“We slowed down a little bit and it almost cost us the win. We started not being aggressive at both ends. In the end, either team could have won, but I am happy that our captain [Edgaras Ulanovas] and our team showed big character and we won. We are very happy [about beating Virtus Segafredo Bologna and Milan on the road in the double-round week]. We played against two great teams with great coaches and big names. It was a good week for us.
“Congratulations to our team. We won against a big name and good coach and good players. We controlled the game for almost three quarters. Just at the end, we lost control both offensively and defensively. We were just waiting for the end of the game and defensively we had possibilities to be aggressive and use team fouls, but we didn’t. And it almost cost us the win. But in the end, I am happy that we showed good character and we won the game.”
“We came back. We didn’t give up. We kept fighting. I can go home happy because [Stefano] Tonut played a very good game. That is very important for us going forward.
“Congratulations to Zalgiris. They played another good game. They are an extremely solid team playing at a Final Four level, meaning they will be in the playoffs. I wish that for them, because they are playing really solid offense and defense. [Kevarrius] Hayes, for example, was a huge presence. As for us, I am very happy about the comeback the team had in the fourth quarter. I go home with a lot of positive signs for Stefano Tonut, who finally broke the ice in his first year with us in Milan. For the rest… we had some bad moments in the game. And the reality is if we do not get something from everybody, even just two or three players who have problems for whatever reasons, it becomes very hard for us to compete with these good EuroLeague teams.”
“Our defense makes games so close for us. We kind of dropped down a bit and allowed them to get their confidence up. We really had to pull through and fight to get the win in the end. But I feel like a big part of my game is to offer that defensive energy to keep us going and also to get us started. We started really well and carried that on throughout the game. As the season goes on, you start to gel and you get to know your teammates’ tendencies and find each other. I feel like we’re very mature, controlled and know how the normal rhythm of a game goes.”
“We stopped in the fourth quarter and had a lot of improvisation [on offense], which didn’t help because we know that Milan has a good defensive team. They forced us to take tough shots, tough passes and make turnovers. But thank God we made the big shots at the end and also we grabbed a lot of offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter. It was very important. It was only fighting. The first half we played amazing; we shared the ball, driving the ball, creating shots for others. We stopped a little in the second half and made turnovers and offensive fouls. We started talking a bit with the referees. We lost our aggressiveness on offense. We need to be better.”
