Game Center: Baskonia downs Virtus 89-77 to reach the playoffs!
Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz is the eighth and final name in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs after beating Virtus Segafredo Bologna 89-77 in the second round of the Play-In Showdown.
In ending a five-year wait to make the playoffs, star guard Markus Howard had a game-high 28 points, with Matt Costello adding 19 and Tadas Sedekerskis chipping in with 16. Virtus's leading scorer was Toko Shengelia, who netted 16. Daniel Hackett finished with 13 points, while Isaia Cordinier, Iffe Lundberg and Marco Belinelli all had 10.
Baskonia won't have long to bathe in the success of this win, however, as its playoff series against first-placed Real Madrid gets underway on Tuesday, April 23, with Games 1 and 2 taking place at WiZink Center. The series will head to Vitoria-Gasteiz for Game 3 on May 1.
