Facundo Campazzo is eligible to play in Round 2 of the 2024-25 EuroLeague season following Real Madrid's decision to appeal his suspension.

Appeals Judge provisional measure on Facundo Campazzo sanction

Following the appeal submitted by Real Madrid and the player regarding the sanction imposed on [Facundo Campazzo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/facundo-campazzo/005928/) for actions that represent a lack of respect towards the referees during its away game against FC Bayern Munich, the Appeals Judge has granted the provisional measure of the stay of execution of the sanction.

As a consequence of the above, Campazzo is authorized to participate in Euroleague Basketball competitions until the appeal is fully resolved.

Here is a curious fact for you: LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne has never beaten Virtus Segafredo Bologna in a home game. The French side is currently on a three-game losing streak to the Italian team – home or away – and has recorded two wins from their six games against one another, with both coming on the road (in Round 1 of the 2002-03 season and Round 6 of the 2022-23 campaign).

Well, I think this week will see ASVEL defeat Virtus at the Astroballe and send the home fans happy. Pierric Poupet's men held their own against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv in Belgrade last week, and I expect the likes of [Theo Maledon](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/theo-maledon/007027/), [Paris Lee](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/paris-lee/011225/) and [Joffrey Lauvergne](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/joffrey-lauvergne/004194/) to get ASVEL over the line this time around. Guard [Nando De Colo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nando-de-colo/002100/) could reach the 4,500-point mark in his EuroLeague career with 14 points against Virtus, so it should be a night of celebration for everyone inside the Astroballe, just days after grabbing a big win over AS Monaco in the French League.

### Nunn and Napier will light up the scoreboard

The top scorer in the opening round of the season was FC Bayern Munich's [Shabazz Napier](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/shabazz-napier/011224/), who led the way as his team beat Real Madrid in the first-ever EuroLeague game at SAP Garden. Napier netted 28 points on the night, three shy of his career high and his third-highest total across three seasons in the competition. 

[Kendrick Nunn](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kendrick-nunn/012774/), meanwhile, was Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens's leading scorer in Round 1, pouring in 16 points. Nunn, who earned All-EuroLeague First Team honors last season en route to helping Panathinaikos win the title, has averaged 16.0 points across 36 appearances since making his EuroLeague debut. 

When Panathinaikos hosts Bayern on Thursday night, I believe Nunn will make the Greens' first home game since winning the title extra special. I also cannot shake the feeling that Napier will pick up where he left off in Round 1, and perhaps even better it. So, I predict that both men will score at least 25 points.

### Partizan parties out in Madrid

I do not believe too much in institutional memory. So let’s be clear, this pick is not about revenge for the visitors. I certainly do not believe that a Partizan side that includes only one player from the famous 2023 playoff series ([Balsa Koprivica](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/balsa-koprivica/011050/) played 67 seconds in Game 3), will be motivated by that series. What I do believe is that Coach Zeljko Obradovic is sitting on an insanely deep, talented and hungry team. 

On the other hand, Real Madrid, which has struggled so far this season domestically and dropped its first EuroLeague game, [should be with without the suspended Facu Campazzo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/news/round-1-disciplinary-sanctions-tae2425/). The Argentinian playmaker led *Los Blancos* in points and assists (19 and 9) in Round 1. Against Bayern, Real was outscored by 13 points in the 12 and a half minutes during which Campazzo rested. Add it all up and there is a tremendous opportunity for Partizan to win a regular-season game in Madrid for the first time.

I love that the club took a chance on Tiago Splitter, who I think will be an amazing coach in the not-too-distant future, and the team’s guard duo of [TJ Shorts](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tj-shorts/012608/) and [Nadir Hifi](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nadir-hifi/012640/) are must-watch TV. Add in [Maodo Lo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/maodo-lo/007032/), [Kevarrius Hayes](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/kevarrius-hayes/010390/), [Mikael Jantunen](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/mikael-jantunen/012613/) and [Tyson Ward](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tyson-ward/012610/) and you get a team that will give their all on a night in, night out basis.

Paris may have lost in Round 1 to Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, but I have an inkling that the side from the French capital can pull off a huge shock and defeat EA7 Emporio Armani Milan on the road in Round 2. Crazy? Maybe. But Paris’s high-tempo, up-and-down game could make things very, very interesting at Unipol Forum. Watch out for a big game from Lo on his first return to Milan, too.

The forward got injured in a Spanish League game against Hiopos Lleida last Sunday. He had been enjoying a strong start to the season domestically, averaging 16.0 points on outstanding shooting (81.8% 2FG, 80.0% 3FG) and a PIR of 19.5 in two Spanish League games. 

In Round 1 of the 2024-25 EuroLeague season, Parra did not play due to a coach's decision during his team's opening-round defeat at Zalgiris Kaunas.

As Bayern revealed in a statement, Giffey successfully underwent surgery on Tuesday morning on the affected ring finger of his left hand.

The 33-year-old played 18:36 minutes for Bayern in its Round 1 win at home to Real Madrid, posting 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block. That 97-89 triumph was the first EuroLeague game to be played at the newly opened SAP Garden.

Giffey is also an important member of the German national team, having helped his nation win the 2023 FIBA World Cup and secure a fourth-placed finish at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Andrea Trinchieri has coached some incredible players over more than two decades, including some Turkish Airlines EuroLeague stars. Fantasy Challenge tips, Round 2: strategy is everything!

The 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season is underway! Round 2 is a very strategic one in the EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge as there are three turns of games. 

Yes, that's right: two games are played on Wednesday, four more on Thursday and the remaining three on Friday to wrap things up. That gives you plenty of choices, especially when it comes to choosing a team captain.

Unless you trust someone in particular to get a good score, at your own risk, try to have one good player per turn, just in case. That's why I am recommending players in all three turns before Round 2.

EuroLeague Fantasy tips: Round 2

### Martin Hermannsson, ALBA Berlin (8.3 credits)

Injury-free and experienced, [Martin Hermannsson](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/martin-hermannsson/008780/) is seeing extended playing time due to ALBA's many backcourt injuries. He has made the most out of it, too, getting a PIR of 18 against Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens in Round 1, and following that up with another solid performance in the German League this weekend: 16 points, 8 assists and a PIR of 22. All for less than 9.0 credits. Extremely recommended.

### Jasiel Rivero, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv (10.7 credits)

Maccabi comes off a good win and gets to play against AS Monaco. Everyone has an eye on Tamir Blatt, who will be the most-bought player in Round 2. [Jasiel Rivero](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jasiel-rivero/011214/) can be a steal because he is seeing more playing time and comes off a really solid game in Round 1 in which he did a little bit of everything: 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks. A really solid choice at center who is playing on Wednesday.

### Dan Oturu, Anadolu Efes Istanbul (10.8 credits)

Yes, [Dan Oturu](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/dan-oturu/012788/) came off the bench in Round 1 and Efes plays a Turkish derby against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in Round 2. Oturu has been in great shape and proved that right away. In a low-scoring game against Virtus, Oturu had 14 points and 9 rebounds in almost 26 minutes. He has had a really strong pre-season and can play alongside Vincent Poirier, becoming a key player in Efes's frontcourt.

### Tadas Sedekerskis, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (13.1 credits)

Another Wednesday choice as team captain to give you the edge right away, early in Round 1. Just as last season, [Tadas Sedekerskis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tadas-sedekerskis/007230/) has started this campaign in excellent shape. He had 14 points, 6 rebounds and a PIR of 21 in his team's EuroLeague opener against Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, and also had a solid game in the Spanish League this weekend: 14 points, 7 rebounds and a PIR of 23. What can go wrong with Tadas?

You need a reliable player on Friday in case everything goes wrong. [TJ Shorts](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tj-shorts/012608/) is perfect as Paris plays on Friday and he rarely has bad games. Last season, he had a PIR of 20 or higher in all EuroCup playoff games, and just two single-digit PIR games all season. I hear you, it was the EuroCup, but Shorts has the same role in the EuroLeague and had a PIR of 21 in Round 1. He has great fantasy value.

Among half a dozen reinforcements who joined the Turkish team during the off season, versatile guard Wade Baldwin stood out with a clinical performance on his debut for Fenerbahce.

A revamped Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul made a statement of intent in the opening Round of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague when it earned an impressive 82-71 win over perennial rival Olympiacos Piraeus on the back of inspired performances from new arrivals. Among half a dozen reinforcements who joined the Turkish team during the off season, versatile guard Wade Baldwin stood out with a clinical performance on his debut for Fenerbahce.

Fittingly, Baldwin shined against one of his former clubs as he racked up 19 points, 7 assists and 5 boards, having played at Olympiacos in the 2019-2020 season before spells with Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, FC Bayern Munich and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.

Showing the maturity of a team leader, Baldwin turned on the heat in the second half with trademark mid-range shots off the dribble after being the facilitator in the opening two quarters, when he dished out assists like confetti.

Yet, Baldwin humbly credited one of the team’s stalwarts, Nigel Hayes-Davis, as the forward’s superb fourth-quarter performance allowed Fenerbahce to force Olympiacos into submission after a titanic tussle.

“Nigel closed it out for us. He was a bit quiet throughout the game and in the fourth quarter he turned it on,” Baldwin told EuroLeague TV after the game. “A very important win in front of our home crowd, it was my first experience as a Fenerbahce player,” he added.

Baldwin also praised his teammates, who found another gear after Fenerbahce trailed 32-36 at halftime in the wake of aggressive defense from Olympiacos.

“I just wanted to give my 100 percent effort at both ends of the floor and I think I achieved that,” he stated. “The whole team achieved that, we played very hard today. We took better care of the ball in the second half, we found our spots and a little bit of weakness in their defense.”

New-look teams usually take time to gel but it seems Fenerbahce head coach Saras Jasikevicius has hit the ground running in assembling a outfit which already looks capable of challenging for its second EuroLeague title, having won its maiden trophy in 2017.

Forward Bonzie Colson, who joined the club alongside Baldwin from Maccabi, made a telling contribution with 10 points and 9 boards, while towering center Boban Marjanovic used his decade-long experience in the NBA to good effect with 8 points and 4 rebounds.

Last but not least, veteran swingman Nicolo Melli also played a big part at the start of his second stint with Fenerbahce, posting 5 points and 7 boards after he came off the bench.

Colson quickly pointed out that Fenerbahce needs to keep working hard in order to maximize its potentials in what should be an enthralling season in Europe’s premier club competition.

“Olympiacos applied great pressure up and down the floor but we stuck to our principles, he said. “We took what their defense gave us and we’ve now got to build on our first win of the season. “We knew we had to come out strong in the third quarter and we hit some shots, so it was a great team win for us.”

In his post-game comments, Jasikevicius rued a serious injury to guard Scottie Wilbekin, as it turned out to be a torn knee ligament after the scan, while praising his team for perseverance.  

“At this point you just need to take wins and not lose players,” said the Lithuanian tactician. “Scottie’s health is much more important now than the win but it’s great to beat such a good team in the opening game of the season.

“Olympiacos is a fantastic team, they know exactly how to play and what they are doing. It’s almost impossible to knock them out of their stride but ultimately we eked it out.”
