Historic Houindo performance leads U18 Cedevita Olimpija past U18 Milan in NextGen Ulm opener

Cameron Houindo put on a show in the opening game of the Adidas NextGen EuroLeague Ulm qualifier, tying U18 Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana’s club record for points in a game with 33 in an 87-78 victory over last season’s NextGen runner-up, U18 EA7 Emporio Armani Milan. The Frenchman equaled the previous best mark set by Emir Sulejmanovic in 2013.
Despite Milan winning the first quarter 20-24, Cedevita Olimpija hit right back in the second to take a 50-42 lead into halftime. After 20 minutes, Hoindo sat on 20 points while his teammate Maks Ciperle – who finished with a 19-point, 14-rebound double-double – had 10 points at the interval. Cedevita Olimpija managed to hold off Milan in the third, taking a 71-59 advantage into the fourth, and it was a relatively comfortable end to the contest as the Slovenian side was up 17 (85-68) entering the final two minutes.
Ciperle also made a bit of history with his stat line, adding 6 assists and 3 blocks to his 19 points and 14 rebounds. He is just the fourth player in NextGen history to put up these numbers, following in the footsteps of Damien Inglis (2013), Amar Gegic (2016) and Sergio De Larrea (2022).
