Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade boosted its frontline with the addition of center Bruno Caboclo, as the club announced the signing of a two-year contract on Tuesday.
Partizan inks EuroCup standout center Caboclo
Bruno Caboclo (2.06 meters, 28 years old) starred last season in the BKT EuroCup and over the summer with at the 2023 World Cup with the Brazilian national team.
In five games at the World Cup, Caboclo averaged 16.4 points and ranked third with 9.2 rebounds.
Last season, Caboclo was one of the best players in the BKT EuroCup. Playing for ratiopharm Ulm he posted a PIR of 19.6 last season, which was second in the competition. He also ranked second in blocks (1.5 bpg.) and two-pointers made (5.2), fifth in points (17.4 ppg.), sixth in rebounds (7.8 rpg.) and seventh in offensive rebounds (2.5 orpg.).
Caboclo and Ulm reached EuroCup quarterfinals, before the big man helped the team win its first-ever German League championship.
Caboclo started the 2022-23 season with Mexican club Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico, where he averaged 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in two G League games. He has spent the majority of his career in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets and with those teams' G-League affiliates: Fort Wayne, Raptors 905, Reno and Rio Grande.
Caboclo began his career with Pinheiros in Brazil. He has also played for Sao Paolo, which he led to the Basketball Champions League Americas title in 2022 and was the championship game MVP after posting 29 points and 7 rebounds in that effort, and Limoges CSP of France.
At Partizan (2-4), he will shore up the frontline which already features Zach LeDay, Frank Kaminsky, Alen Smailagic and Balsa Koprivica. Caboclo should help Zeljko Obradovic's squad in the rebounding department, where Partizan ranks 16th in total rebounds (30.7 rpg.) and 18th in offensive rebounding (7.5 orpg.). Partizan also struggles allowing 14.5 offensive rebounds per game as it gets ready to welcome Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul (5-1) on Thursday night at Stark Arena.
