Andrea Trinchieri, Bayern: 'We are alive, we are fighting'

Andrea Trinchieri, FC Bayern Munich head coach
"[The key thing is that we had] six players in double digits [for points] and we found a way to replace what Andi [Obst] and [Vladimir] Lucic give us in terms of offense. We found it as a team; everyone did a piece of their job. We played a great game, we deserved to win and I'm very happy.
"That was a great game. Six players in double digits [for points]. Team offense, team defense. We only had problems with [Markus] Howard down the stretch in the second quarter, but we adjusted. I believe that we deserved the win because we played with great intensity, great energy, we wanted to shoot the ball open – we shot a lot of open threes, and we made them. I believe that we responded as a team. Everybody basically helped to build this kind of result. We are alive, we are fighting, we are competing, and as I said in an interview a couple of days ago, we are not looking at the rankings now. We are the crew of a submarine, we are on a mission underwater, and in March we will surface and see where we are at. We will try to keep fighting, keep working hard, keep improving, despite the players we are missing. Without [Vladimir] Lucic and Andi [Obst], we have between 12 and 13 shots less with a very good percentage, over 40%. So, we don't have one player who can take this, but we can have every player taking two more shots, and that was the result [tonight]. I'm happy for my players and for the club for how we are playing, despite all the adversities. Head up, fighting and competing."
Joan Penarroya, Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz head coach
"Congratulations to Bayern, they played better. I think we had a lot of problems with our defense, we didn’t control our rhythm. Bayern played easily on offense and, in a way, it's difficult to win if you play soft defense.
"I think the key was the first quarter. We started the game bad, soft on defense. Bayern made 8-of-10 threes, but they shot the 10 threes easily. They scored very easily and they controlled the rhythm of the game for 40 minutes."

"The team has been doing a good job, we've been getting better throughout the season. I'm just trying to do my part to help this team win games, so [we're] just trying to keep the momentum going while we're playing well. I think we had a better third quarter today; we broke it apart, made some plays, made some stops and made shots tonight. We did a good job overall the whole game."
Othello Hunter, FC Bayern Munich center
"We just came in focused, that was the main thing. They embarrassed us at their house, a couple of guys was killing us, and we just wanted to do our thing here, protect the house and have fun. [The main takeaways are] defense, energy. If you're open, shoot it."
