Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens got back to winning ways by edging FC Barcelona 90-89 at Oaka Altion to open the double-week in style on Tuesday night. Kendrick Nunn pulled off an extraordinary outing, netting a career-high 29 points, including two mid-court triples to beat the first and third-quarter buzzers. With this win, Panathinaikos improved its record to 8-5, while Barcelona extended its losing streak to four games and dropped to 7-6.

Nunn paced all scorers, with Lorenzo Brown netting a season-high 18 points and Mathias Lessort scoring 16, including a decisive free throw to clinch it at the end. Juan Nunez ended the game with a career-high 19 points, Jabari Parker netted 15, Alex Abrines scored 13 and Tomas Satoransky had 11.

Juancho Hernangomez opened the scoring with a bucket from inside before Brown and Parker traded midrange jumpers for an early 4-2 Panathinaikos lead. Satoransky and Parker netted a basket each, but Brown nailed one from beyond the arc and Lessort beat the buzzer with a rare long two for an 11-6 cushion. Then, Nunez took over off the bench and cut the difference to 13-11 with 5 unanswered points. Brown took his tally to 9 points from inside, but Nunez responded with a three-point play and Justin Anderson netted a triple to tie it, 19-19. Yet, Panathinaikos responded with back-to-back triples, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Nunn for a 25-19 lead after 10 minutes.

A Nunn triple was followed by a Nunez layup in traffic. Anderson nailed one from deep to cut the difference to 28-24. Lessort completed a three-point play, but Willy Hernangomez scored two straight buckets and Nunez took his tally to 12 points with another layup that brought Barcelona within 31-30. Then, Nunn and Anderson traded baskets before Satoransky gave the visitors their first lead of the game, 33-34, with a bucket from inside. Panathinaikos replied with Brown sinking a triple and Lessort scoring inside to put the hosts ahead, 38-36. Five points off the bench from Parker were followed by a jumper from Nunn before Joel Parra hit in transition, 40-43. Then, Parra scored again from inside, but Nunn added 4 points to his tally, including a buzzer-beating jumper to make it 45-45 at halftime.

Satoransky opened the third quarter with a triple but Jerian Grant and Lessort responded on the other end with a three-point play each to put Panathinaikos back in front, 51-48. The visitors replied with a 0-10 run, as Kevin Punter opened his account with a triple before 4 points from Vesely and a three from Abrines gave Barcelona a 51-58 lead. After Abrines and Brown exchanged triples, the former added 3 points from the line to his tally and Parker threw down a monster slam in traffic for a 55-66 lead.  Panathinaikos responded, with Konstantinos Mitoglou netting a triple and Nunn scoring yet another midcourt three to beat the third-quarter buzzer and trim the deficit to 63-69 with 10 minutes to go.

Nunn started off the closing quarter the way he ended the third, netting back-to-back triples to tie it 69-69 for the hosts. Nunez responded with a floater to end Panathinaikos’s 9-0 run, but Mitoglou nailed another triple to put the Greeks ahead, 72-71. A layup from Nunn was followed by a three-pointer from Grant, but Nunez completed a three-point play that cut the difference to 77-74. Sloukas and Nunez traded scores inside before Nunn sank a long two-pointer for an 81-76 cushion. After Satoransky and Mitroglou exchanged triples, a bucket from Parker and a triple from Punter tied it at 84-84 with 1:35 left on the clock. Lessort got a massive steal on one end before throwing down a slam on the other for an 87-84 lead. A bucket from Vesely was followed by 3 made free throws by Nunn to maintain a 3-point cushion with 0:12 remaining. Abrines drew a foul and hit 3 of 3 to tie it at 89-89, but Lessort split free throws on the other end to win it for the Greens.

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne sent shockwaves through the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with an 80-78 home win over Real Madrid after Paris Lee netted a game-winning baseline floater to settle a fascinating Round 13 rollercoaster.

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne sent shockwaves through the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with an 80-78 home win over Real Madrid after Paris Lee netted a game-winning baseline floater to settle a fascinating Round 13 rollercoaster. The home team’s forward Andre Roberson also played a vital role in the frantic finale as he blocked Facundo Campazzo’s layup before dishing the assist to Lee from a side out with 1.8 seconds left on the clock. Lee almost defied the laws of physics to net the winner and send the home crowd into raptures.

Theo Maledon paced ASVEL with 23 points, Lee finished with 13 points and Mbaye Ndiaye chipped in with 12 for the home team, which led by 10 points and then trailed by as many in a see-saw battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish. At the other end, Mario Hezonja netted a team-high 19 points for Real but shot 2 of 10 from downtown, Gabriel Deck scored 17 and Walter Tavares racked up 10 points and 8 boards.

It was a high-scoring affair in the first quarter as both sides fired on all cylinders offensively, with the home team sharing the workload superbly while Eli Ndiaye nailed 3 triples from as many attempts at the other end to keep Real afloat. ASVEL was 9 of 11 from inside in the opening 10 minutes and the hosts carried that momentum into the second quarter, with Ndiaye giving the French team a 42-34 lead on the back of a four-point play.

The home team was up 53-43 ahead early in the third before Real beefed up its defense and turned the contest on its head with a 4-23 run. The hosts looked lost at sea as Campazzo peppered assists at the other end, while Hezonja found his range from inside to give Real a 59-69 lead early in the fourth.

Driven by Maledon, who sank 8 successive points, ASVEL engineered a 10-0 run to tie the score but Real looked the more likely winner when Hezonja nailed a deep three to fire the visitors 69-74 ahead. The Spanish side appeared to be home and dry after a three-point play from Tavares gave it a 73-78 advantage in the home straight, but the hosts forced a final twist and had the last laugh.

The brilliant Maledon sank a triple and then drove in a delightful reverse layup through traffic to tie the score, setting the stage for a heart-stopping climax. Campazzo thought he had won the game for Real but an official review overturned the initial call of Roberson’s goaltending. In an incredible twist of fortune. Roberson then teed up Lee to hit the game-winning floater from a nearly impossible angle at the death, giving ASVEL a memorable win while forcing Real into submission.

Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz secured an important 88-76 home victory in beating Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul for a second straight win and handing the visitors their first road loss of the season. Baskonia has now strung together back-to-back wins after a five-game losing streak to improve to 6-7.

Markus Howard led the way with 17 points on 5 three-pointers for Baskonia while Nikos Rogkavopoulos scored 15 points, Kamar Baldwin had 14 points and Donta Hall collected 14 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Fenerbahce had been the last undefeated team away from home at 5-0 but now drops to 9-4 overall with a second defeat in a row. Arturs Zagars and Tarik Biberovic both scored 13 points in the loss.

After Khem Birch put Fenerbahce on the board to start the game, Howard drained 3 triples and Tadas Sedekerskis added a long ball of his own for an 18-9 Baskonia lead. Kamar Baldwin also hit a triple and Rogkavopoulos had 4 points in the final stretch of the first quarter to give Baskonia a 26-12 lead. 

Sander Rieste started the second quarter with a three-pointer and Baskonia was up 29-12. Fenerbahce tried to get back into the game with triples from Biberovic and Zagars to make it 34-21. Baskonia came up with another big punch as Kamar Baldwin scored two baskets and Chima Moneke added 5 points in an 11-2 run to open a 45-23 gap. The score was 45-25 at the break.

Howard continued his hot outside shooting with a three-pointer and Hall scored after Trent Forrest nutmegged Nigel Hayes-Davis for a layup to make it 50-25. Fenerbahce finally scored after 3 minutes played and Wade Baldwin tallied 6 straight points to pull the visitors within 54-35. Howard ended the rut with his fifth three-pointer only to see Fenerbahce get the deficit down to 59-42. The score was 63-47 after 30 minutes as Zagars hit a long three at the buzzer.

Zagars opened the final frame with another triple and it was only a 13-point game. Rogkavopoulos had 2 triples and Sedekerskis added one in a stretch of 1:19 minutes as the advantage grew to 72-55. Hall followed with three straight dunks and the cushion was 78-60 with 5 minutes to play. Fenerbahce tried some defensive pressure and managed to create some mistakes and trimmed the gap to 86-74, but Hall threw down a putback dunk to end all doubts.

Paris Basketball remained atop the standings in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague after tossing aside Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv 81-93 at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall in Belgrade on Tuesday night.

Paris Basketball remained atop the standings in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague after tossing aside Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv 81-93 at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall in Belgrade on Tuesday night. Paris never trailed after the third minute and led by as many as 21 in the third quarter as it improved to 10-3 on the season. Maccabi lost for the fifth time in six games to fall to 4-9.

Freshly-crowned MVP of November TJ Shorts remained strong with 22 points and 8 assists to lead the winners. Maodo Lo contributed 19 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting, Nadir Hifi netted 15 points and Tyson Ward 14. For Maccabi, Levi Randolph led the way with 14 points, Jaylen Hoard, Rokas Jokubaitis and Marial Shayok each scored 12 and Jasiel Rivero 10.

In his first game since earning the MVP of the month honor, Shorts rattled in a triple for the game’s first points. Randolph raced down the floor to get Maccabi on the scoreboard. Ward heated up with a post-up and a triple as Paris jumped in front 4-8. Lo came off the bench for a pair of threes and Hifi made two more that put the visitors up 10-22. Maccabi's reserves gave the team a push with Rivero scoring twice in an 8-0 run to get within 18-22 after 10 minutes.   

Shorts, with 3 points and a dish to set up a Kevarrius Hayes dunk, continued to lead the Paris attack, while Rivero remained a force for Maccabi. After Rivero and Wenyen Gabriel both missed free throws, a three-pointer by Collin Malcolm gave Paris its first double-digit lead, 20-30. Lo's third three of the night made it 24-37. Bandja Sy continued the Paris three-point party and a layup by Hifi prompted a Maccabi timeout at 26-42. A jumper by Jokubaitis changed little as Hifi scored 5 quick points to further extend the lead. Maccabi captain John DiBartolomeo sank a put-back and a three-pointer and Randolph ended the half with a triple that made it 36-50.

Randolph made 3 free throws on the opening possession of the second half only to see Shorts fuel a 0-10 run, which Ward capped with a fastbreak alley-oop slam to push Paris’s lead above the 20-point mark. Shayok ended the Maccabi drought with the team’s first basket in 4 and a half minutes. Shayok soon drilled a three to make it 49-62. Jumpers by Randolph and Jokubaitis drew Maccabi within 10. After a leaner by Shorts, Jokubaitis scored to end the third quarter at 58-68.

Shayok got Maccabi within 8 with the first basket of the fourth quarter. Shorts restored the double-digit Paris advantage, though Roman Sorkin kept Maccabi afloat with a jumper and a put-back. Lo made a three on a three-chance possession and Shorts added a layup for a 69-82 cushion. Hoard scored 5 points to rally Maccabi again. It was 78-86 after Rivero's free throws with 3 minutes remaining. A Shorts-to-Ward alley-oop slam put Paris up 12 and all but sealed the outcome.  

Paris collected 19 offensive rebounds and scored 20 points off turnovers in the win

Anadolu Efes returned to winning ways after back-to-back defeats by beating FC Bayern Basketball 101-90 in an offensive shootout in Round 13.

Anadolu Efes Istanbul returned to winning ways in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague by topping FC Bayern Munich 101-90 at home in Round 13 on Tuesday. Efes improved to 7-6 in the standings while Bayern dropped to 8-5. 

Darius Thompson led the winners with 19 points. Dan Oturu added 14, Ercan Osmani and Rolands Smits each had 13, Jordan Nwora got 12 while Elijah Bryant contributed 10. Devin Booked paced Bayern with a career-high 27 points. Carsen Edwards added 20 while Nick Weiler-Babb had 17.

Edwards got Bayern going with a driving layup and Booker erased Rodrigue Beabouis's layup with a fast-break dunk for a 2-4 lead. Justus Hollatz scored in penetration and Vincent Poirier added a floater to give Efes its first lead, 6-4. Osmani stepped up with a driving layup and a three-pointer that boosted the hosts' lead to 11-8. Thompson also struck from downtown, then Osmani and Booker traded baskets before Poirier's jump hook gave his team a 18-10 margin. Booker kept pacing Bayern and Onuralp Bitim's jumper kept the visitors within 20-16. Booker followed a put-back slam with a layup and added a floater soon after. Thompson and Osmani rescued Efes, then Bryant's nine-meter triple gave the hosts a 27-22 lead after 10 minutes.

Oturu took over with an alley-oop dunk early in the second quarter. Nwora scored in the low post and Bryant's fadeaway jumper made it a double-digit game, 33-23. Shabazz Napier stepped up with a reverse layup, then Niels Giffey and Edwards each struck from downtown to bring Bayern as close as 35-31. Oturu ignited the crowd with an alley-oop slam, then Edwards and Nwora traded triples. Oturu dunked again to make Bayern call a timeout at 42-34. Oturu and Nwora remained unstoppable, then Smits capped a 12-0 Efes run with a reverse layup. Booker scored in the paint and fed Johannes Voigtmann for a layup, but Smits and an unstoppable Oturu made it a 16-point game, 54-38. Booker silenced the crowd with a power layup and another put-back dunk, getting help from Voigtmann and Edwards to bring Bayern within 56-48 at halftime.

Thompson scored off a midcourt steal soon after the break and Oturu bettered Booker's one-handed alley-oop slam with a three-point play, good for a 62-50 Efes lead. Weiler-Babb struck twice from downtown to keep Bayern within 64-56. Thompson beat the shot clock with a three-pointer, Edwards found space for a wide open layup and Weiler-Babb got the guests even closer, 67-60. Booker downed a mid-range jumper, Bryant and a red hot Weiler-Babb traded triples and Nwora's floater gave Efes fresh air at 72-65. Weiler-Babb buried his fourth and fifth three-pointer, then Edwards brought Bayern within 74-73 after 30 minutes.

Thompson stepped up with a driving layup early in the fourth quarter and Smits added a jump hook that gave Efes fresh air, 78-73. Smits bettered Booker's with a corner triple, Kevin Yebo and a red-hot Thompson traded put-back layups and Napier's fast-break basket kept Bayern as close as 83-79. Smits finished a three-chance Efes offense with a three-point play, Edwards scored in penetration and Nwora's dunk ignited the crowd at 88-81. Napier buried a three-pointer and erased Poirier's close basket with a layup. Thompson and Beaubois each buried a critical three-pointer that sealed the outcome, 96-88, with over 2 minutes left. Bryant buried a floater and Beaubois's three-pointer allowed Efes to celebrate a well-deserved win in style.

Euroleague Basketball is excited to announce the launch of a new monthly video series titled "Inside the Whistle". This innovative series will provide fans with an inside look at some key calls in both the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and BKT EuroCup, as referees break down and explain specific plays in certain games.

With the aim of educating fans on the rules of basketball and enhancing transparency in officiating, "Inside the Whistle" will feature detailed explanations of plays from both the EuroLeague and EuroCup. The first episode of "Inside the Whistle" includes three clips from EuroLeague games and one from the EuroCup, with explanations given for the decisions taken on the floor. Future episodes of "Inside the Whistle" will dive into some of the key rule types that are often discussed among fans, such as goaltending, unsportsmanlike fouls, and fouls in the act of shooting.

The series will be released on a monthly basis, with each episode providing in-depth justifications on why these calls were made, with active and former referees offering a unique perspective on why a decision was made and the mechanics behind it.

The first week of December features another double round in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and that means EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge managers have a double the chance to improve their teams in private leagues and the overall standings. 

I went for players who have been in really good form recently, ranging from 13.1 credits to 4.5. Something for everyone! Here are my recommendations for the double-round week.

EuroCup Fantasy tips: Rounds 13-14

### Malte Delow, ALBA Berlin (4.5 credits) 

ALBA is bringing back some players. The latest is Matt Thomas, who played in the German League this weekend. [Malte Delow](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/malte-delow/008211/) returned three weeks ago and has been doing really well. In his sixth season in the competition, Delow is averaging 8.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and a PIR of 11.0. It is getting harder to find good, cheap players in the game, but Delow is definitely one of them. 

### Alpha Diallo, AS Monaco (13.1 credits) 

Monaco appointed Vassilis Spanoulis as head coach and immediately registered an 88-91 road win over defending champion Panathinaikos. Some players rose to the occasion: Mike James had 10 assists and just 1 turnover. [Alpha Diallo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/alpha-diallo/011226/) was just sensational: 24 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 7 fouls drawn and a PIR of 35. Can Diallo keep doing that well? I believe he can, being a natural mismatch. 

### Rokas Jokubaitis, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv (10.5 credits)

Maccabi broke a five-game losing streak with a big road victory over ALBA Berlin. [Rokas Jokubaitis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/rokas-jokubaitis/007519/) confirmed his role as the team's go-to guy with 24 points on 11-of-13 two-pointers, 6 assists, 1 turnover and a PIR of 29. He has had 50 assists and just 8 turnovers so far this season. His amazing effectiveness and affordable price make him one of the biggest fantasy bargains right now.

### Donta Hall, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (12.4 credits)  

Baskonia returned to winning ways last week, downing Zalgiris 70-83 on the road. [Donta Hall](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/donta-hall/011196/) had an outstanding game, leading Baskonia with 14 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and a game-high PIR of 25. He has had two double-doubles in the last three games, averaging 11.7 points on 13-of-20 two-pointers, 8.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. Good centers are always hard to find in fantasy, so I'd recommend going for Hall. 

### Isaia Cordinier, Virtus Segafredo Bologna (12.5 credits) 

A high-scoring game is expected between Virtus and ALBA, which looks like a perfect fit for [Isaia Cordinier](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/isaia-cordinier/009549/)'s athleticism and ability to play in transition. He has been playing really well, too, getting a PIR of 15 or better in four of his last five games. In Round 12, Cordinier had 16 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and a PIR of 28. Everything seems ready for him to click in this double round.

Bayern suffered its heaviest defeat of the season with last week’s 24-points margin at Zvezda, so Gordie Herbert will be keen for his players to regain their usual competitive edge. That includes a return to form for [Carsen Edwards](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/carsen-edwards/011987/), who leads the league with 19.8 points per game but scored just 3 on 1-of-8 field-goal shooting in Belgrade. A bright spot was recent signing [Onuralp Bitim](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/onuralp-bitim/007929/), who scored 13 points in just his second game and now returns to face his former club. Efes will counter him through [Rodrigue Beaubois](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/rodrigue-beaubois/006590/), who has made at least one three-pointer in eight straight games.

### LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne vs. Real Madrid (20:00 CET)

After claiming its first road win of the season with last week's *Clásico* thriller, Real (6-6) will attempt to keep climbing the standings with a tough trip to improving ASVEL (4-8). The French team has won two of its last three games behind the excellence of [Theo Maledon](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/theo-maledon/007027/), and ASVEL will also test Real’s perimeter defense with the league’s most accurate three-point shooting game – [Nando De Colo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nando-de-colo/002100/) (11.1 points per game) is one of six ASVEL players shooting at least 40% from downtown. Real’s battling win in Barcelona owed a lot to the magical little and large duo of [Facundo Campazzo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/facundo-campazzo/005928/), who ranks second in the league in assists with 7.7 per night, and Round 12 MVP [Walter Tavares](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/walter-tavares/005791/), whose average of 8.4 rebounds is far better than anyone else.

### Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv vs. Paris Basketball (20:05 CET)

Co-leader Paris's efforts to claim a ninth straight victory will be tested by a Maccabi team boosted by last week's big win at ALBA. November MVP [TJ Shorts](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tj-shorts/012608/), who averages 21.3 points and 8.5 assists over the last four games, will face a fascinating backcourt duel with Maccabi playmaker [Rokas Jokubaitis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/rokas-jokubaitis/007519/), who ranks fourth in the league in assists (5.6 per game) and also poured in 24 points as his team netted 103 total last week. That included another big contribution from [Jaylen Hoard](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/jaylen-hoard/006835/), who has averaged 18.0 points over the last four games. This is a meeting between the second- and third-best offensive rebounding units in the league (12.4 and 12.3 respectively), so protecting the defensive glass will be key for the likes of fit-again [Jasiel Rivero](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jasiel-rivero/011214/) (5.4 rebounds per night) and [Tyson Ward](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tyson-ward/012610/) (5.5 rpg).

### Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens vs. FC Barcelona (20:15 CET)

A major showdown between two of the four teams tied for fifth place will see Panathinaikos (7-5) attempt to end a two-game losing streak against similarly struggling Barcelona (7-5), which has lost three in a row. Greens playmaker [Kostas Sloukas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kostas-sloukas/001926/) will make his 400th career appearance and attempt to outshine one of the league's fastest rising backcourt stars, [Juan Nunez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/juan-nunez/010106/). Barcelona will have to deal with the athleticism of [Mathias Lessort](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mathias-lessort/003842/), who has averaged 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds over the last four games. That will involve stretching the floor through [Jan Vesely](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jan-vesely/000925/), who is on track to attempt more three-point shots than any season since 2011. Fast-improving Partizan will attempt to claim a third straight win against a Zalgiris team which has lost four of the last five. Partizan’s latest victory, over Olympiacos last week, owed a lot to efficient collective play with just 5 turnovers committed, and [Carlik Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/carlik-jones/013369/) will attempt to maintain the playmaking which saw him make 8 assists with no turnovers in that big win. There was also a strong performance from big man [Brandon Davies](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/brandon-davies/007870/) (12 points, 5 rebounds), and he will now go up against his former club and a matchup with [Laurynas Birutis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/laurynas-birutis/005504/), who is searching for a return to form after totaling just 4 points in the last three games. Partizan will have to defend the deep threat of [Deividas Sirvydis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/deividas-sirvydis/007029/), who has made 9 triples in the last two games.

### Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz vs. Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul (20:30 CET)

Boosted by last week's impressive win in Kaunas, Baskonia (5-7) will look to claim another big win by downing high-flying co-leader Fenerbahce (9-3). The Spanish team would love key scorer [Markus Howard](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/markus-howard/011948/) to emerge from a shocking slump which has seen him miss all 21 of his three-point attempts in the last four games, but will hope for more inside dominance from [Donta Hall](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/donta-hall/011196/) after his double-double of 14 points and 11 boards against Zalgiris. Vassilis Spanoulis faces his first home game as Monaco coach (8-4) in a romantic reunion with his former playing club Olympiacos (8-4), in a showdown between two of the three tied currently tied in third place. The visiting team will avoid sympathetic nostalgia as it seeks a return to winning ways, and will focus on slowing down the all-round threat of [Mike James](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mike-james/005985/) after he dished 10 assists in Spanoulis’s debut victory at Panathinaikos on Friday. In Wednesday’s final tipoff, the league's bottom two teams play for the prize of climbing away from last place as Virtus (2-10) hosts ALBA (2-10). Virtus, which has lost four in a row, needs better backboard protection after averaging a league-low 31.6 rebounds – a big deficit to ALBA, which ranks third in rebounding with 36.3 per night in large part thanks to [Trevion Williams](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/trevion-williams/012604/) grabbing 7.5 per game. ALBA’s struggling defense, which has allowed a league-high 91.6 points per game, will be tested by the back-in-form [Will Clyburn](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/will-clyburn/004888/), who scored 25 points on 5-of-8 three-point shooting in last week’s narrow loss at Paris. Paris is in the midst of an eight-game winning streak, with five of those being included in the period for the November MVP award, which has seen Shorts’s team improve to a 9-3 record and go joint top of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings.

Over the last five games, Shorts has shown that he can score and assist at an elite level in the EuroLeague, averaging 19.6 points per game over that stretch and a league-best 8.4 assists per game. What’s more, he has averaged a 25.2 PIR, comfortably the highest of any player in the November MVP race, and his plus/minus is the joint highest of any player this month, level with Paris teammate Mikael Jantunen.

Against Partizan, Shorts hit a pair of clutch free throws with 22 seconds left to help Paris regain the lead, with the Parisian outfit remaining in front the rest of the way. When Zalgiris came to town, Shorts netted 21 points – the third time he had gone above 20 points this season – before following that up with a 24-point, 9-assist performance at Barcelona, which was unbeaten at home until that point. His 3 steals in that win at Barcelona tied his career high, which he set in Round 1.

He didn’t stop there. At Efes, Shorts recorded his second EuroLeague double-double by pairing 21 points with 10 assists, before posting 19 points and 9 assists – including a dagger two-pointer – in a win over Virtus in Paris. After shooting 2 for 15 on three-pointers through the first seven rounds of the EuroLeague season, Shorts – who didn’t attempt a three-point shot in Round 8 – is 6 for 7 from deep over the last four games.

The MVP of the Month is named by Euroleague Basketball based on his and his team's performances. The award for November covered the five games played by all teams between Thursday, November 7, and Friday, November 29.

This marks the first time that Shorts has earned monthly MVP honors in what is his rookie season in the competition, and this is the first time a Paris player has secured the award.
