Dubai had five double-digit scorers and made 11 triples in its first EuroLeague game
Dubai tops Partizan, 89-76, in historic debut



Dubai Basketball made its EuroLeague debut a memorable one, beating visiting Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade 89-76 on Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Arena. Dubai opened the game by making its first 7 three-point tries and trailed for only one possession in the third quarter en route to a historic victory.
The winners had five scorers in double figures, led by Davis Bertans who netted 20 points on 5-for-7 three-point shooting. Dzanan Musa scored 19, Mfioundu Kabengele added 15 points, Filip Petrusev collected 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Dwayne Bacon finished with 11 points. Tyrique Jones tallied 13 points and 6 rebounds for Partizan, Dylan Osetkowski scored 12, Jabari Parker 11 and Shake Milton 10 in a losing effort.

Dubai grabbed the lead right away, making 7 of its first 8 field goal attempts. Bertans scored 11 points, making 3 three-point attempts during that span. Osetkowski sank a corner three for Partizan, but a triple apiece from Musa and Bacon helped open a 24-12 lead, and the hosts held a 28-18 lead after 10 minutes thanks to 6-for-6 shooting from three-point land.
The two teams traded baskets in the early going of the second quarter. Musa’s triple - Dubai’s seventh - extended the lead to 41-27, but Partizan caught up thanks to its presence on the offensive boards, with Isaac Bonga grabbing 4 offensive rebounds. A three-point play from Milton helped cut it to 43-36, and the margin was 47-40 at the break.
Partizan scored the first 8 points of the second half, and took its first lead 47-48. But Kabengele replied on the other end, and sparked a 17-2 run during which the big man had 8 points. Musa capped the run with a three-pointer, and the hosts were up 68-56 going into the final quarter.
Dubai scored the first 5 points in the fourth, a triple from Bertans and a close-range basket from Petrusev. The same two players scored again to make it a 20-point game, and a jumper from Justin Anderson opened an 80-58 margin. Aleksej Pokusevski and Tyrique Jones halved the deficit in the final minutes, but Dubai cruised as it celebrated a win in its historic debut.
