He won the German double in 2024
Coach Laso leaves Bayern due to family reasons
FC Bayern Munich and head coach Pablo Laso reached a mutual agreement to part ways. Coach Laso asked to leave the club due to family reasons.
Laso, 56, had just finished the first season of a two-year deal. He led Bayern to win the German League and the German Cup titles for just the second time in club history. Laso also led Bayern to a 13-21 record in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
"Pablo's personal decision was unexpected, but we respect him very much as a coach and as a person and would like to thank him for his work and his great commitment in the past, successful season," Bayern sporting director Marko Pesic said. "We wish Pablo all the best for the future, and he will always be connected to us, and not just because of the double win."
Before coaching Bayern, Laso led Real Madrid between 2011 and 2022 and won two Turkish Airlines EuroLeague titles in 2015 and 2018. Under the stewardship of Laso, Los Blancos reached seven out of a possible 10 Final Fours, winning six Spanish Leagues, six Spanish Cups and an International Cup. EuroLeague coaches chose Laso as the Alexander Gomelsky EuroLeague Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
