There were plenty of storylines surrounding the big showdown between Real Madrid and Olympiacos Piraeus. Shots stopped falling for Olympiacos – it made only one of its next 20 three-pointers – but the Reds still held a 64-69 lead at the end of the third quarter.

That’s when everything clicked for Real Madrid, fueled by an incredible home crowd. *Los Merengues* held their opponents scoreless for six minutes, with [Trey Lyles](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/trey-lyles/014117/) and [Andres Feliz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/andres-feliz/011247/) sparking a 10-0 run that put Real Madrid ahead for good, 74-69. Olympiacos got as close as 74-73, but then playmaker [Facu Campazzo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/facundo-campazzo/005928/) took control.

Campazzo hit a pair of free throws, found Hezonja for a mid-range jumper, and nailed a floater that pushed Real Madrid further ahead, 80-73. He then connected with [Walter Tavares](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/walter-tavares/005791/) for a one-handed slam and dished two more assists, allowing Hezonja and [Gabriel Deck](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/gabriel-deck/009005/) to extend the lead to double digits right at the buzzer.

Facu Campazzo had four points and four assists in the last four minutes to lead Real Madrid to an 89-77 victory over Olympiacos Piraeus. 

Campazzo makes the difference down the stretch

It all happened fast. Campazzo returned to the floor with 3:44 left and led a decisive 15-4 run with four points and four assists. He finished with 9 points and 8 assists, while Hezonja led the winners with 18 points and Deck added 13.

“I think the turning point was still in the first half. The second quarter was way better. I think some of our guys were not aware of the defensive potential of this team, of these players,” Coach Scariolo said after the game. “So they were there, but not there enough. You have to be with your hand up every time, force them to dribble, contest every shot. We’re a brand-new team. Everything is basically new.”

Real Madrid next hosts LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in Round 3 on Thursday, October 9.

“It’s always great to come here and perform for our fans,” Brown said in a courtside interview. “We bounced back from the last game and it was a good game tonight for everybody, not just for myself. Good to get one under our belt, we didn’t want to dwell too much on the last one as its’s going to be a long season.”

Carlik Jones echoed Brown’s views and praised Partizan’s diehard fans, who keep generating an electrifying atmosphere in the Belgrade Arena.

“I get the goosebumps every time I go down the tunnel as they keep shoring an amazing amount of passion,” he said. “It’s like having an extra player on the floor. We’ve got to do better with controlling the lead, it was ugly towards the end but we got the win and that’s all that matters to us right now.”

Olympiacos's first quarter in Madrid

By the time Fournier drained an off-balance triple from an almost impossible angle near the sideline, Olympiacos had hit 8 of its first 11 three-pointers and led 29–19 at the end of a near-flawless quarter.

Obst, who holds the EuroLeague record for most three-pointers made in a single game with 11, credited his readiness and confidence.

“I’m confident. Bad shots don't really exist for me. I enjoy taking them and my teammates trust me. It’s also a team thing – they play for me,” said the 29-year-old sharpshooter.

Last season, Obst shot 42% from three-point range and had several standout performances: [hitting a EuroLeague-record 11 triples for 34 points](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/andreas-obst-breaks-the-euroleague-single-game-record-for-three-pointers-made/) against FC Barcelona in Round 11, and making 8 threes against Zalgiris Kaunas in Round 24. Tavares gave Los Blancos a boost with a three-point play early in the second quarter. Saben Lee responded for the Reds, and Lyles narrowed the gap for Real to 24-31. Sergio Llull connected from beyond the arc, but Evan Fournier answered with a tough three-pointer and followed it up with a floater to restore Olympiacos’s lead at 27-36. Llull continued to lead Real’s offense, and Hezonja topped Kostas Antetokounmpo’s powerful dunk with a deep three that brought Real even closer at 35-38. Tyson Ward stepped up for Olympiacos with a put-back basket and scored again after Lee’s reverse layup, extending the lead to 35-44. Deck and Campazzo responded on offense, and Chuma Okeke’s put-back dunk forced the Reds to call a timeout at 44-45. Vezenkov came out strong with a jump hook and a fast-break layup in a 0-6 Olympiacos run. Okeke hit a triple, but Vezenkov closed the half by restoring a 47-53 Olympiacos lead.

Feliz opened the second half with a three-pointer and added an off-balanced basket to keep Real close at 52-55. Vezenkov continued to lead Olympiacos, but Fernando responded with an alley-oop layup, followed by Hezonja’s catch-and-shoot triple that tied the game at 57-57. Milutinov threw down a dunk, only for Hezonja to cancel it out with a turnaround jumper. Dorsey then restored a 59-61 lead for Olympiacos. Alberto Abalde hit from deep to give Real its biggest lead of the night at 62-61. Milutinov answered with a jumper, and Dorsey gave the visitors breathing room at 62-65. Fernando came up big with an alley-oop dunk, but Milutinov matched it with a four-meter jumper. Vezenkov capped the quarter with free throws, setting the score at 64-69 in favor of Olympiacos after 30 minutes.

Lyles stepped up for Real early in the fourth quarter and Deck's tip-in tied it at 69-69. Garuba took over with a backdoor layup, and got help from Feliz and Tavares to boost Real's lead to 74-69 with five minutes remaining. Olympiacos went scoreless for six minutes until Fournier banked in a floater. Walkup made free throws for a 74-73 Olympiacos deficit. Campazzo made foul shots and fed Hezonja for a jumper that ignited the crowd at 78-73. The Reds kept struggling to score while Campazzo's floater forced coach Georgios Bartzokas to call a timeout, 80-73, with 1:53 left. Tavares dunked to seal the outcome, as Olympiacos never recovered.

Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade eked out an 80-78 home victory over EA7 Emporio Armani Milan for its maiden victory in this season’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, having bounced back from the opening 89-76 reverse at debutant Dubai Basketball.

Partizan holds on to edge out battling Milan, 80-78

Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade eked out an 80-78 home victory over EA7 Emporio Armani Milan for its maiden victory in this season’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, having bounced back from the opening 89-76 reverse at debutant Dubai Basketball.

Partizan were made to sweat on the outcome in a packed Belgrade Arena after letting Milan back into the contest when the Italian side looked out for the count, as the Serbian outfit carved out a 53-33 lead early in the second half on the back of a 23-4 run.

Sterling Brown paced Partizan on a team-high 20 points, Carlik Jones added 15 while Jabari Parker and Isaac Bonga chipped in with 10 each for the hosts, who shot 11 of 21 from downtown and forced 16 turnovers from the visitors.

At the other end, Shavon Shields led Milan with a game-high 21 points while Armoni Brooks and Marko Guduric posted 12 apiece, the latter missing a tough three-pointer at the buzzer that would have turned the matchup on its head had it gone in.

Guduric also dished out 8 assists while Josh Nebo added 10 points and 6 boards for Milan, which missed an opportunity to complete an elusive double in the Serbian capital after dismantling Crvena Zvezda Meridian Bet Belgrade 82-92 in the opening round.

Following a balanced first quarter, Partizan took the game by the scruff of the neck in the second as Carlik Jones took over the baton from Brown and engineered a 15-2 run close to halftime, which allowed the home team to carry a 45-33 lead into the locker room at the interval.

Brown, who netted 10 of Partizan’s opening 12 points, drained another five early in the second half and Jabari Parker followed up with a long triple as the hosts ran riot, roared on by their fervent fans.

Having fallen behind by 20 points, Milan came storming back with a flurry of three-pointers and fast breaks which slashed the deficit to 69-62 at the end of the third quarter as Shields led the comeback. Partizan still looked in control after forging a 78-67 advantage in the home but then once again ran out of ideas on offense, allowing Milan to close the gap to 80-78 in the final minute.

The visiting team had 11 seconds on its last possession to complete what would have amounted to an amazing comeback but Guduric shot an air ball with a defender in his face and the home faithful were able to breathe a huge sigh of relief on the final buzzer.   

Coach Zeljko Obradovic was pleased with the outcome after Partizan showed grim determination to defend its home court.

“I am very proud of how the team played just 48 hours after an incredibly difficult trip (from Dubai),” Obradovic told the postgame press conference. “We only allowed them four offensive rebounds and forced a flurry of turnovers, while we were also able to contain our former player Zach LeDay and their other big men.

“We have to improve on offense as the movement of the ball has to be much better, but we were aggressive on defense this time after faltering in Dubai.”

Bayern grabs first win thanks to 9 Andi Obst three-pointers 

FC Bayern Munich secured its first victory of the season with a hard-fought 97–88 Round 2 win over Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade at SAP Garden. The game remained tight for the first 25 minutes before Bayern seized control with a decisive 23-6 run spanning the final two quarters. 

Andi Obst led the charge by scoring 31 points on 9 three-pointers. Oscar da Silva added 12 points and Isiaha Mike chipped in 11 to help the German champions even their record at 1–1.

Zvezda dropped to 0–2 despite a standout performance from Jordan Nwora, who tallied 27 points. Codi Miller-McIntyre added 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in the loss.

Zvezda came out strong, with Nwora converting two early three-point plays to grab a 6–0 lead. After Bayern went scoreless for over two minutes, Vladimir Lucic knocked down a triple, only for Nwora to respond with one of his own to make it 9–3. Chima Moneke added seven points to stretch the lead to 18–9. Bayern’s offense finally came alive as Obst drained two threes and Niels Giffey added another, sparking a surge that put the hosts ahead 20–19. Zvezda answered right back with three triples – two from Miller-McIntyre – to take a 28–24 lead after one quarter.

Zvezda’s hot shooting continued in the second, with Nikola Kalinic and Miller-McIntyre pushing the margin to 34–26. Obst and Kamar Baldwin hit from deep to keep Bayern in touch, narrowing the gap to 41–38. However, the visitors kept scoring and led 51–43 before Bayern closed the half strong, trailing just 55–50 at the break.

Nwora opened the third quarter with his third three-point play to restore a nine-point cushion at 59–50. But Bayern responded quickly: Obst hit two more threes and Mike added one to cut it to 64–63. Zvezda still led 66–63 when Bayern launched a 14–2 run, highlighted by back-to-back threes from Mike and Obst, to go up 77–68. The lead stood at 77–71 heading into the final period.

Bayern’s momentum carried into the fourth as they held Zvezda to just one free throw in the first four minutes, stretching the lead to 86–72 with key contributions from Stefan Jovic and Justinian Jessup. A four-minute scoring drought allowed Zvezda to close the gap to 86–78, but Obst put the game away with three more triples in under two minutes, sealing the win at 95–83 with just over two minutes remaining.

The German guard scored 31 points as Bayern splits the first double-rounder

The 35-year-old center is in his seventh EuroLeague season and arrives in Belgrade following the injuries to Joel Bolomboy, summer addition Jasiel Rivero, and Uros Plavsic.

EuroLeague fans, we have our first winner in this season's [EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge](https://euroleaguefantasy.euroleaguebasketball.net/)! Eran Azoulay beat everyone else in Round 1 with his team AzoulayLocos, which had a Fantasy Challenge score of 232.25.

Eran had the following lineup: team captain Kendrick Nunn of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, his teammate Omar Yurtseven, Dan Oturu of Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv, Xavier Rathan-Mayes of FC Bayern Munich and Sasha Vezenkov of Olympiacos Piraeus as his starters. Tyler Dorsey of Olympiacos was his sixth man. Eran's bench players were Edwin Jackson of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, Sergio De Larrea of Valencia Basket, Ercan Osmani of Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Alexandros Samodurov of Panathinaikos. Sarunas Jasikevicius of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul was the head coach. 

The prize for finishing first in Round 1 is a VIP EuroLeague TV Subscription for the 2026-27 Season, and an automatic entry to a lottery to win 2x Tickets to the 2027 Final Four.
