AS Monaco made a key addition to its backcourt by bringing in Elie Okobo on a two-year deal, the club announced on Friday. Okobo (1.91 meters, 24 years old) arrives from LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, where he averaged 14.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 27 games during the 2021-22 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season, his first year in the competition. He was the sixth-highest scorer in terms of points per game in the EuroLeague last season. Okobo's best scoring performance in the EuroLeague came on October 29, 2021, when he put up 35 in an 84-70 win against Panathinaikos OPAP Athens.

Okobo joined ASVEL ahead of the 2021-22 campaign and ended up helping his team secure the French League title for the 21st time in its history. He was chosen as the Finals MVP after his impressive performances in the 3-2 triumph over Monaco. Okobo started his career with JSA Bordeaux Basket and Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez of his native France. He also played for Phoenix of the NBA and Arizona and Long Island of the G-League and has also been a member of the French national team.
