We continued to play the second half the same way we played in the first. We played good basketball. I don't think we relaxed in the fourth quarter; we had some open looks that did not go in. I think we played good defense even in the fourth quarter. They hit some shots with our hands in the face. I am very happy with our defensive aggressiveness, and offensively we reacted smart, with ball movement. I would love if we would continue like that. \[ASVEL\] had 3 steals and 17 turnovers; that's -14. We had 11 steals and 7 turnovers. That's a huge difference. That's what we will insist to keep on doing. Of course, it will not always be possible, but our game against Zvezda was similar. Another statistical data, they had 8 offensive rebounds in the first half and just 3 in the second. It sets a defensive tone, does not allow them second and third chances.  Partizan dominates ASVEL, 92-71 

Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade took control early and never let down in dominating visiting LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne 92-71 on Tuesday at Stark Arena. Partizan improved to 11-11, holding an even record for the first time since Round 8. Meanwhile, ASVEL dropped to 8-14 on the season in a game where the hosts used an 11-2 first-quarter run to open a double-digit lead and take the lead for good. The margin was as highas 29 points before Partizan slowed down.

Kevin Punter scored 17 of his 22 points in the first half to pace his team in a victory. Dante Exum added 13, Mathias Lessort 12, and James Nunnally 10 points for Partizan. Youssoupha Fall collected 14 points and 6 rebounds, Yves Pons also scored 14 and Dee Bost had 11 points in ASVEL's loss.

Partizan had 2 three-pointers, both by Punter, and a pair of three-point plays in the first 6 minutes of the game. A three-pointer from Ioannis Papapetrou helped open a 23-13 advantage. Retin Obasohan had a three-point play late in the first quarter and Antoine Diot hit a triple early in the second, but the visitors never came closer than 27-21. Fall was doing the damage inside for ASVEL. Exum restored a double-digit margin before Nunnally nailed back-to-back threes to make it 43-37. Punter extended the difference to 17 points before three-pointers from Nando De Colo and Bost before halftime gave the visitors hope, 50-36, at the break.

Fall scored the first bucket of the second half, but Uros Trifunovic and Aleksa Avramovic fueled a 7-0 Partizan run. Avramovic and Punter sparked, and then Zach LeDay and Lessort combined for 11 points, in a 16-2 run that broke the game wide open, 75-46. Pons scored 5 points at the end of the third, and ASVEL scored the first 6 points of the fourth, but it did not take long for the hosts to get back into their rhythm. The teams traded baskets as the game was going to its close, with Partizan mostly resting its main players already thinking about the next game.

Olympiacos thrashes Fenerbahce in Istanbul, 73-93

Olympiacos Piraeus remained atop the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season standings by downing Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul 73-93 at Ulker Sport and Event Hall in Round 22 on Tuesday. Olympiacos improved to 15-7 in the standings and has 2-0 regular season record against Fenerbahce, which dropped to 13-9. Olympiacos led 10-24 after 10 minutes, boosted its margin to 16-46 at halftime and kept a safe margin until the final buzzer. 

Kostas Papanikolaou paced the winners with 21 points, missing just 1 free throw attempt. Isaiah Canaan added 20 while Thomas Walkup, Shaquielle McKissic and Sasha Vezenkov each had 12 and Giannoulis Larentzakis 11 for Olympiacos. Vezenkov added 11 rebounds for a double-double. Marko Guduric led Fenerbahce with 24 points. Melih Mahmutoglu added 14 while Devin Booker and Kostas Antetokounmpo each had 10 for the hosts.

Papanikolaou and Canaan each struck from downtown in an 0-8 run that Vezenkov capped with a layup to open the game. Booker and Antetokounmpo stepped up for Fenerbahce but Olympiacos kept making it rain from beyond the arc. Canaan, Vezenkov and Papanikolaou helped the Reds boost their margin to 10-24 after 10 minutes. McKissic dunked and Joel Bolomboy's alley-oop layup made it an 18-point game, 13-31. Papanikolaou and an unstoppable Larentzakis allowed Olympiacos to break the game open, 16-46. Antetokoumpo and Guduric brought Fenerbahce closer, 31-50, at halftime.

Guduric opened the third quarter with a three-point play but he didn't find much help. Meanwhile, Canaan struck twice from downtown, getting help from Vezenkov and Papanikolaou to restore a 41-68 Olympiacos margin. Nothing changed after that, as an unstoppable Canaan led Olympiacos to a 51-77 margin after 30 minutes. Fenerbahce used a 12-0 run which Mahmutoglu capped with back-to-back triples to force the Reds to call timeout, 66-79, with under 6 minutes left. But it was too little, too late, and the Reds took the win back to Piraeus.

 Kostas Papanikolaou, Olympiacos: 'We were in the zone'

"First of all, I really appreciate this win in this environment; it is always difficult. How we entered the game in the first quarter was a statement, how we wanted to play in this game: being patient, finding open looks, shooting with confidence, grabbing rebounds and playing hard defense as we always do. So the first quarter was really crucial to the game, then we knew how we had to continue playing the whole game. We just lost our minds in the fourth quarter for 2 minutes, but then Fenerbahce took the game to 13 points, not less. Then the three-point shot from the corner of Walkup, I think, it finished the game. There is no game that can be similar to any other game. Different teams, different approaches. Now we play in our home court \[against Efes\], a sellout in front of our fans. We need to continue thinking the same way, the same attitude, going game by game, controlling our emotions, not getting crazy if we win, and not getting crazy if we lose."

"Obviosuly, we made a very good performance winning here. It is always difficult. The way we entered the game in the first quarter, playing hard defense, controlling the rebounds and moving the ball a lot, finding the open man, being patient and of course, scoring the open threes, it was a statement in the first quarter. And then we had more faith about the way that we have to play until the end of the game. Fenerbahce was honored with the pressure that the fans put on the court and responded in the fourth quarter, if I remember well, but our lead was never less than 13 points, and then Walkup hit a three-pointer from the corner, and I think that ended the game. We had a lot of open looks but our ball movement, for me, was the crucial part of the game. We found our shooters wide open and had a very good percentage for threes today. But generally, how we played against the very aggressive defense that they played was crucial for the game. Now, the most important game is Friday's game against Efes." 

### Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul head coach Dimitris Itoudis:

"First of all, congratulations to Olympiacos. They played better, they were the better team and they deserved to win, especially when a team on the road scores 17 three-pointers with 60%, that's an amazing thing. We were trying to really defend but they were better. Obviously, we have a lot of miles to reach that level, but the players tried, we tried hard. We wanted to be competitive but they were hitting shots and we were not hitting shots, especially in the beginning. We have to congratulate them. We have to gather our pieces to be more competitive in the game on Friday. Congratulations to Olympiacos once again.

"Olympiacos had answers to each and every situation, whatever defense, let's say, strategically we tried to do, they had answers. They are a great team and deserved to win. When they hit 60% three-pointers in a road game, it says a lot. Obviously, they were building this in the last three years, so congratulations to them, they deserved to win. We wanted to compete today and were competing. Obviously, we were not making shots in the beginning and this 10-24 start hurt us for the duration of the game. We made our efforts, came back to cut the deficit to 13, coming closer, but it couldn't happen today, so congratulations to them. And thank you to the fans. They helped the team tremendously, this is important. We know that they are disappointed, as we are, but we are not giving up."

### Olympiacos Piraeus guard Isaiah Canaan:

"It was a team effort tonight. My teammates did a great job of finding me when I had open looks, and glad to see a go-through tonight. I am just trying to do whatever the team needs to help us win. Like I said, it was a team victory tonight. Fenerbahce fans are very passionate about their team. They are always going to show up. Whatever game that I have been a part of, that I played here, it has always been a great atmosphere. I love playing here, I love playing in this gym and I showed it tonight. We just have to continue to do the things that we have been doing all season long, and every game that we have a chance to win, we need to win. We did a good job with that tonight."

### Olympiacos Piraeus forward Kostas Papanikolaou:

"I think we had an excellent performance. From the first minute of the game we were in the zone, focused, ready to play the game 100%, being aggressive, because we know it is a tough court to play at, and it is a great team to play against. So we knew that if we wanted to have good chances, we had to be strong, physical and fighting throughout the whole game, and that's what we did. And even in the small parts that we didn't do it, you saw Fener had great comebacks, small comebacks, and the game could be different. But we bounced back, got back into our concentration and got a very, very important win for us in a very, very tough place to play. Credit to the coaching staff, of course. they do the job and put the pieces in the puzzle. We just follow the instructions and the rules, and everything we have to do on the court. But I believe this team, this season, enjoys winning games, and they don't care who is going to score the ball. Today it is going to be me or Isaiah (Canaan), next game could be Sasha (Vezenkov), or Sloukas, who we missed today. He is a very good creator for us, he gives a lot to the team. We have to be more like a team, more connected, and we did it. And I think we did good."

Kostas Papanikolaou, Olympiacos: 'We were in the zone'

Valencia Basket hosts FC Bayern Munich [in Round 22 action on Tuesday at La Fonteta](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/game-center/2022-23/valencia-basket-fc-bayern-munich/E2022/194/) in a clash between two fast-rising clubs. Valencia is on a four-game winning streak and Bayern has won four of its last five Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games, which adds even more anticipation to this interesting showdown. 

Both teams have made history in recent days. Valencia has won four consecutive EuroLeague games for just the second time in club history and for the first time since late 2003. Bayern forward [Augustine Rubit](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/augustine-rubit/006477/) was chosen as the EuroLeague MVP for January. Rubit became the first Bayern player to win an MVP of the Month honor in the club's eight EuroLeague seasons.

These teams will face each other for the eighth time. Valencia has a 5-2 record against Bayern since they crossed paths for the first time in 2015. But it was Bayern that prevailed in their first showdown this season, downing Valencia [97-92](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/game-center/2022-23/fc-bayern-munich-valencia-basket/E2022/121/) in Round 14 behind 18 points from [Corey Walden](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/corey-walden/009866/). [Isaac Bonga](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/isaac-bonga/006760/) added 14 and all 11 Bayern players who stepped on court scored at least 4 points. [Bojan Dubljevic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/bojan-dubljevic/002742/) led Valencia with 28 points. 

In only a fifth European meeting, Bayern aim to recover from a loss to Real Madrid and offer a better showing against Spanish opposition when they welcome a Valencia group with bolstered ambitions for the postseason following an overtime victory over Panathinaikos.

FC Bayern Munich vs Valencia Basket - Round 14 - Highlights

Both teams had serious injury problems at the time and different lineups will be used this time. Three Valencia players who were with the team in Round 12 – Dubljevic, [Jasiel Rivero](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/jasiel-rivero/011214/) and [Victor Claver](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/victor-claver/000556/) – are unavailable for this game. Valencia has signed Shannon Evans and playmaker [Chris Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/chris-jones/010568/) is back in action. Rubit missed these teams' previous matchup, too, [Elias Harris](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/elias-harris/005460/) and [Andreas Obst](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/andreas-obst/004508/) are currently unbelievable, and Bayern has signed [DJ Seeley](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/dennis-seeley/004862/) to strengthen its backcourt. 

Bayern's star forward [Vladimir Lucic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/vladimir-lucic/001288/) remains sidelined. Lucic is one of just three players who have worn both teams' jerseys in the EuroLeague. Lucic helped Valencia win the 7DAYS EuroCup in 2014 and played the 2014-15 EuroLeague campaign with that team. In his fifth season with Bayern, Lucic is a two-time All-EuroLeague selection. Dusko Savanovic and [Derrick Williams](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/derrick-williams/009006/) have also played for both teams in the EuroLeague. Savanovic remains the only Valencia player to be an All-EuroLeague selection; he was named to the second team in the 2010-11 campaign. 

Coach Svetislav Pesic also manned the sidelines for both teams in the EuroLeague; he led Valencia to the 2011 EuroLeague Playoffs and coached Bayern for four seasons. Pesic helped Bayern win the German League in 2014, the club's first since 1955. 

Valencia knocked off Bayern in the 2015 EuroCup Eighthfinals in the first meetings ever between these teams. In the opener, Valencia rolled 80-58 at home and then cruised to a 60-94 victory in Munich for an aggregate score of 174-118. Valencia also beat Bayern twice in the 2019-20 EuroLeague Regular Season. Bayern's first win over Valencia came in the 2020-21 campaign, 90-76. Lucic led Bayern with 22 points and a career-high PIR of 35. 

Fun fact: Bayern head coach Andrea Trinchieri is 2-0 against Alex Mumbru, who is now coaching Valencia, in his EuroLeague career. Mumbru played for Bilbao Basket in 2011-12 and faces Trinchieri's team, Cantu, in the regular season. Cantu prevailed twice: 78-69 at home and 64-67 on a crazy, nine-meter, game-winning shot by Gianluca Basile. 

Bayern has never won at La Fonteta in three previous visits, losing by an average margin of 18.3 points. This could be a good chance for Bayern to bounce back from those losses, but what's guaranteed is a fantastic basketball atmosphere and a good game between two of the best teams in the EuroLeague in early 2023.

The newest signing for the Greens is big man [Dimitris Agravanis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/dimitris-agravanis/004429/), who has signed a deal until June of 2025.

Agravanis (2.08 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Peristeri of Greece, where he averaged 10.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game since he joined the team last November. He had started the season in Italy with Napoli. Agravanis is a player with extensive European experience. He played a total six Turkish Airlines EuroLeague seasons with Panathinaikos archrival, Olympiacos Piraeus, from 2013 to 2019 for 79 games, 269 points and 188 rebounds. He also played four seasons in the 7DAYS EuroCup, one with Panionios Athens (2012-13) and three with Promitheas Patras from 2019 to 2022 for a total 40 games, 389 points and 189 rebounds.

[Rokas Giedraitis, Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/rokas-giedraitis/006436/) (11.5 credits) – Giedraitis had a monster performance in Round 21, grabbing a career-high 18 rebounds. His previous personal-best was 9 boards. He also had 7 points and 6 assists for a PIR of 26. If Giedraitis keeps rebounding well, his PIR should be really solid from now on. 

[Paris Lee, Panathinaikos Athens](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/paris-lee/011225/) (8.8 credits) – Lee helped Panathinaikos rally past Zalgiris last week with a second half to remember, finishing the game with 24 points on 5-of-6 three-pointers and a PIR of 27. His playing time perfectly fits against Real's run-and-gun style, so he should keep his personal momentum going.

EuroLeague Fantasy tips: Round 22

[Tomas Satoransky, FC Barcelona](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/tomas-satoransky/002939/) (12.5 credits) –  Slowly but steadily, Satoransky is bringing out his best, all-around game. In the last five rounds, Satoransky averaged 12.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists, hitting 11 of 15 three-pointers (73.3%). Moreover, Barca plays back-to-back home games, which is always a plus. 

[Nigel Hayes-Davis, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nigel-hayes-davis/008962/) (10.1 credits) – Hayes-Davis has been Fenerbahce's x-factor this season due to his size, versatility and basketball IQ. He has excelled in the last four games, averaging 14.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and a PIR of 18.8 while hitting 20 of 27 two-point shots (74.1%). Outstanding!  

[Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/timothe-luwawu-cabarrot/012080/) (8.8 credits) –  Luwawu-Cabarrot needed some time to find his rhythm in his first EuroLeague season and is getting the hang of it now. In the last two games, Luwawu-Cabarrot averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and a PIR of 18.0. He is seeing more and more playing time, too.
