24).
