Cedi Osman has returned to the EuroLeague after seven years in the NBA by joining reigning EuroLeague champion Panathinaikos BC.

Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens has confirmed the signing of NBA veteran [Cedi Osman](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/cedi-osman/004088/) on a one-year deal, the club confirmed on Saturday.

Osman (2.01 meters, 29 years old) has spent the last seven years in the NBA. Last season, his first campaign away from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Turkish international averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 72 games as a bench player for the San Antonio Spurs.

Overall, Osman has played 495 games in the NBA over the last seven seasons, with 423 coming in a Cleveland jersey. In his first season in the association, he was part of the Cavaliers squad – alongside the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Love and J.R. Smith – that reached the 2018 NBA Finals.

His best NBA campaign came in the 2018-19 season, the first after James’s departure, as he averaged career highs in points (13.0 ppg.) and rebounds (4.7 rpg.) in 76 regular-season games as a full-time starter. Osman remained a key player for the Cavs throughout the rest of his time in Cleveland, although he was a regular bench player in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.

EuroLeague Weekly: Focus on Cedi Osman, Anadolu Efes Istanbul

By moving to Panathinaikos, Osman not only returns to Europe but also to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Having come through at Anadolu Efes Istanbul, the 29-year-old made his EuroLeague debut for the club in the 2013-14 campaign before going on to feature 13 times for the club that year. He averaged 3.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in 11:38 minutes per night.

The following season, he helped Efes reach the EuroLeague Playoffs, posting 6.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 27 games. Efes ended up losing in four games to Real in the playoffs. In 2015-16, Osman averaged 7.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 23 appearances for Efes, but the team failed to make the playoffs.

His final year in the EuroLeague before heading to the United States saw Efes return to the playoffs, with Osman averaging 7.1 points and 2.8 rebounds in 35 games. However, Efes lost in a five-game series to Olympiacos Piraeus.

At Panathinaikos, he joins a side that is looking to win back-to-back EuroLeague titles after the Greens ended their 13-year wait to become European champion last season. A Turkish Airlines EuroLeague legend has received the ultimate honor from the club he represented throughout the majority of his career. [Georgios Printezis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/georgios-printezis/amm/), a lifelong Olympiacos Piraeus fan, got his No. 15 jersey retired by the Reds on Friday, September 6.

It is just the second number Olympiacos has ever retired. ### Author of one of the EuroLeague's greatest moments

Printezis and Spanoulis delivered one of the most iconic plays in EuroLeague history. Down by one in the 2012 championship game and with a few seconds left, Spanoulis found a wide-open Printezis near the baseline. Printezis hit his trademark one-handed floater with 0.7 left, giving Olympiacos a 61-62 lead against CSKA Moscow. When CSKA did not score on the final play, Olympiacos had completed a 19-point comeback in the final 12 minutes to win its second EuroLeague title and its first in 15 years.

Printezis's jersey retirement celebration was the highlight of the night, labelled as "A Moment to Remember", at Peace and Friendship Stadium. It also featured a friendly game between Olympiacos and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, and a gala dinner on Thursday night full of basketball VIPs.

A true EuroLeague icon, Printezis retired from the game of basketball in June 2022 after 20 years as a professional. Printezis played 17 seasons for Olympiacos in three different stints, interrupted by a one-season stop with Olimpia Larissa of Greece in 2006-07 and two with Unicaja Malaga of Spain between 2009 and 2011.

### A bona fide legend

His last stint started with a bang as Printezis helped the Reds win back-to-back EuroLeague titles in 2012 and 2013. They went on to reach two more EuroLeague championship games together, in 2015 and 2017. They also shared two other Final Four appearances, in 2009 and 2022, for a total of six touching three different decades.

Printezis was voted in 2020 to the EuroLeague All-Decade team by fans, media, coaches and his fellow players. From 2010 to 2020, he ranked fourth among all EuroLeague players in total performance index rating (2,916), and fifth in both scoring (2,696 points) and rebounds (1,117). He was one of just two players to register 2,500 points and 1,000 rebounds in the 2010s.

He was also chosen to the 2016-17 All-EuroLeague First Team. All-time, and despite retiring two years ago, Printezis ranks sixth in games played (375), ninth in scoring (3,599 points), 10th in rebounds (1,452) and 13th in PIR (3,818).

Outside of his EuroLeague successes, Printezis helped Olympiacos win four Greek League titles – in 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2022 – and two Greek Cup trophies, in 2011 and 2022. Printezis also won the 2013 Intercontinental Cup with Olympiacos and helped the Greek national team take a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2009.

Summer ended early for the Euroleague Basketball family of referees with the 33rd Clinic for Euroleague Basketball Officials last weekend. The four-day-long event, which began on August 29, saw the men and women who will oversee the games this season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and the BKT EuroCup meet for physicals, rules discussions and analyses, breakout sessions and much more in Zagreb, Croatia.

Zagreb hosted the annual Clinic for Euroleague Basketball Officials

Some 68 referees were on hand for the clinic, including four newcomers: Manuel Attard of Italy, Stefan Calic of Serbia, Sergio Manuel of Spain and Christian Theis of Germany. This marked the second such clinic under the guidance of Daniel Hierrezuelo as Euroleague Basketball Director of Officiating.

“The annual clinic is essential for maintaining the high standards we expect at Euroleague Basketball. It’s not just about the rules but about sharing knowledge and experiences, fostering teamwork, preparing mentally and physically, and ultimately delivering the best officiating for the league,” Hierrezuelo stated.

The list of experts invited to lecture at the clinic featured Euroleague Basketball President Dejan Bodiroga, former Euroleague Basketball Senior Director of Officiating Mr. Costas Rigas, Spanish national team head coach Sergio Scariolo, Euroleague Head Coaches Board President and former EuroLeague champion Dimitris Itoudis, Euroleague Head Coaches Board Executive Director Goran Sasic, ELPA Head of Player Relations Walter Jeklin, sports psychologist Mar Rovira, and physical trainer Gianluca Mazzoncini.

There were lectures on IRS reviews and rule changes for the coming season. The referees also met in smaller groups to dive deeper into video analysis, proper mechanics on the court, injury prevention, and self-improvement, among other topics. Each official also underwent eye exams, fitness checkups and rules tests. And by the end of the clinic, they were all better prepared for the exciting season that awaits!

One of the most legendary players to ever grace the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague has decided to hang up his sneakers. "Today I officially announce my retirement from professional basketball. A career that started in 2008, I could have never imagined that basketball would have taken me this far. When I didn't get drafted, what I thought would be one of the biggest disappointments in my life turned out to be my biggest blessing... Coming to Europe gave me the opportunity to grow as a person, it allowed me to compete at the highest level. It allowed to become a competitor, a leader, and a champion. Off the court, it has given me the opportunity to travel the world, meet so many great people and share in some amazing moments that will last a lifetime.

### A EuroLeague legend

The 37-year-old, who played for four clubs across a 14-season stretch in the EuroLeague, went out on a high, too, after lifting the Italian League championship with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan on Thursday night. That is his third straight Italian League title, while he helped the team win the Italian Cup in 2020-21 and 2021-22, as well as the Italian Super Cup in 2019-20. The veteran big man was also a key factor in guiding Milan back to the EuroLeague Final Four in 2021, ending the club’s 29-year wait to return to European basketball’s showpiece event.

Hines made his EuroLeague debut with Brose Bamberg in 2010-11, then spent two seasons at Olympiacos Piraeus (2011-13), seven campaigns with CSKA Moscow (2013-20), and four years with Milan (2020-24). In that time, he became a EuroLeague champion on four occasions – in back-to-back years with Olympiacos in 2012 and 2013, before lifting the trophy in 2016 and 2019 with CSKA. Then, in 2020, Milan’s No. 42 was selected to the EuroLeague 2010–20 All-Decade Team.

Renowned for his play on the defensive end of the floor, Hines was chosen as the recipient of the EuroLeague Best Defender award three times – in 2015-16, 2017-18 and 2021-22 – and holds the all-time record for games played with 425 EuroLeague appearances. He ranks fifth in all-time minutes (8,789:32), 11th in points (3,339), second in two-pointers made (1,332), first in offensive rebounds (824), eighth in defensive boards (1,031), second overall in rebounding (1,855), 11th in steals (287), third in blocks (320) and fifth in accumulated PIR (4,299).

It is not just in the EuroLeague where Hines has left his mark on European basketball. Domestically, Hines has lifted 18 trophies during his illustrious career. While his EuroLeague start came with Bamberg in 2010-11, he spent the first two years of his professional career with Veroli in the Italian second tier. There, he twice won the Italian Second Division Cup (2008-09, 2009-10) before moving on to Bamberg, where he secured the German League, German Cup and German Super Cup titles. In Greece with Olympiacos, Hines was part of the team that won the 2011-12 Greek League title, then at CSKA he lifted six VTB League titles between 2014 and 2019. Now in Italy, Hines has three Italian League titles to his name, as well as two Italian Cup triumphs and one Italian Super Cup.

Last season was Napier's second stint with Milan in as many years. He made 12 EuroLeague appearances for the club in the 2022-23 season, in which he averaged 15.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals. 

The American point guard helped Milan win back-to-back Italian League titles in the last two seasons. Napier started the 2023-24 EuroLeague campaign with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, averaging 9.8 points and 2.3 assists in 12 EuroLeague games.

Napier began his professional career in the NBA with the Miami Heat in the 2014-15 season and went on to play a total of 354 games in the association, having also suited up for the Orlando Magic (2015-16), Portland Trail Blazers (2016-18), Brooklyn Nets (2018-19) and then both the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Washington Wizards in the 2019-20 campaign.

The 2024-25 edition of the EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge, the official fantasy game of the EuroLeague, is now active.

The EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge is back and better than ever

Fans of the [EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge](https://fantasychallenge.page.link/game) are in for a treat heading into the 2024-25 season. Several improvements have been made to the overall experience, which should bring fantasy managers even closer to the action.

On Wednesday, September 4, the official fantasy game of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague goes live. That gives fantasy managers just under a month to get their team – or teams – ready ahead of the 2024-25 EuroLeague season getting underway on Thursday, October 3.

For those familiar with the EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge, the basic will remain the same. Fantasy managers get 100 credits per team to build a squad of four guards, four forwards, two centers and one head coach. Teams will earn points each round based on the performances of their players in the actual Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games in that round. Managers can make a limited number of player swaps after each round. And the best teams are eligible to win prizes!

Last year saw the introduction of a new stats page and unlimited player swaps after certain rounds. Fantasy managers can make unlimited alterations to their rosters during the postseason, too, starting with the Play-In Showdown before continuing through the playoffs and Final Four.

So what is new for the 2024-25 season? The app and website have been given a makeover, offering an updated look and feel that is in line with the thrills and spills of the EuroLeague season. There has been an adjustment made to trades, too. Ahead of each round, excluding those where unlimited trades are available, fantasy managers can either trade four players and retain their manager, or they can trade three players and change their manager.

There’s more. Players whose teams had their game postponed will no longer have their score doubled if they are selected as the captain; this avoids a situation where a fantasy manager can guarantee a certain number of points from that player. There are also new dates for unlimited trades:

1. After Round 4: October 19-23
2. After Round 10: November 16-20
3. After Round 17: December 21-26
4. After Round 22: January 18-23
5. After Round 26: February 8-27

Last but not least, EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge managers can converse with one another for the first time by joining a WhatsApp or Telegram group called League Chat, with the administrator able to add the link for both private and public leagues.

The list of available prizes for the 2024-25 season includes tickets to games, official EuroLeague jerseys and basketballs, subscriptions to EuroLeague TV and more, highlighted by the grand prize: a VIP Package for the winner and a friend to attend the 2025 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four, including flights, four hotel nights and VIP tickets.

Abalde (2.02 meters, 28 years old) has spent the last four years with *Los Blancos*, helping the team reach three consecutive Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Games and wining the EuroLeague crown in 2023.

 

Last season, Abalde appeared in 24 games, posting 3.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in limited action. He also averaged 5.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in the Spanish League, helping the team win the domestic championship. Over the last four years, Abalde also helped Real Madrid win the Spanish League in 2022 and Spanish Cup last season.

 

Prior to his time in Madrid, Abalde played with Valencia Basket from 2017 to 2020. That is where he made his EuroLeague debut in 2017, helping the team win the EuroCup title in 2019. Abalde grew up with Joventut Badalona, which is where he made his professional debut in 2013, and has also spent as a teenager with CB Prat in Spanish lower divisions. Abalde has also been a member of the Spanish national team.

Olympiacos adds star guard Evan Fournier to backcourt 

Olympiacos Piraeus bolstered its backcourt by signing shooting guard Evan Fournier to a two-year deal, the club announced Monday. 

Fournier (1.98 meters, 31 years old) arrives from the Detroit Pistons, where he averaged 7.2 points and 1.6 assists in 29 NBA games last season. He started the 2023-24 campaign with the New York Knicks. Fournier began his career in his native France where he suited up for INSEP, JSF Nanterre and Union Poitiers Basket 86. A first-round pick by the Denver Nuggets in the 2012 NBA Draft, he played for the Nuggets, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic before joining the Knicks. In 704 NBA regular season games, Fournier averaged 13.6 points and 2.5 assists. He took part in 19 playoff games, too, in which he posted 11.7 points.

Fournier has also been a regular member of the French national team for more than a decade. He has helped Les Bleus win back-to-back Olympic silver medals in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. Fournier also won the silver medal at EuroBasket 2022 and respective bronze medals at the 2014 and 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cups and EuroBasket 2015. Fournier has scored 1,329 points in 118 games with the French national team. He now faces a new challenge in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with Olympiacos.

Yurtseven (2.11 meters, 26 years old) has spent the last three seasons playing in the NBA. In the 2023-24 campaign, he averaged 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 48 games for the Utah Jazz.

The Turkish center spent the previous two campaigns with the Miami Heat, playing a total of 65 games.

For Yurtseven, his arrival at Panathinaikos signifies his return to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, where he suited up 11 times for Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul across the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

In the summer of 2016, Yurtseven decided to head to the United States in order to play for North Carolina State University. He stayed there for two years before transferring to Georgetown University, although he could not play until the 2019-20 season. He remained at Georgetown for one year.

Yurtseven spent the 2020-21 campaign with the G League team of the Oklahoma City Thunder, then got his NBA career underway with the Heat. Now, eight years after leaving Fenerbahce, the Turkiye international is back in the EuroLeague.

KK Partizan has announced its roster for the 2024-25 EuroLeague season, with 14 new signings being unveiled to the club's fans at an event in Belgrade on Monday.

Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade fans have had to wait patiently with regard to the make-up of the team’s 2024-25 roster.

There have been more than a dozen departures from the club this summer, with only center Balsa Koprivica remaining with the team from the previous season. During an event in the Serbian capital on Monday night, Partizan unveiled the players that will be representing the team in the coming season.

In total, 14 new signings have landed at Partizan – and three were already known. They are, of course, [Vanja Marinkovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/partizan-brings-vanja-marinkovic-home/), [Iffe Lundberg](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/partizan-puts-iffe-lundberg-into-backcourt/) and [Frank Ntilikina](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/frank-ntilikina-returns-to-europe-joins-kk-partizan/).

The other 11 were revealed and introduced to those in attendance for the sold-out event. Four of the players – [Brandon Davies](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/brandon-davies/007870/), [Sterling Brown](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/sterling-brown/012720/), [Isaac Bonga](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/isaac-bonga/006760/) and [Tyrique Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tyrique-jones/011981/) – have all joined from other Turkish Airlines EuroLeague clubs.

One player has made the jump from the BKT EuroCup to the EuroLeague, as [Isiaha Mike](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/isiaha-mike/011836/) has joined Partizan after earning All-EuroCup First Team honors and leading JL Bourg en Bresse to the EuroCup Finals.

[Carlik Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/kk-partizan-signs-south-sudan-star-carlik-jones/), South Sudan’s star at the 2024 Olympic Games, has arrived after playing in the United States and China. Partizan fans can look forward to seeing a Serbian national team player in [Aleksej Pokusevski](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/aleksej-pokusevski/008232/), who has returned to the EuroLeague after four years in the NBA. The club has also brought in [Duane Washington Jr.](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/kk-partizan-plugs-in-combo-guard-duane-washington/), a combo-guard who will play in Europe for the first time in his professional career.

There are a couple of players joining from fellow ABA League teams, too, as [Mario Nakic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/mario-nakic/007632/) and [Arijan Lakic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/ngt/players/arijan-lakic/007736/) have signed for Partizan.

A couple of youngsters have been included in Partizan’s first-team plans as well, with ANGT star [Mitar Bosnjakovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/ngt/players/mitar-bosnjakovic/012167/) arriving from Real Madrid, and [Aleksa Dimitrijevic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/ngt/players/aleksa-dimitrijevic/012463/) also being given a spot on the roster.
