With its second new addition of the summer, Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz on Sunday tabbed point guard Markus Howard to run its offense for the next two seasons. Howard (1.79 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Denver of the NBA, where he appeared in 77 games over the last two seasons. He put up 3.4 points on average in 68 regular season games split between those two seasons, but upped his output to 4.7 points in 12.4 minutes per game in nine playoff appearances in 2021.

Howard came to fame as a high-volume scorer at Marquette University, where he averaged 21.6 points over four seasons, including 27.8 in the last of those, which was the most in Division I of the NCAA that season. Howard won a gold medal at the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship in Zaragoza, Spain, while averaging 11.9 points and 2.6 assists. Howard will make both his European debut in the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
