Belinelli turned back the clock in Round 16

Virtus Segafredo Bologna was struggling in its Round 16 game against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on Friday night, trailing 65-68 at the end of the third quarter. It needed a go-to guy and then up stepped Marco Belinelli, who is still going strong at age 36.
Belinelli inbounded the ball on the offensive end, came off a screen and buried an off-balance jumper, along with the free throw that came with it. He immediately followed that with a catch-and-shoot three-pointer in transition that put Virtus ahead, 73-71. The 36-year-old's teammates fed off his energy, as Jordan Mickey and Ismael Bako boosted Virtus's lead to 80-76 midway through the second quarter, but the veteran shooter was far from being done.
Belinelli ignited the crowd with another three-point play, and he followed that up with another bomb from downtown which seemed to seal the outcome, 86-76. Fenerbahce managed to get within 90-88, but Belinelli drew a foul with 5.0 seconds remaining, before calmly making both free throws to put his team's victory on ice, 92-88. Belinelli had 14 of his season-high 18 points in the fourth quarter, effectively leading Virtus to its seventh victory.
"I think it was a really important game for us. We played against, right now, the best team in the EuroLeague. We fought from the beginning of the game until the end," Belinelli said after the game. "That's what I want to do: I love to play. I just want to play and win games, win everything. This is who I am. We just need to keep going."
