Vaso Partsalidou beat everyone else in Round 27 as his team Diva had a whopping Fantasy Challenge score of 220.15.

Vaso used the following lineup: Darius Thompson (team captain) of Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, Facu Campazzo of Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, Luke Sikma of ALBA Berlin, Johnathan Motley of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and Alen Smailagic of Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, all as starters. Dante Exum also of Partizan was his sixth man.

The bench featured Vanja Marinkovic of Baskonia, Josep Puerto of Valencia Basket, Jake Cohen of Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and Gabriel Deck of Real Madrid. His coach was Sasa Obradovic of AS Monaco.

EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge: Round 27 winner!

AS Monaco improved to 17-10 and rose up to fourth in the standings following an 84-70 triumph over Panathinaikos Athens in Round 27. Taking much better care of the ball and powering the offensive glass saw Monaco gain the advantage in this game.

Monaco outrebounded Panathinaikos 30-26 and finished the game with as many as 14 offensive boards. Chima Moneke and Alpha Diallo were their team's biggest contributors with 4 offensive rebounds apiece. Panathinaios had 17 defensive rebounds, which means Monaco pulled down 45.2% of all rebounds under the Greens' rim. Panathinaikos had 9 offensive boards and Monaco grabbed 16 defensive boards, so the Greens got just 36% of all possible offensive rebounds.

The hosts limited its turnovers to just 10, in addition to recording 8 steals and dishing 12 assists. Panathinaikos had more assists, 13, but only collected 3 steals and finished the game with as many as 18 turnovers. Monaco improved its three-point defense during the game. Panathinaikos sank 9 of its opening 15 shots from beyond the arc (60% 3FG) but went 2-of-8 from downtown (25%) in the final 15 minutes.

Rebounds, steals helped Monaco defeat Panathinaikos

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv had to wait until the final minute to celebrate a 78-74 home victory against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in Round 27. Its accuracy from both the three-point line and the foul line ultimately made the difference.

Maccabi's defense limited Fenerbahce to a very low three-point shooting percentage, as the visitors buried just 7-of-34 shots from downtown, its worst percentage (20.6% 3FG) this season. Prior to Wednesday night, Fenerbahce's worst shooting night from deep had come in a 98-94 home win against AS Monaco, as it made 7-of-30 shots from downtown (23.3% 3FG). On the other hand, Maccabi sank 8-of-24 three-pointers (33.3% 3FG).

Things were not much better from the free-throw line for Fenerbahce, with Dimitris Itoudis's side hitting just half of its 18 free throws (50%), its second-lowest mark this season. Back in Round 17, it hit 47.4% of its free-throw attempts in an 86-66 road loss against Zalgiris Kaunas. It was a different story for Maccabi, however, as the hosts buried 20 of its 25 shots from the charity stripe (80%). Wade Baldwin made 5-of-5 free throws, with 2 of those coming with 15.7 seconds left to put Maccabi's victory on ice.

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv survived a tough test in Round 27, edging Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul 78-74 at Menora Mivtachim Arena. Two of its bench players allowed Maccabi to overcome a bad start: Roman Sorkin and John DiBartolomeo.

Fenerbahce found an early go-to guy in Dyshawn Pierre, who had 10 points as the visitors grabbed an early 3-15 lead. Sorkin came off the bench and immediately delivered with a big basket off a spin move, allowing Maccabi to balance its offense and start trading baskets with its opponent. Still, Fenerbahce had a 17-25 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Maccabi opted to play Jake Cohen and Sorkin together on the court, giving playing time to backup point guard DiBartolomeo, too.

John Dibartolomeo, Roman Sorkin each had 10 points off the bench to lead Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv to a 78-74 home win against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.

DiBartolomeo gave Maccabi the spark it needed in an 8-0 run, finding Jarell Martin for a three-pointer, getting a steal under the basket to feed Sorkin for a slam, and striking from downtown to tie the game, 31-31. His teammates followed his leadership as Maccabi took a 43-39 advantage into the halftime break.

The Maccabi team captain ended up leading his team in PIR, 21, after recording 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 7 fouls drawn. Sorkin, meanwhile, hit 5-of-6 two-pointers, finishing the game with 10 points, 5 rebounds and a PIR of 16. "I tried to play with energy and tried to be aggressive when I can, and I tried to help the team in any way I can," DiBartolomeo said after the game. "Tonight, the ball came to me a little more, and I am happy I was able to help."

Over the course of his five-season, 51-game career in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Bugrahan Tuncer had only started one game for Anadolu Efes before Wednesday’s trip to face Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade. This season had been particularly quiet for the 29-year-old, who hadn’t played at all since Round 6 and was still waiting to score his first points of the season.

But with Vasilije Micic ruled out long-term and Shane Larkin also missing the game in Belgrade, Tuncer was called upon by Ergin Ataman to start the game and – although his team ended with a heavy 94-75 defeat – he did enough to suggest that he could be a significant player for Efes in the coming weeks.

Tuncer performed very well in the first half, scoring 5 early points and then adding a triple just before the break to take his halftime tally to 8 points. He also orchestrated the offense well, dishing 5 assists in the opening two quarters. He was unable to make the same impact in the second half as Zvezda flexed its defensive muscles and Efes tired, but Tuncer’s final totals 6 assists was a joint personal best, and his 32 minutes played was the most of his career.

With Micic out for several games now and Larkin’s status uncertain, he might need to repeat that effort as the race for the playoffs intensifies.

Former Real Madrid star Campazzo was signed by the Serbian powerhouse in December, but the club could not register him to appear in the competition until March. His debut came in last week’s road loss at FC Bayern Munich, before he finally stepped out in front of his home fans for the must-win game against Efes.

Campazzo certainly announced his arrival in style: after starting the game on the bench, he came into the action with 4:34 to play in the opening quarter and used his first two possessions to deliver a pair of assists to Ognjen Dobric.

He then really took off at the start of the second period, draining consecutive triples in the space of 40 seconds. Another threeball and two more assists followed, before Campazzo finished his outstanding first half with a two-pointer and then by drawing a three-point shooting foul, accompanied by a technical foul on the Efes bench, which saw him convert all 4 free throws to give his team a halftime lead.

That saw Campazzo finish a near flawless half with 15 points without a miss (1 two-pointer, 3 threes and 4 free throws) along with 4 assists, and there was more to come during the decisive phase of the game in the fourth quarter. With Efes leading 68-70, Campazzo found Stefan Markovic for a three-pointer and then took matters into his own hands, going coast to coast for a driving layup and one and adding two more determined inside baskets.

He kept on leading the offense until the very last play, when he fed Luka Mitrovic for his seventh and final assist as the host cruised to a 94-75 victory. Campazzo’s personal tally, along with those 7 assists, was 22 points on 7-of-8 field goal shooting, along with 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 6 fouls drawn for a PIR of 30 – not far short of his personal bests in scoring (23) and PIR (34).

Next up for Zvezda is a road trip to Panathinaikos on Friday, and if Campazzo can maintain this form, there’s no telling where the season might end.

"Good, and the best, is always to win. We won, that is what counts the most, even though sometimes you dislike the way you win, but it's a win. So no matter in these conditions and understanding the opponent, who didn't have anything to lose, they could play even more loose. And for us, it was a must-win \[game\], like you could see. It is not really the way I want, but okay, hopefully the next one is going to be different, but still with a win!

"We had to win. First, it is not easy to play against them, because they don't have any pressure. Especially with some small-ball lineups, it is not easy to handle everyone all the time, even tactically. Okay, we won all four quarters, which is good. On the other hand, we had a good rotation in the team, with all the guys playing. A win like this sometimes looks good, sometimes looks so-so. I wanted to have even more aggressiveness on defense to give us a bigger opportunity to finish the game earlier. Sometimes, we gave them a chance to run, which is what they wanted. The moments in which we were playing great defense, then everything was much easier. I want the team to reach 20 wins as soon as possible, which would mean maybe a ticket to the playoffs. As soon as possible, we want to get to 20 and then we will see what the other results will give us; maybe something more. It is not going to be easy, our next opponent \[Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz\] is extremely tough, especially at home. Even their playing style doesn't fit us too much, so we have to be really smart and not play the way we did tonight. It has to be much different."

"I think that we didn't control the game the way we wanted. We played better in the third quarter, started very well, but we didn't play for 20 minutes the way that we planned.

"We knew from the beginning that we had to play a very tough game against a very good team. We wanted to control our defensive rebounds and avoid easy mistakes. Unfortunately, we had problems with that. We lost 14 defensive rebounds and had 18 turnovers. We had one good third quarter. We tried a lot and also had an opportunity to go in front, but at the end, in the fourth quarter, we didn't play with discipline defensively and we lost the game. Also, I believe that the three players that didn't play today – \[Arturas\] Gudaitis, \[Dimitrios\] Agravanis and \[Nate\] Wolters – are three experienced players. It was difficult to play without them."

AS Monaco grabbed its third consecutive victory and rose to fourth in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings following an 84-70 victory against Panathinaikos Athens at Salle Gaston Medecin on Wednesday night. Monaco improved its record to 17-10 with the win, while Panathinaikos dropped to 8-19 and is now on a nine-game road losing streak. The Greens' last EuroLeague road victory came in early December.

Jordan Loyd and Alpha Diallo led the winners with 18 points apiece, each burying 4 three-point shots. Elie Okobo and Mike James had 12 and 11 points, respectively. Mateusz Ponitka shined for Panathinaikos with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Dwayne Bacon scored 10 against his former team. Monaco pulled down 14 offensive rebounds and limited its turnovers to just 10.

Panathinaikos found an early go-to guy in Ponitka, who had 7 quick points to give the Greens an 8-9 lead. Diallo followed back-to-back three-pointers with a putback layup, and Okobo also struck from downtown for a 21-17 Monaco lead after 10 minutes. 

Loyd sank a couple of three-pointers, Donta Hall added a wild alley-oop slam and Okobo soon made it a double-digit game, 35-25. Matt Thomas rescued Panathinaikos, getting help from Paris Lee to bring the guests within 42-36 at halftime.

Ponitka took over with a fastbreak slam and Bacon downed a couple of three-pointers, helping Panathinaikos to tie it at 46-46 right after the break. Loyd answered from downtown and John Brown added a putback layup, but Ponitka tied it again, 51-51. James led a 6-0 Monaco run and soon added a wild turnaround jumper, before getting help from Loyd to restore a 64-57 Monaco lead after 30 minutes. 

Hall dunked again, Diallo struck from beyond the arc and James scored a jumper to break the game open, 73-59, as Panathinaikos did not recover in the final five minutes.
