The Reds' tactician penned a one-year extension
Georgios Bartzokas extends stay at Olympiacos
Olympiacos Piraeus has announced that head coach Georgios Bartzokas has signed a new one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025-26 season.
Bartzokas previously agreed to a three-year deal in 2022, meaning his contract was set to expire at the end of the coming campaign.
After leading the Reds to three straight Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four appearances for the first time in club history, Coach Bartzokas will remain at the helm for the next two seasons.
In his first spell as Olympiacos head coach, which came between 2012 and 2014, Bartzokas helped the Reds lift a second consecutive EuroLeague crown in 2013.
Bartzokas's Olympiacos came out on top against Real Madrid in the 2013 championship game, one year after Dusan Ivkovic's Reds had achieved the same feat by downing CSKA Moscow. Bartzokas also won the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in 2013.
Since returning to Olympiacos in 2020, Bartzokas has guided the club to two Greek championships (2022, 2023), three Greek Cups (2022, 2023, 2024) and two Greek Super Cup triumphs (2022, 2023).
As Olympiacos head coach, he has also been named the EuroLeague Coach of the Year a joint record three times: in 2013, 2022 and 2023. He is tied with Zeljko Obradovic.
To date, Bartzokas has a 203-150 record in the EuroLeague. He went 6-10 with Maroussi (2009-10), 42-18 in his first spell with Olympiacos (2012-14), 21-10 with Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar (2015-16), 12-18 with FC Barcelona (2016-17), 24-29 with Khimki Moscow Region (2017-19), and he's gone 98-65 in his second spell with Olympiacos (2020-present).
