Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv added an important weapon to its perimeter attack by signing swingman Darrun Hilliard for the coming season. Hilliard (1.98 meters, 29 years old) arrives from FC Bayern Munich, where he averaged 13.7 points as a part-time starter in an injury-riddled season. It was his fourth EuroLeague campaign after debuting with Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in 2018 and then spending two seasons with CSKA Moscow.

Hilliard started his professional career in the NBA, where he played parts of three seasons for San Antonio and Detroit. He also won the 2018 D-League title with Austin while averaging 21.2 points per game. Hilliard played for the United States national team that took the gold medal at the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup and was named to the All-tournament team. With CSKA, Hilliard reached the EuroLeague Final Four and won the VTB United League in 2021.
"I’m very thankful to wear the Maccabi uniform and represent everything that comes with it," Hilliard told the club's website. "Many great players came to Tel Aviv with high expectations to win and I hope my teammates and I can bring that same great passion and drive to be successful."
