Maccabi re-signs Tamir Blatt for two more years
Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv has announced that it re-signed point guard Tamir Blatt for two more years. Blatt (1.85 meters, 27 years old) comes off his first season with Maccabi, during which he averaged 7.0 points on 39.3% three-point shooting and 4.8 assists per game. He was 11th in the league in assists. Blatt’s numbers rose to 8.9 points and 6.3 assists in the Israeli League regular season as he helped Maccabi repeat as Israeli League champs. Blatt began his EuroLeague career in Germany with ALBA Berlin, where he played from 2021 through 2023.
Family's history with Maccabi
Blatt has a rich family history with Maccabi. His father, David Blatt, spent two stints as the club’s head coach. Notably, he led Maccabi to the 2014 EuroLeague crown and more recently served as a consultant and chairman of the professional committee.
Tamir Blatt's early years
After playing on the youth teams at Hapoel Lev Hasharon, Blatt began his professional career with Hapoel Tel Aviv and AS Ramat HaSharon. He spent one season with Hapoel Holon and three more with Hapoel Jerusalem before moving to Germany. Blatt won the Israeli Cup three times with Jerusalem and captured the German championship in 2022 with ALBA. He also led Israel to the silver medal at the U20 European Championship in 2017, when he was named to the all-tournament team.
