“Great character win for our guys,” said Saras Jasikevicius after [Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/fenerbahce-beko-istanbul/ulk/) rallied for a 93-108 road win over [Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/teams/baskonia-vitoria-gasteiz/bas/) on Friday night. “I hope we continue having character, which is probably the most important thing in life, not just in basketball.”

With its home crowd in full voice, Baskonia dictated the tempo early and led for much of the opening period. A strong stretch from [Talen Horton-Tucker](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/talen-horton-tucker/014124/), however, kept Fenerbahce within striking distance, and the teams went into halftime tied at 53-53.

Fenerbahce suffered a setback early in the second half when Horton-Tucker was ejected. He was later joined on the bench by [Mikael Jantunen](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mikael-jantunen/012613/) and [Khem Birch](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/khem-birch/007182/), both of whom fouled out. Baskonia capitalized and briefly opened a double-digit lead.

The visitors responded quickly, closing the third quarter on a 13-0 run to take a narrow advantage into the final period. Carrying that momentum forward, Fenerbahce pulled away in the fourth behind timely shooting and closed out a comfortable victory.

As Jasikevicius noted, fight and spirit played a major role in Fenerbahce claiming the win. Despite multiple players being lost to fouls and ejections, the visitors seized control when it mattered most. Veteran forward [Nicolo Melli](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nicolo-melli/002849/) echoed his coach’s assessment of the team’s character.

“We were down 10 when Talen got kicked out, and he’s a big player for us,” Melli said. “We stuck together and found a way back into the game. We’re usually known for our defense, but today we won with our offense, and that shows our character.”

The result moves Fenerbahce’s record to 12-6 and strengthens its postseason hopes, while Baskonia slips to 6-13. Head coach Paolo Galbiati acknowledged the quality of the opposition.

“I told you before that Baldwin and Horton-Tucker were in great shape, and they played amazing,” Galbiati said at halftime.

Horton-Tucker’s night was cut short, but [Wade Baldwin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/wade-baldwin-iv/009863/) once again delivered. The American guard starred for the road team, finishing with 24 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds for a PIR of 29.

It was not Baldwin’s first visit to Buesa Arena. The 29-year-old spent one season with Baskonia and had returned three times previously with other teams. Friday’s victory marked a personal milestone.

“This was my first time ever winning in this building outside of playing here,” Baldwin said. “Every time you come here, it’s a dogfight. These guys make every shot it seems, so it’s good to start the new year with a win.”

Baldwin had plenty of help. Melli knocked down four three-pointers on his way to 17 points, while [Tarik Biberovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/tarik-biberovic/006961/) and [Bonzie Colson](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/bonzie-colson/009783/) each added 16. Horton-Tucker finished with 12 points despite his abbreviated outing. On the other side, [Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/timothe-luwawu-cabarrot/012080/) scored 20 in a losing effort for Baskonia.

Galvanized by the mental and physical toughness it showed in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Fenerbahce will look to extend its winning streak to four when it returns home to face Olympiacos Piraeus on Tuesday. Galbiati’s team will try to halt its three-game slide when it hosts FC Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

It was its sixth defeat in eight away games, with Zvezda’s previous road win dating back to Round 8 at Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.

Sasa Obradovic’s team badly needed a response in Turkiye, especially given its history against [Anadolu Efes Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/teams/anadolu-efes-istanbul/ist/). Zvezda had never won in Istanbul, and Efes entered the game riding a nine-game winning streak in the head-to-head series.

That streak, however, came to an emphatic end with a 65-87 road win – thanks in large part to a player who made the move from Istanbul to Belgrade last summer.

[Jordan Nwora](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jordan-nwora/013363/), who joined Efes in 2014, endured an up-and-down 2024–25 campaign before departing for Zvezda. Now 27, the forward has rediscovered his form in Serbia.

He entered Friday’s matchup averaging a team-high 17.0 points per game, having scored in double figures in all but one of his 13 appearances this season. With plenty to prove against his former club, Nwora checked in midway through the first quarter with Efes up 6-3 after holding Zvezda to a single field goal.

Nwora immediately shifted the momentum. A three-point play was followed by his first triple of the night, igniting an 11-0 Zvezda run that flipped the game. The visitors took control and never relinquished it. Nwora scored nine points in the first quarter and added five more before halftime.

He finished with a game-high 24 points in just over 26 minutes, shooting 9-of-12 from the field and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. He also contributed 5 rebounds and 2 steals.

“\[Playing against my former team gave me\] a lot of motivation,” Nwora told EuroLeague TV. “Last year had a lot of ups and downs. I’m just happy I was able to come back here and really show how I can play. I didn’t get that chance as much last year.”

Zvezda piled up 28 assists, but as both Nwora and [Chima Moneke](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/chima-moneke/012201/) emphasized, the win was built on defense. The visitors held Efes to just 15 points in the first half, creating a commanding cushion early. Zvezda also recorded 8 steals and forced 19 turnovers.

“Defense tonight is what I’ve been talking about,” Moneke said. “When I said we’re going to the Final Four, this is the team I expected to see. It’s easy to jump off the bandwagon when a team is struggling or going through a learning phase like we did in December. But it takes courage to keep believing. That’s our mentality. We know we’ll figure it out, and tonight was a big step.”

Zvezda opened 2026 in style, snapping the curse with this road win at Efes.

With tough matchups against Valencia Basket and Zalgiris Kaunas looming in the upcoming double-round week, the timing could hardly have been better. As Obradovic put it afterward, when Zvezda plays defense, “we are trouble for anybody.”

Having ended its nine-game losing streak away at Efes, Zvezda improved its record to 11-8. Meanwhile, the hosts suffered their third straight home defeat, dropping to 6-13. Jordan Nwora ended the game against his former team on 24 points and Chima Moneke scored 16, with Semi Ojeleye and Ebuka Izundu netting 11 each. Nick Weiler-Babb paced Efes with 17 points and Cole Swider bagged 13 in a losing effort.

Sasha Vezenkov led the winners with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Tyler Dorsey added 21 points while Nikola Milutinov barely missed a double-double with 10 points and 9 boards. Kendrick Nunn led Panathinaikos with 32 points on 8-of-8 two-pointers and 7-of-7 free throws, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Cedi Osman added 13 points while Nikos Rogkavopoulos had 10 for the Greens, who got within 82-84 with a minute to go. Apart from Morgan and Alston, Saliou Niang stood out for Virtus with 11 points and 8 boards while Karim Jallow added 12 points as the duo underlined a sound performance in the paint. At the other end, Josh Nebo amassed 15 points and 5 boards while Zach LeDay chipped in with 14. Devin Booker racked up 12 points and 6 boards, with Marko Guduric and Shavon Shields adding 11 apiece.

Real had six double-digit scorers, led by Mario Hezonja's 20 points, while Trey Lyles and Facundo Campazzo had 17 apiece. Dwayne Bacon starred for Dubai with 26 points, while McKinley Wright scored 14 and Aleksa Avramovic had 13 points, 7 assists and 3 steals in defeat.

Zalgiris ruined Hapoel’s return party by beating the Israeli side 80-93 in their first ever EuroLeague game at Menora Mivtachim Arena on Tuesday night. Boosted by a hyped home crowd, Hapoel hit the ground running and secured a 25-18 lead after 10 minutes. Yet, Zalgiris held the hosts to 15 and 13 points in the second and third quarter respectively, taking a 53-63 cushion into the fourth thanks to a 2-13 run. Hapoel made a last push for a comeback, but Zalgiris outscored the league leader 27-30 to grab a stunning victory. The Lithuanian side got back to winning ways and improved their record to 11-8, while Hapoel dropped to 13-6.

Nigel Williams-Goss paced Zalgiris with 17 points and Moses Wright netted 15, with Sylvain Francisco bagging 13 points and 8 assists and Azuolas Tubelis pairing his 12 points with 8 rebounds. As for Hapoel, Chris Jones led all scorers with 18 points and Elijah Bryant ended the game on 14 points.

Nadir Hifi led Paris with 26 points. Sebastian Herrera added 11 while Derek Willis had 10 for the guests, who led 72-74 with over 4 minutes left. With the game on the line, De Colo struck three times from beyond the arc and found Watson for another three-pointer that sealed the outcome, 88-81, in the final minute.

Valencia never looked back after Darius Thompson hit a deep three at the end of the third quarter to give the hosts a 65-63 lead and Nathan Reuvers scored 7 points in the home stretch amid a 17-5 run to force Partizan into submission. Valencia won the seventh of its last eight to go 13-6 while Partizan lost its fourth in a row after a physical battle, with the visiting team dropping to 6-13 after leading for much of the first half before running out of steam in the fourth quarter.

Crucially, Valencia dominated the offensive boards 14-7 as the hosts prevailed on second-chance points, with Thompson leading the charge on 17 points while Reuvers and Brancou Badio added 14 apiece. A battle of direct rivals saw Monaco overpower Barcelona with a great team effort, 74-90. The visiting team's defense dominated the first quarter for a 13-22 lead, which Nikola Mirotic extended to 17 points with three straight scores early in the second. A 2-13 run featuring five different scorers kept Monaco moving, and it was 30-47 at the half. The third quarter saw Barca coach Xavi Pascual ejected for two technical fouls as Barca tried to battle back, but Monaco kept its poise and never allowed the lead to sink back to single digits.

Monaco’s chief inspiration in an outstanding collective display was Kevarrius Hayes with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots, while Mike James top scored with 19 points, Mirotic added 13 and Elie Okobo scored 12. Barca’s Dario Brizuela led all scorers with 25 points, with Miles Norris netting 4 triples in his 14 points. The teams are now tied with a 12-7 record, just one win behind first place.

[Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/panathinaikos-aktor-athens/pan/) announced on Thursday that it has loaned out big man [Ioannis Kouzeloglou](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/ioannis-kouzeloglou/profile/004451/) to Maroussi Athens for the remainder of the season. Kouzeloglou (2.04 meters, 30 years old) first joined the Greens on a two-year deal over the summer. He made his EuroLeague debut this season and appeared in three games in the competition. Kouzeloglou had a bigger role in the Greek League, where he contributed 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds.

With the game on the line, Nando De Colo made sure that LDLC ASVEL registered its sixth win of the EuroLeague season by downing Paris Basketball. It was also ASVEL's fifth home win in the last six games. 

Nando De Colo turns back the clock... again

There was a lot of anticipation before the game between LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and Paris Basketball. Last season, [ASVEL downed Paris 98-93](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/asvel-ends-paris-unbeaten-run-in-all-french-rivalry-series-thriller-98-93/) at home to stop the guests' historic 10-game winning streak. Both teams have changed a lot from one year to another but ASVEL did it again, outgunning Paris 94-89 at LDLC Arena on Tuesday night.

With the game on the line, [Nando De Colo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nando-de-colo/002100/) made sure that ASVEL registered its sixth win of the EuroLeague season. It was also ASVEL's fifth home win in the last six games. 

[Bodian Massa](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/bodian-massa/012618/) tied it with a put-back layup, 74-74, and right after that, it was time for De Colo to make the difference in the game. He grabbed an offensive rebound, got the ball back from [Thomas Heurtel](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/thomas-heurtel/klt/) and nailed a catch-and-shoot three-pointer from way downtown. [Nadir Hif](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nadir-hifi/012640/)i managed to tie the game again, 77-77, before De Colo buried another big one from downtown, shooting over center Momo Faye to put ASVEL in charge for good.

A red-hot De Colo was far from being done. He followed [Shaquille Harrison](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/shaquille-harrison/013371/)'s reverse layup with a third three-pointer, wide open from the left wing. Already in the final minute, De Colo was triple-teamed and found [Glynn Watson](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/glynn-watson/014013/) for another triple, good for an 88-81 ASVEL lead with 36.4 seconds left. Paris never gave up but was never within striking distance, as Watson and Heurtel kept the hosts safe from the foul line.

De Colo needed just 21 minutes to finish the game with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 fouls drawn and a PIR of 24. Watson had a career-high 28 points.

De Colo leads ASVEL past Paris

ASVEL outrebounded Paris 50-38. Those 50 rebounds tie the club's record in the competition; it previously pulled down 50 boards in a [70-68 home win over CSKA ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/game-center/2021-22/ldlc-asvel-villeurbanne-cska-moscow/E2021/53/#box-score)Moscow on October 27, 2021. ASVEL had 23 offensive rebounds, a new club record and the third-best mark in the EuroLeague this season. Zalgiris Kaunas had 25 offensive rebounds in a 95-78 road loss against Olympiacos Pireaus in Round 10, and Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade pulled down 24 in a 92-99 road victory over Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv.

"It's a great win. We are in a good rhythm right now, especially in the EuroLeague, so it's great. We know nothing is easy for us during the season, but we keep fighting and tonight, I think we see the team Pierric \[Poupet, ASVEL coach\] wants to see on the court. It wasn't perfect, but at the end we got the win because we did it together," De Colo said after the game. 

"I think we did everything together when it was tough. They were up five, eight, 10, but we kept our rhythm. We kept our focus. This was the main word on the board. And I think this makes the difference."

At age 38, De Colo is averaging 13.6 points with great shooting percentages (63.4% 2FG, 40.0% 3FG, 98.3% FT), 4.7 assists and a PIR of 17.8 in less than 21 minutes per night. In other words, he is proving that age is just a number. 

As for ASVEL, it plays five of its next six games at home, which statistically is great news: Coach Poupet's team is on a 16-game road losing streak that dates back to last season. It hosts Real Madrid in Round 20 on January 6, 2026.

[AS Monaco](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/teams/as-monaco/mco/) cruised to a statement win at rival [FC Barcelona](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/teams/fc-barcelona/bar/) on Tuesday night, dominating practically the entire game to underline its title credentials with a 74-90 triumph.

Barcelona’s only lead came with the first basket of the night, which was immediately followed by a 0-7 run as Monaco went ahead for good. The margin remained in double digits from the start of the second quarter for the rest of the game, and Barca’s frustration at its inability to narrow the gap spilled over when coach Xaxi Pascual was ejected after consecutive technical fouls early in the third quarter.

It was a rematch of last season’s very closely contested playoff series, which was eventually won by Monaco in the final possession of Game 5, but there was nothing close about this mismatch as Vassilis Spanoulis’s men were superior all over the floor.

The team’s top statistical performer was Hayes with a season-high PIR of 24, just 2 short of his personal best, and he offered an eloquent assessment of the triumph when he spoke to EuroLeague TV after the action, pointing to his team’s tally of 19 assists as an indicator of its strength.

“We stayed together. Even when they were making a run coming back, we did a good job of keeping our composure, being focused, making plays and playing as a team,” he said.

“I feel like we’re finding our rhythm, we’re figuring things out, getting used to one another and it’s really showing in the way we share the ball. We’re really trusting each other, knowing what we can do.”

Hayes also found room for some humour as he mysteriously concluded: “As long as we can keep up this energy and this effort, we definitely can define it as \[some unintelligible noises doubtless intended as an in-joke for the benefit of the locker room\].”

Victorious coach Vassilis Spanoulis was in a more serious frame of mind – just like his players throughout the game – as he paid tribute to the performance. “We played amazing defense, we stuck to our game plan for 40 minutes,” he enthused. “The guys were very concentrated. They executed great, so congratulations.”

We have now reached the exact midway point of the regular season, with the ultra-competitive nature of the EuroLeague clearly illustrated by the fact that five different teams are currently placed within one win of first place – Barca and Monaco among them as they share a 12-7 record.

Monaco is one of the competition’s hottest teams after grabbing three consecutive victories, but Spanoulis is taking nothing for granted as he reflected on the opening 19 rounds.

“A lot of up and downs from a lot of teams, a huge season that we’ve never faced before with so many games,” he reasoned. “We try to learn from this and we have to be consistent in the second round.”

Tuesday’s performance made one thing clear: when Monaco plays to its potential over the full 40 minutes, the Roca Team takes some stopping.
