Higgins showed up in the last period to boost Barcelona
Cory Higgins displayed a terrific performance for FC Barcelona in the fourth quarter of their 79-86 road win at Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv on Thursday night. The guard had his best scoring night of the season, going for 15 points plus 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 fouls drown to help Barcelona gain its third win in a row.
Higgins came up big in the crucial moment, when the visitors led just by one (61-62) right after the fourth quarter started. He opened fire with a triple and drilled another a few moments later to cap a 1-11 run that put Barcelona on the right track for the rest of the game. He scored 11 of his total 15 points in the last 10 minutes, plus 2 assists and 1 steal in that period.
He formed a great duo with Tomas Satoransky, and both were praised by their head coach when the game was over: “As far as offense goes we were finding people. At the beginning it was [Nicolas] Laprovittola, then we found a little bit Abrines, and in the second half it was all [Tomas] Satoransky and Cory [Higgins]. In general, it was a great team win, a great effort,” Jasikevicius said.
