Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul guard Ismet Akpinar will remain with the club for at least one more season after the sides agreed to a contract extension on Thursday. Akpinar (1.93 meters, 27 years old) joined Fenerbahce last summer and contributed 4.8 points on 41.7% three-point in 14 EuroLeague games in a reserve role. He raised that to 6.0 points on 45.8% three-point shooting in domestic action to help Fenerbahce win the Turkish championship.

Akpinar, whose brother Mutlu also plays professional basketball, started his career with Hamburg Tigers in his native Germany and played for SC Rist Wedel, ALBA Berlin and ratiopharm Ulm in Germany before joining Besiktas Istanbul in 2019. He finished that season with FC Bayern Munich and played for Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul before signing with Fenerbahce. Akpinar helped ALBA win a German Cup in 2016 and has been a member of the German national team.
