### No-rest LeDay shined for Partizan

Partizan scored 100 points for the first time this season on Thursday, an offensive performance that recalled the Partizan of last season. Now, as then, the offensive show had [Zach LeDay's](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/zach-leday/008987/) fingerprints all over it. LeDay played every second of the [100-90](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/game-center/2023-24/partizan-mozzart-bet-belgrade-anadolu-efes-istanbul/E2023/236/) win over Anadolu Efes Istanbul, and had one of his most complete performances of the season. He finished with 21 points, making 7 of 10 two-point shots, and grabbed 8 rebounds. Head coach Zeljko Obradovic was full of praise for his power forward as Partizan got a much-needed win to snap a three-game losing streak and improve its chances in the race for postseason places.

Zach LeDay played every second of the 100-90 win over Anadolu Efes Istanbul, and had one of his most complete performances of the season. He finished with 21 points, making 7 of 10 two-point shots, and grabbed 8 rebounds.

### Strazel gave Monaco a first-half boost

[Matthew Strazel](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/matthew-strazel/008099/) played his best game of the season for AS Monaco in [67-77](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/game-center/2023-24/fc-barcelona-as-monaco/E2023/240/) win at FC Barcelona. In his first appearance since Round 21, and only his 10th of the season, Strazel had a season-high 13 points, 3 assists and a steal, playing 18 minutes. He scored 11 points in the first half to get Monaco going offensively, a much-needed boost as his team had trailed by 9 points early on. Monaco got back in the game behind the 21-year-old, whose contribution was needed with Jordan Loyd missing in action. Strazel proved that there is even more depth in Monaco's already-deep backcourt.

### Calathes added to his double-double tally

Friday's game between Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz was a fast-paced affair that ended up with Fenerbahce setting a new club scoring record in a [111-96](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/game-center/2023-24/fenerbahce-beko-istanbul-baskonia-vitoria-gasteiz/E2023/242/) victory. Fenerbahce also set a club record with 32 assists, 12 of which were the doing of the EuroLeague's all-time assists leader, [Nick Calathes](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nick-calathes/001932/). In this game, Calathes also had 11 points and 2 steals, which tied him with Dimitris Diamantidis atop the all-time steals charts, as now both have 434. It was Calathes's first double-double of the season and 44th of his career, which ranks him second all-time, behind only Mirsad Turkcan. All things considered, Calathes was pivotal to what proved an entertaining night for Fenerbahce fans as their team improved to 12-1 at home and 16-11 overall.

Nick Calathes has 12 assists, along with 11 points and 2 steals, for his first double-double of the season and 44th of his career.

### Diez's best shooting night

On the opposite side in that game was Baskonia's [Dani Diez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/daniel-diez/003198/), who enjoyed a career-best shooting night. Diez scored 15 points on 5-for-5 three-point shooting, a personal best. That's the most points Diez has scored in a EuroLeague game since dropping a career-high 21 playing for Unicaja Malaga against Barcelona nearly six years ago. On this night in Istanbul, Diez also pulled down 6 rebounds and had a team-high PIR of 23. Diez hit all his three-pointers in the first three quarters, the last one to beat the third-quarter buzzer and tie the game at 78-78, but his perfect shooting night was not enough for Baskonia to pull out a win in Istanbul.

### Mickey did everything for Virtus

Virtus Segafredo Bologna downed Valencia Basket [87-74](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/game-center/2023-24/virtus-segafredo-bologna-valencia-basket/E2023/238/) to keep its hat in the race for home-court advantage in the playoffs. Big man [Jordan Mickey](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/jordan-mickey/008847/) came up huge on both ends of the floor in the win. Mickey scored 14 points, his best since Round 3, and pulled down 7 rebounds, one shy of his season high. Mickey also had a season-high 3 steals and delivered 3 blocks. He finished the game with a PIR of 20, which was his best since the season opener, and had a +17 in the plus/minus column, tied for team high. It was a much-needed effort from Mickey in an important win.

Nando De Colo made his first appearance post-injury and helped guide LDLC ASVEL to a win over Olimpia Milano in EuroLeague action.

While all the chat in recent weeks and months has been about [Mike James](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mike-james/005985/) and the race to become the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague’s all-time leading scorer, [Nando De Colo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nando-de-colo/002100/) has had to watch on while dealing with an injury.

The Frenchman had been in second spot ever since passing [Juan Carlos Navarro](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/juan-carlos-navarro/adi/), but a two-and-a-half-month spell on the sidelines allowed James to surpass him, with the American now 11 points behind [Vassilis Spanoulis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/vassilis-spanoulis/juo/) in first.

### De Colo’s impact at ASVEL

De Colo made his return to action [in Round 27 against EA7 Emporio Armani Milan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/euroleague-live-blog-ldlc-asvel-vs-olimpia-milano/), having last featured in Round 15 against the same opponent, but he revealed how he was still helping his LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne teammates during his most recent knock.

“I always helped the team when I was out, but it’s obviously easier when you are on the court,” De Colo said after ASVEL’s 81-77 win over Milan on Friday night. “Right now, it is a good moment to stick together and to finish the season strong. We had a lot of ups and downs this season and for me it’s great to be back.”

De Colo was not included in the starting five against Milan, but as soon as he stepped on the court he demonstrated with his trademark professionalism that he would fight for every possession. The two-time EuroLeague winner finished the game with 13 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds. He also recorded 4 steals to reach a total of 323 in his career. In fact, only five players have registered more steals in the history of the competition.

### History at LDLC Arena

The two ASVEL veterans, De Colo and Joffrey Lauvergne, combined for 30 points to lead their team to a first-ever victory at LDLC Arena.

“It was really important for us to win tonight,” De Colo added. “At last, we’ve got our first win at this arena. I’m sure you can imagine how good the feeling is now for us and also for the fans.”

ASVEL had previously lost all its first six games at their new arena, including a double-overtime defeat to FC Bayern Munich, as well as a narrow 76-77 loss to EuroLeague leader Real Madrid.

“I told the guys in the locker room that they’ve just made history and that this win means that they will be remembered as the first team to ever get a win at LDLC Arena,” an excited head coach Pierric Poupet noted during the post-game press conference.

After scoring 13 against Milan, De Colo currently ranks third in the all-time scorers list with 4,396 points. James is second with 4,444 points and EuroLeague legend Vassilis Spanoulis sits atop the rankings with 4,455.

While James is expected to pass the former Olympiacos Piraeus captain in the next few games, De Colo proved on Friday night that the race for the top spot is on. With seven games to go until the end of the season, the ASVEL guard will have the opportunity to overtake Spanoulis this term and, as he showed on Friday night, he’s still got plenty left in the tank.

Lessort inspired Panathinaikos to an 86-97 win at Real Madrid, which was defeated at WiZink Center for the first time this season. The French big man posted a career-high 26 points after going 12-of-14 on two-pointers and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Those 12 made two-pointers matched a club record in 605 EuroLeague games. Lessort also had 7 rebounds, including 3 on the offensive end, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. His 33 PIR is the fourth-highest total of his 122-game career. This is Lessort’s third MVP of the Round honor, all of which have come this season.

Vesely, meanwhile, posted a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double, in addition to dishing 1 assist and making 3 steals, in a 67-77 defeat to AS Monaco. Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s [Wade Baldwin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/wade-baldwin-iv/009863/) had a 28 PIR after recording 16 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in a dominant 71-106 triumph at ALBA Berlin. AS Monaco Basket notched its sixth straight win in the EuroLeague by defeating Barça Basket 67-77 at Palau Blaugrana on Friday night.

'Unbelievable' win in Barcelona had Monaco all smiling

Maybe [AS Monaco's win over FC Barcelona](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/euroleague-live-blog-fc-barcelona-vs-as-monaco-basket/) on Friday night was not pretty, but it doesn't have to be, not when you come away from Palau Blaugrana with the victory. 

That 67-77 triumph was Monaco's sixth win in a row, which has kept the team with a share of the third-best record (17-10) and brought it just one win behind second-placed Barca in the standings.

"Every win is important, especially beating a direct opponent for high position in the standings," said a visibly satisfied Sasa Obradovic, Monaco's head coach. "An unbelievable win, even if we had a little bit of problems."

### Monaco were off the mark from deep

The problems Obradovic was referring to were of an offensive nature, especially from long range.

Monaco made just 1-of-11 three-point shots in the first half, before finishing the game 6-of-25 from three-point land.

However, the team found a way to make up for it.

Barcelona failed to score more than 16 points in each of the last three quarters, even though the hosts did have their share of open looks that could have seen the game finish with a different outcome. But Monaco kept protecting its glass while holding Barcelona to just 48.7% two-point shooting and 14.8% on threes.

"The team reacted great. We were very physical and we won the game defensively," Obradovic noted.

A showdown with two genuine championship-contenders awaits. Monaco's star Mike James hunts down 29 points to make him the competition's all-time leading scorer, but Barça's combo guard Nico Laprovittola is expected to have a say as will Tomas Satoransky in controlling possession in the backcourt.

This win confirmed that even after the break, Monaco is the hottest team in the competition.

"Six in a row is always supposed to be good," Obradovic said with a smile.

He probably does not want to look too far, but Monaco plays five of its seven games on its home floor, and all of those games come against teams who currently hold a losing record.

With 17 points against Barca, he is just 12 shy of surpassing Olympiacos Piraeus great [Vassilis Spanoulis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/vassilis-spanoulis/juo/).

"I am going to break the record eventually. It did not have to be today," James, clearly in the good mood, remarked after the game. "It is better that we won, especially it helps us out in the standings."

The next chance he has is against the 10-17 Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade next Thursday night.

The big man revealed he was inspired by the presence of his family and stressed just how vital the outcome was in Bayern’s quest to make the post-season.  “My family is in town, so they gave me a bit of an extra boost and motivation,” Booker said in a flash post-game interview.

“I came out and played hard from the beginning, we played a great defensive game, so that’s where the momentum came from. We’re trying to take it one game at a time, so this is where our main focus is right now. It’s a very important win.”

### Bayern’s other veterans helped out, too

Apart from Booker, [Serge Ibaka](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/serge-ibaka/003583/) also played a key role with 12 points and 8 rebounds, prompting head coach Pablo Laso to praise both men while also singling out forward [Vladimir Lucic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/vladimir-lucic/001288/).

“It took us a little bit to get into the game defensively and for 37 minutes we played very solid,” the Spaniard commented. “We made some mistakes, but in general we did a very good job. We will fight until the end, that’s how we have to approach the rest of the season.

“Apart from Booker and Ibaka, Lucic played great on both ends of the floor as he defended and passed the ball really well. Devin did a great job on his comeback after almost a month out, it was his most impressive shooting night and I am very happy for him.”

Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius admitted he was not sure what he was going to get from his players against Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Following a break due to the FIBA window, which saw Turkish Airlines EuroLeague players representing their countries just a few days ago, it was normal that there was a bit of uncertainty coming into Round 27.

"These situations are a little bit strange. You give the guys a few days off and they disconnect, some guys go to their national team, and we get back together two days before the game", Jasikevicius said. "Everybody was really excited to play, and it showed on the offensive end."

### Fenerbahce caught fire on offense

It proved to work a treat for Fenerbahce — on offense at least. The Turkish side set a new club scoring record in [an 111-96 win against Baskonia](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/euroleague-live-blog-fenerbahce-beko-istanbul-vs-baskonia-vitoria-gasteiz/), while it also dished 32 assists. Fenerbahce's previous record highs were 109 points and 29 assists.

Coach Jasikevicius's charges also started the game by hitting their first 8 three-point shots before finishing the night 19-of-34 from long range, just one three-pointer shy of another club record. All that came with just 6 turnovers.

"We were not so good on the defensive end, but that's most likely why we have so many records", Jasikevicius joked after the game.

December 2023's meeting was a thriller, won by Baskonia on the back of 28 points from three-point specialist Markus Howard and a double-double by Maik Kotsar. Fenerbahce were led by Nigel Hayes-Davis, who aims to restore form after scoring just 4 in the pre-break defeats to Monaco and Panathinaikos.

### Biberovic, Sestina made a big impact

Two guys off the bench came up big on the night, too.

[Tarik Biberovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/tarik-biberovic/006961/) went 5-for-5 from long range in the third quarter and finished with 17 points, while [Nate Sestina](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nathan-sestina/011980/) scored 14 points in 14:28 on the floor, having hit 4-of-6 triples.

"I always tell Tarik he's got a top-four prettiest jumper on planet Earth, and Nate's been doing fantastic", forward [Nigel Hayes-Davis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nigel-hayes-davis/008962/) glowingly remarked about his teammates.

Hayes-David paced all scorers with 19 points, but the lead man in the performance was veteran playmaker [Nick Calathes](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nick-calathes/001932/), who had 11 points and 12 assists. The all-time leader in assists also had 2 steals, which saw him tie former teammate [Dimitris Diamantidis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/dimitris-diamantidis/jko/) atop the all-time steals charts. They both now have 434 steals.

And while Calathes has remained humbled about the feat that will come with his next steal, his teammate Hayes-Davis was not hiding his excitement about his teammate.

"He is amazing. I've said it a million times to a million people: \[he's\] the greatest point guard in European basketball history. I compared him to a European John Stockton. A leader in assists and an eventual leader in steals. He is fantastic, \[I\] love playing with him."

An exciting performance saw Fenerbahce improve to a 16-11 record, with the team well positioned to fight for a top-six finish and home-court advantage in the playoffs. There are just seven regular-season rounds to go, so it should be a thrilling end to the campaign for Fenerbahce supporters.

LDLC ASVEL won its first-ever EuroLeague game at LDLC Arena on Friday, March 1, by beating Olimpia Milano 81-77.

LDLC ASVEL finally tastes victory at LDLC Arena

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne had tasted defeat in three straight games before the break, but it got back on track in Round 27 by [beating EA7 Emporio Armani Milan 81-77](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/euroleague-live-blog-ldlc-asvel-vs-olimpia-milano/) and recording its first-ever win at the brand-new LDLC Arena.

Inspired by an outstanding [Joffrey Lauvergne](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/joffrey-lauvergne/004194/), who netted 12 first-half points having gone 6-for-6 from inside, ASVEL took a 39-35 lead into the second half. The third quarter was balanced, with the hosts narrowly outscoring Milan 23-21, but in the opening stages of the closing quarter ASVEL’s defense stepped up.

### A tense ending… before elation

The French side held Milan to just 3 points for the first six minutes of the final period and took a 76-59 lead with 4:39 left on the clock. When everything indicated that ASVEL would clinch a comfortable victory, the Italian team fought back and managed to cut the difference to three points with 14 seconds to go. 

However, [Maodo Lo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/maodo-lo/007032/) missed an open triple to send the game to overtime, allowing the fans to get off their seats and celebrate ASVEL’s first victory at LDLC Arena after six unsuccessful attempts.

“We won the game and everybody is super happy,” Lauvergne said after the game. “First win in this gym. It’s an amazing feeling. I’m proud of the fact that we keep fighting. We may be disappointing people sometimes, but overall we fight and we do everything possible to win games. Like tonight, we never gave up.”

Milan demonstrated their threat by beating reigning-champs Real Madrid through 27 points from Shavon Shields and 23 from Nikola Mirotic. They journey to a lowly ASVEL roster equipped with Paris Lee, who leads the league's steals chart with 1.8 per game and is tasked with disrupting the visitor's strategy.

ASVEL may have missed out on the playoffs, but its players demonstrated on Friday night that they will put up a fight against any opponent in this last stretch of the season. Having received a huge boost in confidence with its win over Milan, ASVEL will travel to Greece next week to face Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens on March 8.
