Partizan signs South Sudan star Carlik Jones
Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade has signed dynamic point guard Carlik Jones.
Jones (1.83 meters, 26 years old) has produced explosive numbers at almost every stop in his professional career.
He comes off a strong showing with South Sudan at the Olympic Games in France. Jones averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists as South Sudan narrowly missed the quarterfinals. He previously made headlines after posting a triple-double against the USA in an exhibition game.
Last season, Jones played for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association, where he averaged 16.5 points on 40.2% three-point shooting, 4.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals in 38 games.
Jones was the MVP of the G League in the 2022-23 season after leading the league in scoring with 26.1 points in addition to 4.4 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.7 steals for the Windy City Bulls.
After playing college basketball at Radford University, where he was the Big South Conference Player of the Year in 2020, and the University of Louisville, where he was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference first team choice in 2021.
Jones began his professional career in the G League with the Texas Legends, where he was a teammate of current Olympiacos Piraeus big man Moses Wright.
Jones would be called up to play a total of five games in the NBA that season for the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets, and would split the 2022-23 season between the Chicago Bulls and the Windy City Bulls.
As a member of the South Sudan national team, Jones tied Toni Kukoc’s record for the most assists at a FIBA Basketball World Cup game with 15 last year. He averaged 20.4 points, 10.6 assists and 1.2 steals at the 2023 World Cup, where Jones was a teammate of new Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv signing Wenyen Gabriel. Jones was the World Cup leader in assists.
