Joventut Badalona has added [William Howard](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/william-howard/002534/) to its roster for the upcoming season, the club confirmed on Thursday. Howard (2.03 meters, 28 years old) joins from LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, where he averaged 6.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 21 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague matches last season.

Howard brings high-level experience with him to Joventut, having made 43 EuroLeague appearances for ASVEL in the last two seasons. He has also spent three seasons playing in the 7DAYS EuroCup, as he represented BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque (2013-14) and Limoges CSP (2017-18 and 2018-19) of his native France in the competition. Howard began his career with Gravelines-Dunkerque before going on to play for Denain Voltaire, Hyeres-Toulon and Limoges. Between 2019 and 2020, he suited up for Salt Lake City and Rio Grande of the G League, as well as Houston of the NBA. In 2020, he returned to France to join ASVEL.

Joventut signs forward Howard

Umana Reyer Venice has secured the arrival of [Allerik Freeman](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/allerik-freeman/010389/), the club announced on Thursday. Freeman (1.90 meters, 27 years old) last played for CSKA Moscow, but in the first half of the 2021-22 season he shone for Frutti Extra Bursaspor in the 7DAYS EuroCup, averaging 19.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in nine games.

Freeman also has experience of playing in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, having represented LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in the 2020-21 season. In 18 games in the competition, 13 of which were as a starter, he averaged 7.4 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists. After playing college basketball at Baylor University and North Carolina State University, he began his professional career with Alba Fehervar of Hungary before going on to play for Bursaspor, Shenzhen of China, ASVEL, Qingdao of China, Bursaspor again, and then CSKA.

### Round 1: Getting started in Latvia

 

Its first road trip of the season should be the shortest, as Lietkabelis travels to Riga, Latvia, to face Prometey Slobozhanske. Prometey is a EuroCup newcomer, which gives Lietkabelis an advantage in terms of know-how. Lietkabelis opened the 2021-22 EuroCup campaign with a road victory against Slask Wroclaw and will want to start a new season the same way against a relatively inexperienced squad.

### Round 4: A new opponent

 

Lietkabelis is set to face three new teams in Group A. One of them is U-BT Cluj-Napoca, which is set to visit Cido Arena on November 2. It is Cluj's first-ever visit to Lithuania, and it is also the first time that Lietkabelis will host a Romanian team. In fact, only one Romanian team has visited Lithuania in European history - CSU Asesoft Ploiesti, which registered a 79-72 road loss against Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius in the 2014-15 regular season.

### Round 8: Visiting the finalists

 

This is one of the games that Lietkabelis fans should circle in their calendars. Frutti Extra Bursaspor made it to the 2022 EuroCup Championship Game and has managed to keep part of its core of players together. Of course, Lietkabelis will face a potentially intimidating basketball atmosphere, as Bursaspor fans will know this could be a pivotal game for their team.

#### Round 18: A tough way to finish

 

Lietkabelis finishes the regular season with arguably the most difficult game possible – on the road against Joventut Badalona. Last season, Joventut topped Lietkabelis 65-50 in Round 15. Joventut returned to the EuroCup after a 10-year absence and is 23-4 at home in the last three seasons.

Lietkabelis Panevezys is coming off a successful 2021-22 7DAYS EuroCup campaign in which the team exceeded expectations. Lietkabelis won all of its key games and added notable home victories against Joventut Badalona and Partizan NIS Belgrade en route to securing a place in the playoffs, where it lost against Virtus Segafredo Bologna by a narrow margin. Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana has reached an agreement with [Yogi Ferrell](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/yogi-ferrell/011281/) for the point guard to remain at Arena Stozice for the upcoming season, the club announced on Wednesday. Ferrell (1.82 meters, 29 years old) joined Cedevita in the middle of last season and went on to average 15.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 15 7DAYS EuroCup matches.

Ferrell's first experience in the EuroCup came with Cedevita last season, but in the first part of the 2021-22 campaign, he played in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague for Panathinaikos OPAP Athens. However, he only made five appearances off the bench, recording overall totals of eight points and nine assists. Ferrell spent four years at Indiana University before alternating between the G League and the NBA, going on to represent Long Island and Salt Lake City in the former and Brooklyn, Dallas, Sacramento, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Clippers in the latter. He won the Slovenian League and Slovenian Cup with Cedevita last season.

Umana Reyer Venice added firepower and experience to its backcourt by inking point guard Marco Spissu, the club announced Wednesday. Spissu (1.82 meters, 27 years old) arrives from UNICS Kazan, where he averaged 5.1 points on 87.5% free throw shooting and 2.6 assists in 25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games, all of them coming off the bench, last season. He ranked second in three-point shooting (52.9% 3FG, 17-of-51), only trailing Rokas Jokubaitis of FC Barcelona (56.8%, 25-of-44). It was his first EuroLeague season and now, Spissu is set to make his 7DAYS EuroCup debut with Reyer in the upcoming 2022-23 campaign.

Spissu joined UNICS from boyhood club Dinamo Sassari, where he spent the previous four years. He averaged 13.0 points, 5.5 assists and 1.6 steals in 27 Italian League games in the 2020-21 season. Spissu was also a member of the Italian national team this summer at the Tokyo Olympics. He has spent time on loan at Italian clubs Sant'Orsola, CUS Bari, Casalpusterlengo, Reggio Calabria, Derthola and Virtus Segafredo Bologna. Spissu helped Virtus win the Italian second-division Cup as the MVP in 2017. He won the FIBA Europe Cup in 2019 with Sassari.

ratiopharm Ulm strengthened its backcourt by inking playmaker Yago Mateus Dos Santos to a two-year deal, the club announced Wednesday. Dos Santos (1.75 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, where he averaged 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 41 Brazilian League games last season, helping his team reach the finals. He led Flamengo to the Intercontinental Cup title in 2022. In his three seasons with Flamengo, Dos Santos also won the Carioca League in 2020, as well as the Brazilian Super 8, the Brazilian League and the BCL Americas in 2021.

Dos Santos started his career with Palmeiras Meltex of his native Brazil and also played for Paulistano Unimed Sao Paolo before joining Flamengo. He helped Paulistano win the Paulista League in 2017 and the Brazilian League in 2018. Dos Santos has also been a member of the Brazilian national team. He is set to make his 7DAYS EuroCUp debut with Ulm next season. 

"With Yago, we were able to convince a very exciting player to play for ratiopharm ulm. Despite his young age, he has already gained a wide range of experience at a high level," Ulm sports director Thorsten Leibenath said. "At the same time, his game will still be able to develop. It was important to us to find a player who can create space for teammates, but who is also able to go to the basket himself in a variety of ways."

2022-23 Games to Watch: Turk Telekom Ankara

### Round 1: Starting the party

For Turk Telekom fans, the new EuroCup season begins with a match at home against a newcomer to the competition in Paris Basketball. After getting off to a winning start in Round 1 last year, beating another team from the French capital in Metropolitans 92, it will be keen to replicate that same feat this time around. Paris, meanwhile, will know that a win in Turk Telekom's arena will put the rest of the EuroCup on notice.

### Round 4: Improving on last year

After winning just two of its games away from Ankara Arena last season, Turk Telekom enters the new campaign with a clear target: improve its record on the road. A good example can be seen with its set of matches against Slask Wroclaw, as Turk Telekom won by 16 points at home in Round 3 before losing by 13 points in Poland in Round 12. This season's Round 4 matchup should allow Turk Telekom to see if it has made any improvements on its travels.

### Round 7: Making a statement

Gran Canaria is the team from Group B that went the furthest in the EuroCup playoffs in the 2021-22 season, reaching the quarterfinals after topping Group A and advancing past Slask Wroclaw in the eighthfinals, so Turk Telekom has the chance to test itself against one of the competition favorites. These two teams last met back in 2010, with Gran Canaria winning both games in two hard-fought contests. Turk Telekom can make a statement with a win on its home floor against Gran Canaria in Round 7.

### Round 17: A new experience

In the penultimate round of the regular season, Turk Telekom travels to the English capital to take on the London Lions, which is playing in the EuroCup for the first time in 2022-23. London is one of the most multicultural cities in the world and it has a strong Turkish community, so there could be plenty of Turks in attendance at Copper Box Arena for this matchup. A win for Turk Telekom in London would likely set it up nicely in terms of the playoff seedings.

He saw more playing time in Turkish League action, averaging 3.0 points and 1.4 assists in 9 games. Gozeneli has also played for Turk Telekom's U19 team, as well as for Ankara Anadolu Basket.

Promitheas Patras has found a new point guard for its team, signing Anthony Cowan on a two-year contract, the club announced Tuesday. Cowan (1.83 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Aris Thessaloniki where he posted 14.5 points, 5.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals in Greek League action last season. It was the first year on the European continent for Cowan, who had a successful four-year collegiate career at University of Maryland before playing with Memphis in G-League in his first season as a pro in the 2020-21 campaign. Cowan is now set to make his 7DAYS EuroCup debut.
