Hapoel Tel Aviv beefed up its frontline ahead of its EuroLeague debut campaign by signing athletic center Dan Oturu. The big man has spent the past two seasons with Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

[Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/hapoel-ibi-tel-aviv/roster/hta/) beefed up its frontline ahead of its EuroLeague debut campaign by signing athletic center [Dan Oturu](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/dan-oturu/profile/012788/) for the next three years. The big man has spent the past two seasons with Anadolu Efes Istanbul. He is the club’s second signing from Efes after penning [Elijah Bryant to a three-year deal](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/hapoel-tel-aviv-brings-elijah-bryant-aboard/).

Oturu (2.08 meters, 25 years old) averaged 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 block over 38 games in a reserve roll for Efes last season. He was fourth in the league in two-point shooting accuracy at 71.6%. On a per-minute basis, Oturu was one of the league’s most effective players, ranking fourth in blocks (2.5 blocks per 40 minutes), seventh in offensive rebounds (4.8 per 40 minutes) and 11th in PIR (26.8 per 40 minutes).

After playing college basketball at the University of Minnesota, Oturu began his professional career with the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA in the 2020-21 season. He briefly played for the Toronto Raptors the following year and also suited up for the Windy City Bulls in the G-League. He made his European debut with Turkish side Yukatel Merkezefendi in 2023 before moving to Efes.

Bryant (1.96 meters, 30 years old) brings a wealth of experience to a Hapoel side that will debut in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague this season. He spent the past four seasons with [Anadolu Efes Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/anadolu-efes-istanbul/ist/), which he helped win the EuroLeague in 2022.

Last season, Bryant averaged 13.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals in 38 games for Efes.

Best of Elijah Bryant: 2024-25

Bryant played college basketball first at Elon University and later at Brigham Young University before making his professional debut in Israel in 2018 with Hapoel Eilat. 

That led to his move to Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, where he spent most of two seasons. Late in the 2020-21 campaign, Bryant moved to the NBA to play for the Milwaukee Bucks, with which he won the NBA championship. In October 2021, Bryant returned to the EuroLeague when he joined Efes.

Valencia adds Yankuba Sima, extends Millan Jimenez

[Valencia Basket](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/valencia-basket/roster/pam/) bolstered its frontcourt by inking center [Yankuba Sima](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/yankuba-sima/005596/) to a three-year deal. 

Sima (2.11 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Unicaja Malaga, where he averaged 4.9 points and 2.8 rebounds in 33 Spanish League games last season, in which he helped his team win the Spanish Copa del Rey, Intercontinental Cup, BCL and Spanish SuperCup titles. 

Born in Girona, Spain, Sima started to play basketball in his native city, joining the Canarias Basketball Academy in 2013. He went on to play in the United States for Arlington County, St John's University and Oklahoma State University before starting his professional basketball career with BAXI Manresa. 

Sima also played for Umana Reyer Venice of Italy before joining Unicaja in January 2023. Sima also helped Unicaja win a BCL title in 2024 and has been a member of the Spanish national team. He won two European Championships medals with the Spanish U20 squad: silver in 2015 and gold in 2016.

Valencia also announced a new deal with shooting guard [Millan Jimenez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/millan-jimenez/009105/), who re-signed his contract until the end of the 2027-28 season. 

Jimenez (1.99 meters, 22 years old) joined Valencia in 2018 and made his EuroLeague debut with the team during the 2019-20 campaign. Last season, Jimenez was sent on loan to Monbus Obradoiro, averaging 8.4 points on 41.7% three-pointers and 3.1 rebounds in 34 Spanish second division games.

He has also played for San Pablo Burgos, as for the Spanish national team in all youth categories. He helped Spain win a gold medal at the 2002 U20 European Championships.

Willis (30 years old, 2.05 meters) arrives from Anadolu Efes Istanbul, where he has spent the last two seasons. In that time, he has averaged 5.2 points on 40.8% three-point shooting and 3.1 rebounds over 53 games in a reserve role.

Derek Willis | In The Post

Willis started his professional career with the Grand Rapids Gold of the G League, and he also played for Goettingen and ratiopharm Ulm in Germany, Brindisi and Umana Reyer Venice in Italy and Joventut Badalona in Spain. In college, Willis helped the University of Kentucky reach the NCAA Tournament Final Four in 2015. He has also been a member of the USA national team.

[Anadolu Efes Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/anadolu-efes-istanbul/roster/ist/) announced on Friday that it has agreed to a new deal with veteran guard [Rodrigue Beaubois](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/rodrigue-beaubois/006590/). The contract is for the 2025-26 season with an option for the following year.

Beaubois (1.88 meters, 37 years old) is – alongside Shane Larkin – Efes's longest-tenured player. They both debuted with Efes in 2018 and led the club to EuroLeague crowns in 2021 and 2022. Last season he averaged 8.9 points on 45.9% three-point shooting and 1.6 assists over 33 EuroLeague games. Beaubois comes into this season ranked 10th in EuroLeague history with 513 three-pointers made and 19th with 3,113 points scored.

Rodrigue Beaubois | Making a Pro

Beaubois came through the youth team at Cholet Basket and was drafted in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft. He spent four seasons with the Dallas Mavericks and won the NBA championship in 2011. Beaubois returned to Europe in 2014, first with Spirou Charleroi in Belgium and then with Le Mans and Strasbourg in France. He made his EuroLeague debut with Strasbourg in 2015 and then played in the competition for two more seasons with Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz before joining Efes.

His trophy case includes three Turkish League championships and one Turkish Cup with Efes, the 2008 French Cup with Cholet. Beaubois has also played for the French national team.

Ellis started his career in Barking Abbey Crusaders of his native England and has played in Italy since 2019, first for Orlandina Basket Capo d'Orlando and then for JB Casale Monferrato before joining Trento in 2023. He is also a member of the British national team.

Carter (1.93 meters, 27 years old) returns to the EuroLeague after previously playing four times for Zenit St. Petersburg in the 2021-22 campaign. However, the American guard played a total of just over 36 minutes across those four games.

Having made his professional debut with Lavrio in 2020-21, averaging 17.8 points per night in six Basketball Champions League appearances, Carter signed for Zenit but was unable to make his mark with the then-EuroLeague team. It has been with Unicaja, however, where Carter has really established himself.

In the BCL, he has improved his numbers each year with Unicaja, posting 9.3 points in 18 games in 2022-23, 10.7 points in 15 games in 2023-24, and 12.8 points in 16 games in 2024-25. Carter helped lead to Unicaja to back-to-back BCL titles, while he was named as the BCL Final Four MVP in 2024-25.

Domestically, Carter also guided Unicaja to two Spanish Cup triumphs in 2022-23 and 2024-25, as well as the Spanish Super Cup in 2024.

The Italian play-caller started his coaching career with Scavolini Pesaro, Aurora Desio and Fortitudo Bologna. Scariolo first left his native Italy to coach Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in 1997 before joining Real Madrid in 1999 and leading the team for three seasons. 

Scariolo has also coached Unicaja Malaga of Spain, Khimki Moscow Region of Russia, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan of Italy, as well as working for the NBA's Toronto Raptors as assistant coach. Scariolo has led the Spanish national team to unprecedented success.

Success came early in Scariolo's coaching career as he inspired Scavolini to the Italian League title in 1990 and reached the EuroLeague Final Four in 1991. He led Baskonia to the 1999 Spanish Cup and lifted the Spanish League trophy with Real Madrid in 2000. Scariolo went on to lead Unicaja to its first golden age, winning the Spanish Cup in 2005, the Spanish League in 2006 and reaching the EuroLeague Final Four in 2007. Scariolo helped Toronto win the NBA championship in 2019 and led Virtus to the BKT EuroCup crown in 2022.

Simply put, Scariolo is one of the best national team coaches of all-time, helping a generation of players led by Pau Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro, Marc Gasol, Ricky Rubio and Rudy Fernandez, among others, dominate FIBA competitions. He guided Spain to four EuroBasket gold medals in 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2022, won the FIBA World Cup in 2019 and also earned two Olympic medals: silver in 2012 and bronze in 2016. He helped Spain get a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2017.

The 56-year-old had an 81-39 record with Real Madrid in the EuroLeague and guided the team to its 11th EuroLeague championship in 2023.

Most recently, Mateo led *Los Blancos* to a second Spanish League title in a row (2023-24; 2024-25), while he also lifted the Spanish Cup (2023-24) and two Spanish Super Cups (2021-22; 2022-23) during his time in charge. He was the 2023-24 EuroLeague Coach of the Year.

Mateo took the reins from Pablo Laso on a full-time basis in the summer of 2022, having stepped in for Laso due to health problems in the latter part of the 2021-22 campaign. During his time as interim head coach, he helped the Spanish giant secure the 2021-22 Spanish League crown, which proved crucial in him getting the full-time job.

Real Madrid reached the EuroLeague Championship Game in each of Mateo’s first two seasons as head coach before falling in the playoffs last season.
