This season will be their eighth together
Maccabi, team captain John DiBartolomeo pen extension
Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv has extended to deal with team captain John DiBartolomeo for another season, which will keep him with the club through the end of the 2025-26 campaign. The veteran guard, who is entering his eighth EuroLeague campaign, was already under contract for the coming season and the new deal adds another season on top of that.
DiBartolomeo (1.83 meters, 33 years old) averaged 4.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 29 EuroLeague games last season, including a career-high eight starts. He made 39.3% of his three-pointers and was perfect on 20 trips to the free-throw line. DiBartolomeo has made 66 consecutive free throws, dating back to December 2022, which is the second-longest streak in competition history. The longest streak belongs to Kevin Punter, who made 69 in a row with Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade.
He raised his contributions to 9.3 points on 47.9% three-point shooting and 1.2 steals per game in the Israeli League, where he helped Maccabi to their sixth championship in seven seasons together.
DiBartolomeo first joined Maccabi in 2017 and was named team captain later that season. In his time with the club, DiBartolomeo has won six Israeli championships. He previously played two seasons with Maccabi Haifa, with which he won the Israeli Cup in 2017. That season DiBartolomeo was also named Israeli League MVP. He made his professional debut with Spanish side Palma Air Europe, where he played from 2013 to 2015.
