As we near the midway point in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, there continue to be players who stand out as pivotal players in the EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge. Whether they are playing more because they are in great form, due to injuries or even coaching changes, wise fantasy players seek out those players when they are on the rise. Here are five such players to consider ahead of Round 17.

[Malte Delow, ALBA Berlin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/malte-delow/008211/) (5.7 credits) – The 22-year-old guard is playing his sixth EuroLeague season and has appeared in every game for ALBA this season. And never has he had a run like this. Entering Round 14, Delow had posted PIRs in double figures four times in 97 games. Since then he has had three in a row! More impressive is that Delow is doing so without scoring much; he has averaged 4.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.0 steal for a PIR of 11.7 in that stretch.

[Alpha Diallo, AS Monaco](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/alpha-diallo/011226/) (11.6 credits) – Monaco’s Swiss Army Knife has upped his game recently by averaging 11.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 block for a PIR of 17.5 over his last four games. His fantasy price has skyrocketed 1.1 in that time. Diallo earns his minutes as a do-it-all player and a defensive ace. More and more he has been drawing fouls and scoring baskets, which make him a very interesting fantasy prospect.

[Eli Ndiaye, Real Madrid](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/eli-ndiaye/009213/) (4.8 credits) – The teenager has cracked the starting rotation and is playing more and more. He has played at least 20 minutes in each of his last two games. Ndiaye scored a career-high 10 points in Round 15 against Crvena Zvezda and followed that with a personal best PIR of 13 in Round 16 against Partizan. Before that, he had a career-high 7 rebounds in Round 14 against Bayern. As he continues to put it all together, Ndiaye could be a shrewd, cheap weapon in the Fantasy Challenge.

[Josh Nebo, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/josh-nebo/011199/) (13.0 credits) – Nebo is playing his best basketball right now. Period. His last two games have been his best two in terms of scoring and PIR of the season. He had 17 points and a PIR of 25 against Baskonia in Round 15 and 18 points and PIR of 26 against Crvena Zvezda in Round 16. He also had a season-high 11 boards against Baskonia. Nebo is drawing fouls, getting to the line and making his free throws. He is the hottest center in the league right now.

[Scottie Wilbekin, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/scottie-wilbekin/006661/) (11.9 credits) – Since Coach Jasikevicius arrived in Istanbul, Wilbekin’s game has taken a step forward. In those three games, Wilbekin has averaged 16.7 points on 11-of-24 three-point-shooting (45.8%) plus 4.7 assists for a PIR of 19.3. That is after averaging 12.6 points on 38.8% shooting from deep and 2.7 assists for a PIR of 11.5 in the first 13 games this season. It may be time to climb aboard the Wilbekin train.

The season's first Istanbul derby will see Efes (7-9) attempt to become the first team to defeat [Sarunas Jasikevicius](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/teams/fenerbahce-beko-istanbul/ulk/jasikevicius-saras/?season=E2023) during his Fenerbahce (9-7) tenure. Efes is looking to bounce back from a home loss to Baskonia despite 23 points from star guard [Shane Larkin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/shane-larkin/007200/), who has now poured in at least 20 points in five of his last seven appearances. His long-range scoring threat will be met by [Scottie Wilbekin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/scottie-wilbekin/006661/), who has hit top form with 5 three-pointers drained in each of the two games. Fener’s trio of victories under Jasikevicius have come via improved offensive output directed by [Nick Calathes](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nick-calathes/001932/), who dished 13 assists to help overcome ALBA last week, so Efes needs to improve its defensive average of 86.9 points allowed, which is third-most in the league.

Real, in contrast, is riding a five-game winning streak and the last four of those haven’t even been close, triumphing by an average of 14.4 points. Following a thrilling overtime win over Efes, playoff-chasing Baskonia look to keep their offense rolling, whereas bottom-placed Milan are in free-fall having succumbed to five straight EuroLeague losses.

On the rise Bayern (7-9) will attempt to threaten Valencia's (9-7) place in the top 10 as they meet in Munich. Bayern saw a four-game home winning run ended by last week’s loss, 80-91, to Monaco, so will be determined to improve its defense as a launchpad for another successful streak. That’s especially the case as Valencia boasts the league’s best defense (73.8 points per game allowed), most recently holding dangerous Virtus to just 71 points. Valencia will focus a lot of attention on [Carsen Edwards](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/carsen-edwards/011987/), who has scored at least 10 points in six straight, and the Spanish team will also hope [Kassius Robertson](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kassius-robertson/012740/) maintains his recent improvement after knocking down multiple triples in the last two games.

In honor of the 'season of giving', let's have a look at the players in the EuroLeague who create the most points through their passing. 

Stats review: Salute to those players who create the most offense

The season of giving is upon us and perhaps no individual performance this season has fit that theme quite like the Round 16 MVP effort from Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade point guard Milos Teodosic. By scoring 27 points and dishing out 14 assists in only 28:45 minutes of action, the 36-year-old point guard had a career night, creating 62 of his team’s 98 points to lead them to their first road win of the season. 

Synergy’s points-created metric combines the points a player scores or assists with advanced game-tracking data to credit a player for the openings they create for teammates that are more than one pass away.  The latter gives a more accurate measure of the contributions made by the EuroLeague’s top playmakers; even when they do not tally an assist, their passes after weathering traps or when they’ve collapsed the defense before the payoff comes more than one pass away have an obvious impact on the scoreboard.

Stripping out the scoring piece and adjusting the resulting passing-centric data for playing time leaves us with a pretty clear picture of the impact the EuroLeague's best passers truly make with their ability to set the table for others.

No team in the EuroLeague runs more pick-and-roll than Real Madrid and that contributes heavily to the hold they have on the spots atop this list.  While Facundo Campazzo has taken on the lion’s share of the ball-handling duties this season, Sergio Rodriguez has been nearly as effective moving the ball in limited action.  With two of the league’s top passers, multiple lob threats, and the season’s second-best spot-up three-point shooting unit, Real’s offense has tremendous synergy and that's a big reason why they rank second in overall efficiency this season.

Without the same level of shot-making and finishing around him, Milos Teodosic has still managed to be almost as impactful with his passing this season.  Zvezda has performed on par with the EuroLeague's third-most efficient offense with Teodosic on the floor despite ranking 17th in field goal percentage.   It is sometimes cliché to say that a player makes his teammates better, but the veteran floor general simplifies the game for the players around him in a way that’s hard to look past on paper.

Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz reserve Chris Chiozza has played a protracted role this season playing more some nights than others, but his ability to make reads in pick-and-rolls remains his calling card.  FC Barcelona standout Nicolas Laprovittola has been similarly impactful as a passer while simultaneously ranking among the EuroLeague's most efficient pick-and-roll scorers.  He’s put pressure on opposing defenses in the two-man game as consistently as anyone this season.

Kostas Sloukas of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv teammates Tamir Blatt and Lorenzo Brown also warrant mention among this season’s most prolific table-setters.  While some players make the simple play consistently or show good vision finding the open man on the move, the EuroLeague's best move the needle for their teammates every time they step on the court.

Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade announced that it has signed [Jaleen Smith](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jaleen-smith/011192/) from Virtus Segafredo Bologna for the remainder of the season. Smith (1.90 meters, 29 years old) averaged 5.3 points on 48.3% three-point shooting in 13 EuroLeague games this season. He spent the previous two seasons playing in the EuroLeague with ALBA Berlin. He averaged 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and a 10.7 PIR across 31 games in the 2022-23 campaign.

Jaleen Smith joined Virtus Segafredo Bologna from ALBA Berlin.

Smith started his career with USC Heidelberg and also played for Riesen Ludwigsburg in Germany before joining ALBA in 2021. Smith was chosen as the 2020-21 German League MVP after averaging 15.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.7 steals and a PIR of 19.1. In his first season with ALBA, Smith helped the team to win the German League and Cup double. He has also been a member of the Croatian national team.

He arrives from Rio Breogan Lugo, where Anderson averaged 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and a PIR of 9.6 in 7 Spanish League games this season. 

Anderson started his professional basketball career with Dallas of the NBA, and also played for Texas, Raptors 905, Long Island and Fort Wayne of the G League, as well as for Philadelphia, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Cleveland and Indiana of the NBA. In 243 NBA career games, Anderson averaged 5.3 points and 2.6 rebounds, getting a career-high 26 points with Phildelphia against New York on April 12, 2017.

Guards Codi Miller-McIntyre and Markus Howard played key roles for Saski Baskonia in its road win over Efes Basketbol on Friday night. 

Baskonia's star guards led the way in Istanbul

Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz snapped a two-game losing streak with its 80-87 road win at Anadolu Efes Istanbul in Round 16 behind stellar play from its backcourt. Codi Miller-McIntyre was close to making Turkish Airlines EuroLeague history; he was just 1 rebound away from recording the competition's fourth-ever triple-double.

Nikola Vujcic had two triple-doubles in his stint with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2000s and Nick Calathes was the last player to record 11 points, 12 rebounds and 18 assists for Panathinaikos Athens in an 87-67 win over Buducnost VOLI Podgorica on April 4, 2019.

Codi Miller-Mcintyre had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists in his team's 80-87 road win against Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

Miller-Mcintyre barely misses triple-double in Istanbul

Miller-McIntyre scored Baskonia's first basket, a three-pointer, his only basket in the first quarter to go with a rebound and 2 assists. He dominated after that and played a critical role in the fourth quarter. With his team down 68-66 with 7 minutes left, Miller-McIntyre hit a pair of free throws that ignited a game-defining 0-10 run in which he had a couple of assists. Moments after grabbing his ninth rebound at the buzzer, Miller-McIntyre found out he needed only 1 more to make history.

"It feels good that we won!" he said when he found out. "Most importantly, it feels good that we were able to get this win. And I guess I have to keep trying to rebound more... I think we just stayed focused. We didn't get upset or down when we were down 4-5 points, and everybody stayed locked in, and we were able to pull out the win."

Markus Howard of Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz scored 28 points in his team's 80-87 road win against Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

Howard played a key role in a 0-6 run with a highly-contested three-pointer and 3 free throws. He buried his first two shots late in the fourth quarter, right after coming off the bench, and kept his rhythm all game long, not just striking from beyond the arc, but also attacking the rim with great aggressiveness and energy.

Howard finished the game with 28 points on 5-of-6 two-point shooting, 5-of-8 on three-pointers and 3-of-4 from the foul line for a PIR of 22. He also managed to stay out of foul trouble in crunch time, which was critical to the outcome of the game. He committed his fourth foul with 1:11 left in the third quarter and still managed to score 10 points in the last 6 minutes despite fouling out with 50 seconds remaining.

"I think that the most important thing is that we got the win. Whatever my teammates need me to do, whenever my name is called, I am doing it to the best of my abilities. I have to do a better job of maintaining my fouls to be able to stay on the court, but the guys that finished the game did extremely well, they executed, so I am very proud of the effort all the way around," Howard said.

"You have to play hard in each and every possession but there is going to be sometimes possessions in which you have to be smart with how you are playing with your hands, with your body. So I am just trying to feel the game out, understand how the refs are calling calls. That is something that I am going to continue to take more practice."

Asked about Howard beating foul trouble, Baskonia head coach Dusko Ivanovic was pleased with the way he managed that situation.

"\[Howard\] is a smart guy. He knew he can't make the \[fifth\] foul. He made his fifth foul with 50 seconds in the game but also, he played good defense with 4 fouls," he said.

Howard averaged 14.2 points last season and has boosted his scoring average to 18.6 points per night to be a top contender for the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy. As for Miller-McIntyre, is now averaging 8.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 16 games. Howard and Miller-McIntyre have helped Baskonia to win eight of its last 11 games.

Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens returns from a tricky road trip with two wins, with veteran point guard – and the team's main summer signing – Kostas Sloukas delivering on both nights. First, in [a dramatic 90-91 win at AS Monaco](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/news/live-blog-as-monaco-vs-panathinaikos-aktor-athens/), a game the Greens won on a buzzer-beating triple by Marius Grigonis, it was Sloukas who led all Panathinaikos scorers with 17 points, while also collecting 4 assists and 3 rebounds. In his 31:26 minutes on the floor, Panathinaikos was +16. Two days later, Panathinaikos pulled out [a 68-76 win at EA7 Emporio Armani Milan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/news/euroleague-live-blog-olimpia-milano-vs-panathinaikos-bc/). In this contest, Sloukas played 32:06 minutes and scored 9 points while attempting just 4 field goals, but he orchestrated the offense to the tune of 6 assists and also grabbed 5 rebounds.

### Okobo bounced back

Elie Okobo's 15-point performance in Round 15 had a nightmare ending. After he scored what appeared to be a game-winning basket with 2.5 seconds to go, giving Monaco a 90-88 lead, he purposely missed the ensuing free throw but without the ball touching the rim. It stopped the clock, which Panathinaikos used to call a timeout and [eventually win the game at the buzzer](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/news/live-blog-as-monaco-vs-panathinaikos-aktor-athens/). His [reaction became an instant meme](https://twitter.com/EuroLeague/status/1737566762260930814), but Okobo did not let that mishap get him down. Rather, he bounced back just 48 hours later with arguably his best game of the season as Okobo scored a season-high 19 points and dished 5 assists in [Monaco's 80-91 win at FC Bayern Munich](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/news/euroleague-live-blog-fc-bayern-basketball-vs-as-monaco-basket/). He was 5-of-9 from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line, helping Monaco improve to 9-7 on the season.

### Poirier remained solid

Vincent Poirier led Real Madrid to consecutive victories against both Belgrade-based teams in the double-round week. On Tuesday, Poirier inspired Real to a 58-72 road victory over Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, getting 14 points on 6-of-7 two-pointers and 3-of-3 free throws for a PIR of 15 in over 18 minutes on the floor. He had 12 points in the opening 7 minutes of the second quarter to help Real build a double-digit lead, 33-43. On Thursday, Poirier had similar numbers in a 91-75 home victory over Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade: 14 points on 6-of-7 two-pointers and 2-of-2 free throws, adding 1 steal and 1 block for a PIR of 18 in as many minutes. Poirier was a vital piece for Real's dangerous second unit all week long.

### Bolomboy led Zvezda's frontcourt

Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade beat Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv 92-98 in Round 16. Milos Teodosic got all the headlines with a PIR of 40, but Joel Bolomboy was just as important in this victory, finishing the game with 20 points on 6-of-7 two-pointers and 2-of-3 three-pointers. He had 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal, too, for a PIR of 24. Despite registering a 59-72 road loss against Real Madrid earlier in the week, Bolomboy had another outstanding performance, getting a PIR of 12 despite taking just 3 field-goal attempts. He had 10 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 fouls drawn. Even if Zvezda did not have a great scoring night, Bolomboy found many ways to contribute.

### Robertson stepped up

Valencia Basket recorded a good-as-gold 79-71 home victory against Virtus Segafredo Bologna on Thursday night. Kassius Robertson provided the fireworks from downtown, burying 3 of his 6 three-point shots. He ended up getting 12 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 2 steals for a PIR of 11. Robertson also had 12 points off the bench in 19 minutes a couple of days prior, even if he couldn’t help Valencia beat Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, 67-72. Before this week, Robertson had hit just 8-of-40 three-point shots (20.0% 3FG). This week, he buried 5-of-10 attempts from downtown (50.0% 3FG). Being the only pure shooter on Valencia’s roster, this week could be a turning point in Robertson's season.

Kassius Robertson had 12 points against both Virtus Segafredo Bologna and Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade.
