Arvydas had the following lineup: Andreas Obst of FC Bayern Munich as his team captain, then Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul's Talen Horton-Tucker, Valencia Basket's Kameron Taylor, Virtus Bologna's Derrick Alston and Real Madrid's Walter Tavares as his other starters. Antonio Blakeney of Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv was his sixth man. Arvydas's bench players were AS Monaco's Mike James, Bayern's David McCormack, FC Barcelona's Joel Parra and Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz's Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. Real Madrid play-caller Sergio Scariolo was Slobodan's head coach.

The prize for finishing first in Round 20 is a VIP EuroLeague TV Subscription for the 2026-27 Season, and an automatic entry to a lottery to win two tickets to the 2027 Final Four.

FC Bayern Munich rallied from 12 down in the fourth quarter to beat Baskonia 96-89, fueled by Andreas Obst’s career-high 37 points and PIR 38. New coach Svetislav Pesic praised defense as the key to Bayern’s second straight win.

Andreas Obst’s 37-Point Explosion Lifts Bayern Over Baskonia 96-89 

[FC Bayern Munich](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/fc-bayern-munich/mun/) prevailed in a titanic tussle over [Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/teams/baskonia-vitoria-gasteiz/bas/) 96-89 after the home team’s sharpshooter [Andreas Obst](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/andreas-obst/004508/) set career highs of 37 points and a PIR of 38 in a breathtaking individual performance on Wednesday.

Obst shot 13-of-18 from the floor, including 7-of-11 from deep, as Bayern wiped out a 12-point fourth quarter deficit for a second straight win following nine successive defeats, with the German side’s fortunes changing upon the arrival of new head coach Svetislav Pesic.

Obst, whose previous records stood at 34 points and a PIR of 30 in a November 2024 home win over FC Barcelona, displayed his vast arsenal of attacking skills as he mixed lethal shots from downtown with incisive drives to the basket, which left his markers dazzled.

Pesic was quick to praise Obst, highlighting his defensive effort as the coach stressed it generated the offensive potential which ultimately turned the tide after Bayern trailed 38-46 at halftime.

“Andreas built his confidence on defense,” the Serbian tactician said in his postgame comments. 

“On offense, he makes whatever he wants. He can attack, penetrate as he is not just an excellent shooter but also a very good defender on the ball. Tonight we played two different games – in the first half we saved energy, but in the second we brought energy, especially in the third quarter. It was an excellent effort and I am 100 percent sure that playing with energy on defense built confidence for offense,” Pesic added.

Baskonia, which suffered a fourth successive loss, looked the more likely winner after three quarters as a solid team effort led by [Matteo Spagnolo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/matteo-spagnolo/008173/) (20 points) and backed up by [Rodions Kurucs](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/rodions-kurucs/005713/) and [Eugene Omoruyi](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/eugene-omoruyi/014207/) (13 each) put the Spanish side in the driving seat. Having turned a 24-19 deficit into a 60-69 lead at the end of the third, Baskonia surged ahead 60-72 at the start of the fourth with Obst featuring as a solitary beacon of light for the hosts.

[Justinian Jessup](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/justinian-jessup/013290/) (17 points) then followed in Obst’s footsteps in crunch time as he made some big shots down the stretch and [Isiaha Mike](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/isiaha-mike/011836/) looked the part too, as Bayern found a couple of extra gears in the home straight to dominate the fourth quarter 36-20. Ultimately, though, it came down to the effervescent Obst, who stayed humble as ever in his postgame comments.

“It was a well-fought game against a good Baskonia team,” he said.  “They came to compete and play hard, we had some problems in the first half and a bit in the second, but we stayed together and played with confidence.

“I played with confidence, my teammates were looking for me and I executed pretty well. Everybody made big shots today so it was a team effort for sure. We got some energy from defense while JJ (Justinian Jessup) and Isiaha made some big shots in the end too, you work hard for these moments.”

Jessup too heaped praise on Obst and pointed out that rugged defense helped Bayern claw its way back into the contest, as the hosts produced several streaks, including an 11-0 run that tied the game (51-51) in the third quarter, eventually forcing Baskonia into submission.

“The second half was amazing. Andi was kind of carrying us there for pretty much the whole game, so a shout out to him,” Jessup said. “Our defensive intensity picked up a lot as well and the energy carried us through the game. We were down by 12 in the fourth for a moment, so finishing the game the way we did was huge for us.”

It was a moment to savor for Bayern after the previous round’s 95-71 rout of Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv, the German side’s biggest win of the season, while Baskonia dropped to 6-14 as it sorely missed the injured duo of Marcus Howard and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot.

It was also sweet revenge for going down to Baskonia 95-73 in the reverse fixture in November and visiting head coach Paolo Galbiati acknowledged that, being shorthanded aside, Baskonia got undone by one factor only.

“Andi Obst, he is a great player,” said the 41-year-old Italian tactician. “We finished a little bit short in switching defense in the final period and they shot 9 of 13 for three points in the second half, which is amazing.”

Nadir Hifi erupted for 27 points as Paris Basketball quelled the ghosts of fourth quarters past to defeat Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

For [Paris Basketball](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/paris-basketball/prs/), it looked as though history was about to repeat itself at the Turkcell Basketball Development Center.

Having led for much of the second and third quarters, Paris entered the fourth quarter at [Anadolu Efes Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/teams/anadolu-efes-istanbul/ist/) clinging to a 64-65 advantage. When [Jared Rhoden](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jared-rhoden/014178/)’s three-pointer pushed the visitors 70-72 ahead, the ghosts of fourth quarters past loomed once more.

Five points from [Ercan Osmani](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/ercan-osmani/012710/) and a pair of free throws by [Saben Lee](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/saben-lee/013389/) – making his EuroLeague debut for Efes – swung momentum back to the hosts, who opened up a 77-72 lead with 5:38 remaining. Once again, Paris appeared to be letting a fourth-quarter lead slip away.

This time, however, the script changed.

A [Yakuba Ouattara](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/yakuba-ouattara/004197/) fast-break layup and a [Justin Robinson](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/justin-robinson/014008/) three, followed by another Robinson layup, quickly restored Paris’s advantage at 77-79. [Allan Dokossi](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/allan-dokossi/014010/) then rejected [Rolands Smits](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/rolands-smits/007109/) at the rim, and after nearly two and a half scoreless minutes for both teams, [Nadir Hifi](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nadir-hifi/012640/) delivered the dagger – a step-back three that made it 77-82 with 39 seconds left.

After a timeout, Lee snapped Efes’s five-minute scoring drought with a layup, but Rhoden calmly iced the game from the free-throw line to seal a 79-84 victory.

Hifi finished with 27 points – tied for the second-highest scoring output of his EuroLeague career – and will deservedly draw most of the headlines. For Paris, though, the win carried deeper significance. Not only did it halt a recurring pattern of fourth-quarter collapses, it also snapped a six-game road losing streak. Francesco Tabellini’s side had not won away from home since October 24, [when it beat Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade 83-101](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/brilliant-nadir-hifi-shows-there-is-life-at-paris-after-tj-shorts/) in Round 6.

“I think it was a very important win for us,” Tabellini said afterward. “There was a lot on the table. The result is a consequence of the discipline and mental fortitude of my players, because too many times this season we’ve blown leads.

“It was a small lead, but it felt like another fourth quarter was slipping away. Instead, they showed great resilience, great discipline. They deserved it. The way we prepared, the way we kept bouncing back – they did a tremendous job, and I’m really happy for them.”

Alongside Hifi’s scoring, Rhoden also stood out in his return after missing Round 19. The guard said the time away helped him approach the closing moments with a clearer mindset.

“I had some time off to think about how we can close games and stay resilient,” Rhoden told EuroLeague TV. “I think we executed pretty well. We have to keep staying with it, staying resilient, and hopefully we can build on this win and find some consistency.”

Whether the victory proves to be a turning point remains to be seen, but Tabellini is confident Paris will take valuable lessons from the night in Istanbul.

“Our purpose is to play collective basketball,” he said. “It doesn’t come immediately. The team is new, the system is new – it takes time. The willingness to play together has always been there, but under pressure it hasn’t always shown. That’s part of the process. Now we need to speed that process up, and tonight was an important step.”

Efes, meanwhile, continues to search for consistency. Pablo Laso knew the challenge he was taking on, but after an impressive road win at Zalgiris Kaunas in his debut, the Turkish side has now dropped four straight games. Paris ended a six-game losing streak on the road by defeating Efes 79-84, with Nadir Hifi scoring 27 points – the 11th time he has netted 20 points or more in a game this season. The visitors took advantage of a five-minute spell in the fourth quarter (from 5:38 to 0:31) that saw Efes go scoreless, allowing them to overturn a 77-72 deficit and go 77-82 ahead. With this win, Paris improved to 3-7 on the road and 7-13 overall. Efes, however, dropped to 6-14.

In addition to Hifi’s 27 points, Jared Rhoden stood out with 15 points. Justin Robinson chipped in with 11 for the winners, and Amath M’Baye and Sebastian Herrear had 10 apiece. Efes was led by the 17 points of Saben Lee, who made his first EuroLeague appearance for the club. Ercan Osmani added 15 and Jordan Loyd had 12 in defeat.

Bayern celebrated its second win in a row following a sequence of nine successive defeats thanks to a stellar performance from Andreas Obst, who set new EuroLeague records of 37 points and a PIR of 38 as the hosts rallied from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Baskonia led 36-46 at halftime and surged ahead 60-72 at the start of the fourth but the effervescent Obst kept hitting 3-pointers for fun, shooting 7-of-11 from deep and 6-of-7 from inside to vanquish Baskonia, The hosts improved to 7-13 while the Spanish side, which suffered a fourth straight loss, dropped to 6-14 and remain in the bottom echelons of the competition.

Justinian Jessup added 17 points for Bayern on the back of a strong fourth quarter while Isiaha Mike racked up 13 and 7 boards. At the other end, Matteo Spagnolo paced Baskonia on 20 points while Rodions Kurucs and Eugene Omoruyi chpped in with 13 apiece. Bayern dominated downtown as the home team sank an impressive 13 of 21 from deep while the visitors managed 12 of 30.

Fenerbahce grabbed its 10th win in the last 11 EuroLeague games by downing Olympiacos 88-80 at Ulker Sports and Event Hall in Round 20 on Tuesday. Fenerbahce improved to 13-6 in the standings while Olympiacos dropped to 11-8 and saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.

Talen Horton-Tucker and Wade Baldwin led the winners with 17 points apiece. Baldwin added 11 assists for a double-double. Brandon Boston added 14 points, Nicolo Melli had 11 while Devon Hall got 10 for Fenerbahce. Sasha Vezenkov led Olympiacos with 24 points. Donta Hall added 16 while Evan Fournier and Tyler Dorsey each had 15 for the Reds, that were without the competition's PIR leader Nikola Milutinov. With the game tied at 64-64, Baldwin and Boston stepped up early in the fourth quarter to make the difference in the game.

Monaco remained within striking distance of the top of the standings with a 101-84 victory over Partizan on Tuesday night at Salle Gaston Medecin. Alpha Diallo led six Monaco scorers in double figures with 14 points as Monaco improved to 13-7 with its fourth straight win. Nikola Mirotic and Matt Strazel added 13 points apiece. Sterling Brown scored 19 for Partizan, which lost its fifth in a row and slipped to 6-14.

Monaco shot 6 of 9 from deep in the first quarter to lead 28-21. Mirotic pushed the margin to double figures with the first two baskets of the second quarter and the hosts led 54-39 at the break. The margin reached 21 before Nick Calathes led a 0-10 third-quarter run to revive the visitors. Monaco regrouped with a 10-3 start to the final stanza and although Partizan continued to fight, the outcome was never again in doubt.

The third quarter was back and forth with neither team taking control, and the host was still up by 5 points, 61-56, heading into the final period. But then Trey Lyles took over, scoring 10 consecutive points in just over 2 minutes to lead his team to an ultimately comfortable victory.

Lyles was the chief inspiration with 21 points and 7 rebounds, while Facu Campazzo scored 15 and Walter Tavares paired 12 points with 9 boards, taking him past the 2,000 career rebounds milestone. Glynn Watson and Thomas Heurtel were the only double-digit scorers for ASVEL with 14 and 12 apiece. Real improves to 12-8, while the home team remains in a share of last place at 6-14.

Zvezda opened the second half with a 13-0 run, but the Spanish side bounced back with a 0-9 surge of their own and re-established a double-digit lead which they maintained until the final whistle.

Having won for the first time in seven games away at Zvezda, Valencia improved its record to 14-6. Meanwhile, the Serbian side opened the first double-round week of 2026 with a defeat, dropping to 11-9. Montero led all scorers with a career-high 25 points, while Brancou Badio and Omari Moore netted 15 each and Kameron Taylor added 13. Hapoel bounced back from the Round 19 home loss to Zalgiris Kaunas with an emphatic defeat of visiting Dubai on the back of a flawless third quarter in which the hosts outscored the EuroLeague debutants 33-13. The Israeli side improved to 14-6 while Dubai, which thrived on offensive boards and physical defense in the first quarter to take a 17-24 lead, dropped to 9-11. Having overturned a 36-41 halftime deficit, Hapoel kept its foot on the gas in the fourth and engineered a 14-2 run to take an 83-56 lead in the home straight, conceding a mere 6 points in the final 10 minutes in front of a jubilant home crowd.

The flawless Antonio Blakeney paced Hapoel n a game-high 25 points to go with 7 boards, shooting 9-of-12 from the floor and sinking all four shots from the line. Vasilije Micic chipped in with 19 points for the winner, Tai Odiase racked up 11 and 7 rebounds while Chris Jones added 10 points, including a dazzling layup down the stretch. At the other end, Dwayne Bacon netted 13 points and Filip Petrusev scored 11 for Dubai.

In a battle of two teams attempting to bounce back from derby defeats, Milan heaped more misery on Panathinaikos by stunning the Greens and coming away from OAKA with a 74-87 victory. Armoni Brooks, Josh Nebo and Lorenzo Brown made the difference for an undermanned Milan side that had six players out with injury, as the trio combined to score 57 of Milan’s points. Having done a good job of staying in the game in the first half, Milan took things up a notch after the break and was finally able to establish a comfortable lead in the fourth, with Brooks’s back-to-back three points at 67-79 effectively putting the game beyond any doubt.

Brooks top scored for Milan with 24 points, in addition to pulling down 6 rebounds, dishing 5 assists and blocking 2 shots. Brown – on his first return to OAKA since leaving last summer – paired 17 points with 5 assists, Nebo had 16 points and 7 boards, and Zach LeDay added 10 points. Pippo Ricci posted 7 points and 7 rebounds, too. Panathinaikos was led in scoring by Juancho Hernangomez’s 17 points, followed by Richaun Holmes with 14, Kostas Sloukas with 13, and Kendrick Nunn with 10.

In an intense battle that went down to the final two minutes, Virtus maintained its unbeaten start to 2026 by edging Zalgiris 83-79 at home in Round 20 on Tuesday. Virtus improved to 10-10 in the standings and is 8-2 in front of its fans so far this season. Zalgiris dropped to 11-9 and lost on the road for the first time since late November.

Derrick Alston Jr paced the winners with 20 points and six rebounds. Matt Morgan added 15 points, Luca Vildoza has 12 while Carsen Edwards and Saliou Niang each got 11 for Virtus.  Azuolas Tubelis led Zalgiris with 22 points. Moses Wright added 19, Nigel Williams-Goss had 17 while Sylvain Francisco posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 assists for the guests. Zalgiris got within 81-79 already in the final minute before Edwards sealed the outcome from the foul line with just 7.8 seconds remaining.

Barcelona bounced back from a big loss last week by fighting past Maccabi 93-83 to snap a two-game losing streak. After a big 22-3 first quarter run, Barcelona added a 12-1 spurt in the second period for a 24 point lead. Maccabi managed to trim the deficit to five points in the final frame but Barcelona got the big baskets when it needed them.

Barcelona improved to 13-7 after losing in Round 19 74-90 at home to AS Monaco. Toko Shengelia poured in 22 points while Nicolas Laprovittola had 14 points, Kevin Punter scored 12 points and Willy Hernangomez added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Maccabi has now lost two straight for an 8-12 mark after having won its previous five games. Tamir Blatt tied his career high with 5 three-pointers in scoring 17 points and 9 assists, Jaylen Hoard added 15 points and Iffe Lundberg scored 14 points.

We know we have two key games this week — actually three important games — but two of them are EuroLeague games and one in the domestic league. They’re a very athletic team with a lot of individual talent. On any given night, one of their guards can take over the game because they’re extremely talented and can get hot, and then they’re very hard to stop. Their bigs can all shoot, they really space the floor well, which creates more room for the guards to attack off the dribble. They’re a very difficult team to defend. That said, we have to play our game. We need to be solid on both ends of the floor, defensively and offensively, and we’ll need to have a strong performance to win. Without a doubt, our fans will be watching us on TV, and we have to win for them. We always play for them, and we’re going to miss them a lot. It’s a situation where we’re being affected through no fault of our own. Honestly, I really don’t like playing without our fans, but it’s what we have right now. We have to adapt, and we have to win no matter what."

"Feeling good. You know, it was good to get a win yesterday. Just trying to keep the momentum going. So, you know, coming in here, trying to get our bodies right, get our minds right for the game tomorrow. I think mentally we’re pretty good. We come in prepared every game with the right mindset. Monaco’s perimeter shooting immediately separated the teams and never really allowed Partizan to feel comfortable. By halftime, Monaco’s control of the game showed up everywhere on the stat sheet. It led 54-39 at the break and dominated the glass 18-8, including 5-1 in offensive rebounds, turning those extra possessions into a 9-0 advantage in second-chance points. The ball movement was equally striking: Monaco held a 12-6 edge in assists at the half, a precursor to a 22-15 final tally.

The margin swelled to 21 in the third quarter before Partizan finally mounted a response. Veteran playmaker Nick Calathes engineered a 0-10 run that briefly revived the visitors’ hopes, as Partizan increased its defensive pressure and found some rhythm in transition.

Monaco, however, absorbed the punch and then reasserted control. A 10-3 burst to open the fourth quarter restored a comfortable cushion, and although Partizan continued to fight, the outcome was never seriously in doubt the rest of the way. The hosts finished the night with a 32-21 rebounding advantage and a resounding 15-0 edge in second-chance points, while also winning the points-off-turnovers battle 28-23 after leading 17-9 in that category at halftime.

Coach Vassilis Spanoulis highlighted his team’s two-way commitment and unselfishness as the foundation of the performance: “We were good on both ends of the floor,” he said. “When we share the ball and we play together, we are a different team. I am satisfied and now we have a very important game against Valencia.”

Spanoulis noted that the team needed a few minutes to rediscover its rhythm after a week without games, but once it did, the offense flowed through its guards and spacing.

“After a couple of minutes, we found our rhythm. We started to share the ball and play our game. We had amazing, amazing creation from our guards. Everybody played amazing in his role, and we were very good both ways, except for a couple of moments in the first quarter and a couple of moments in the third quarter, but overall, I’m very satisfied.”

Diallo underlined the group’s resilience after a difficult lead-in to the game: “We played a 40-minute game,” he said. “We came out really sluggish. First game of the new year. Half the team was sick for a few days, so a lot of guys were questionable, including me. Just to come out here and get our second wind and get a win on our home court is important.”

Strazel’s perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc epitomized Monaco’s collective marksmanship. In all, 10 different Monaco players made a three-pointer as the team finished an astonishing 15-for-25 from long range, a display of depth and spacing that Partizan’s weary defense simply could not match.

Partizan head coach Joan Penarroya was blunt in his assessment: “We played bad in the first half,” he admitted. “I think we improved, especially in the third quarter, but it’s not enough.”

Despite Brown’s 19 points and the third-quarter spark, Partizan’s fifth straight loss leaves it deeper in trouble at the bottom of the standings. Monaco, by contrast, leaves the night with momentum preserved, its winning streak extended, and its collective identity – unselfish, deep and disciplined – reinforced ahead of another key clash against Valencia.

The French team was superior for long periods and led at the end of the first, second and third quarters, maintaining for the majority of the game an advantage that climbed as high as 10 points early in the third period.

But Real, despite playing way below its best for nearly all the contest, hung in there and gradually fought back to take a small lead, 63-65, early in the fourth quarter.

The Canadian forward scored 10 consecutive points in just over two minutes, single-handedly turning what had been a tight game into a comfortable conclusion by netting four straight scores, while also helping out on the defensive end with a couple of rebounds and a big block.

His final tally of 21 points and 7 rebounds, for a game-high PIR of 26, continues the Canadian forward’s strong first season with Real following 10 years in the NBA, and after the contest he joked that coach Sergio Scariolo should count on him for more game-winning exploits in the future.

“Coach came to me a bunch in the fourth quarter, and I showed him why he should keep doing that,” he smiled.

More seriously though, Lyles added a reproach to his teammates for getting themselves into such a tricky position in the first place, complaining: “We’ve made it a habit to play lackadaisical in the first half, and then in the second half we pick it up.

“We need to start doing that from the beginning of the game. If we do that, we will make games a lot easier for us and we won’t have to dig ourselves out of a hole like we did today and in the last few games.

“We’ve got to stay accountable to one another and go out there and play with a lot of energy.”

Lyles has a point, because his outstanding burst helped Real overcome an often sloppy and occasionally lifeless collective performance. But although Coach Scariolo did not even attempt to pretend that his team had played a good game, he also wasn’t particularly unhappy about that as he reasoned: “It’s difficult to look for perfection. Perfection is to come, when it’s time to play for a championship.

“Right now, this is a process where every couple of days you have a game. There are difficulties, there is travel, there are many factors… When you play every couple of days, there are difficulties. For people who are professionally into this, it’s not something difficult to explain at all.”

This mindset – accepting that no trophies are won in the autumn and that momentum needs to be gradually built over the course of a season rather than burned out when it’s too early to count – has been a key aspect of Real’s habitual success over many decades.

Without saying it directly, Scariolo is also suggesting that the struggles of top teams to find consistency explains the current parity of the EuroLeague, as we head into the midway point of the regular season with only two wins separating first place from tenth.

Behind that line of thinking, of course, there is also the expectation that the cream will eventually rise to the top, and that the strongest teams will find a way to pace themselves and hit their best form when it matters the most.

With an unmatched tally of 10 Final Four appearances in the last 15 years, Real has repeatedly benefitted from that philosophy.

Scariolo’s calmness suggests he has every belief that everything will come together for his team when the time is right: hit your peak in May, not November.

And, in a way, the evidence was provided on a smaller scale on Tuesday night: early struggles, gradual improvement, a powerful late surge, and ultimately a deserved victory. If this win proves to be a microcosm of the season in general, Real’s race could be perfectly timed.
