A squandered 13-point fourth-quarter lead, a career night from an opposing guard, and an 11-2 run by [Anadolu Efes Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/teams/anadolu-efes-istanbul/ist/) in the first overtime session that had Milan on its heels.

Milan also needed two defensive stands, o stay alive at the end of regulation, then again to extend the battle beyond the first extra period. Down three late in the first overtime, [Shavon Shields](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/shavon-shields/007831/) rose to the occasion, drilling a tough three-pointer with 11.7 seconds left to force a second extra session.

When all was said and done, Milan pulled out a 93-97 win, its third on the road this season, to improve to a 4-5 record.

"We lost four one-possession games \[this season\], so it was about time one went our way,” Shields said in a EuroLeague TV interview after the win. "Everybody contributed."

Milan, indeed, had many big contributors. [Zach LeDay](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/zach-leday/008987/), in his first game since Round 3, scored 25 points in 22 minutes on the floor but did not play in either overtime period due to an injury he sustained in the final minute of regulation.

[Quinn Ellis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/quinn-ellis/012593/) scored 14 points, including 4 in the second overtime, and 5 of [Marko Guduric](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/marko-guduric/004004/)’s 13 points came in extra sessions. Meanwhile, [Leandro Bolmaro](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/leandro-bolmaro/008985/) ran the offense, collecting 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

But it was Shields who had 24 points on a career-high 6-for-8 three-point shooting, along with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals, that lifted the visitors to victory. The secret?

“Just keep shooting, and they were going in. You gotta stay confident, and let it fly,” Shields said.

Let fly he did, and in the clutch no less.

Shields hit his fourth triple to open the first overtime, and made his fifth to tie the game at 84-84 with 11.7 seconds left in that extra session. Shields opened the second OT with his final three-pointer, giving Milan an 84-87 lead. From there, the visitors never trailed again.

Shield’s performance ended up overshadowing what [PJ Dozier](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/pj-dozier/012742/) did for Efes on Friday night. Dozier finished with a career-high 34 points, putting on display a perfect first-half shooting performance as he had 17 points, going 7 for 7 on twos and making his only three-point attempts, along with 2 assists and just 1 turnover.

He dropped 17 more points the rest of the way, but all came in the clutch.

Dozier nailed a mid-range jumper and a triple in the final 45 seconds of the regulation to tie the game at 74-74 and send it to overtime. Dozier’s two jumpers also gave Efes an 84-81 lead with 27 seconds to go in the second overtime, only for Shields to tie the game. Dozier scored 5 more points in the second OT, but it was not enough.

Dozier was 10 of 13 on two pointers and 4 of 6 behind the arc, but the rest of the team just 6 of 26 (16.7%) as Efes dropped its fourth straight game as the home team.

The hosts nailed a couple of three-pointers shots at the buzzer in the first and third quarters before [Maodo Lo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/maodo-lo/007032/) twisted the knife in as he sank a sweet spot-up effort with 44 seconds left on the clock, giving Zalgiris an unassailable 81-75 lead in the home straight.

“Both teams ran a lot and rebounded well, but in the end we wanted it more as the guys left every ounce of energy on the court,” Tubelis said in his post-game comments. “Francisco is so fast that no one can keep up with him and we are really fortunate to have him on the team.” 

Indeed, Francisco pulled the strings for long spells as he carried his good form into the fixture, with Zalgiris holding the upper hand for the best part of the first half, although Valencia kept breathing the home team’s neck. With the score tied 58-58 towards the end of the third quarter, Lo unleashed a buzzer-beating triple which put Zalgiris back in the driving seat and gave the hosts a psychological edge in the fourth.

They took full advantage to carve out a 67-60 advantage and never looked back, even if Valencia stayed in the hunt until the final minute of a rip-roaring contest played at a torrid pace. Head coach Tomas Masiulis hailed the team’s die-hard approach and rock-solid defense, which clipped Valencia’s wings when the chips were down.

“We stayed together throughout and held them to 77 points, so it’s a good result,” he said. ”Despite making some mistakes, I am happy with how we played on defense. We fought like a team and deserved to win, with Francisco being our pack leader. It’s not easy because all our opponents are focused on stopping him but he was patient tonight and decided the game in the end.”

Having seen his side drop to 5-4, Valencia head coach Pedro Martinez praised a cracking atmosphere in the Zalgirio Arena, with the home fans getting behind their team in unison. “Congratulations to Zalgiris, they are a superb team and their fans are truly fantastic,” he said. “We improved in the second half but we had some problems in controlling the defensive rebounds and that’s what made the difference in the end.”

The two-time All-EuroLeague center is yet to play so far this season. Lessort made a brief comeback during the 2025 EuroLeague Final Four after suffering a serious fibula injury last December, but he picked up a leg injury during the Greek League Finals that has kept him sidelined to this point.

In a statement posted by Panathinaikos on Friday, the club revealed that Lessort's return from injury has been 'delayed'.

"Mathias was in the final stage of his reintegration into full team practice. However, during the increase of training load, he experienced discomfort in his left ankle and immediately underwent new medical examinations. These results revealed the presence of bone edema, and the medical staff is proceeding with a reassessment of the management plan.  

"His return to competition will be delayed, as the protection of our athletes’ health is always a non-negotiable priority for our club.  

"We remind everyone that matters concerning the health of our players are strictly personal and cannot become the subject of rumors, speculation, or so-called “exclusive information.” We will not allow sensitive issues to become a product of misinformation.

In the first double-overtime game of the season, Milan edged out Efes 93-97 on Friday night. It is the third road win of the season for Milan, which improved to 4-5, while Efes lost its fourth straight game as a host to drop to a 3-6 record.

Milan led by 13 points early in the fourth quarter after a 0-16 run, but Efes rallied, and the hosts even had the final 2.7 seconds of regulation to win it. But, the game went into overtime, then Shavon Shields hit a tough three-pointer with 11.7 seconds left in the first extra session to force a second overtime. Shields opened the second extra period with his career-best sixth triple and Milan led the rest of the way.

Shields finished with 24 points on 6-for-8 three-point shooting, and Zach LeDay scored 25 points but did not play in overtime due to an injury. Quinn Ellis scored 14 points in a victory. For Efes, PJ Dozier netted a career-high 34 points, Nick Weiler-Babb scored 16 and Ercan Osmani collected 14 points and 7 rebounds in defeat.

Sound long-range shooting saw Zalgiris overpower Valencia 86-77 as the Lithuanian side improved to 7-2 with a fourth straight win, while the Spanish outfit dropped to 5-4 after a titanic tussle in Kaunas. Sylvain Francisco paced Zalgiris on 15 points and 7 assists, Maodo Lo chipped in with 12 points while Moses Wright, and Azoulas Tubelis netted 11 each for the home side. Jaime Pradilla and Jean Montero led Valencia with 15 points apiece, Kameron Taylor scored 14 and Omari Moore added 11 for the visitors.

In a fast-paced and physical start, both teams gave as good as they got in a hectic first quarter with Zalgiris nosing ahead 18-17 after the opening 10 minutes as Dustin Sleva netted a sweet three-pointer at the buzzer to send a passionate home crowd into raptures. Roared on by the green-clad faithful in the stands, Zalgiris moved up a gear and surged 35-26 ahead on the back of lethal long-range shooting. Valencia fought hard to stay in touch and slashed its deficit to 38-25 by halftime, thanks to a four-point play from Montero.

The third quarter produced more tough basketball, as both sides found it difficult to score in the wake of aggressive defending. The lead changed hands several times before Lo sank a buzzer-beating triple to give the hosts a 61-58 lead ahead of the final 10 minutes. Galvanizes by a Moses Wright block on Omari Moore, Zalgiris pulled away to 67-60 early in the fourth and although Valencia fought tooth-and-nail to catch up, Lo put the game beyond the Spanish team’s reach when he drained a clutch triple with 44 seconds left on the clock

Real set two scoring records against Barca in EuroLeague history, leading 21-34 after 10 minutes and 48-58 at halftime. No other team had scored that many points against Barca that early in any game. Real held off Barca's comeback and cruised to a well-deserved win.

Fenerbahce jumped ahead midway through the first quarter before a huge jam from Devon Hall added an extra spark for the reigning champions, who moved ahead by double digits in the second period. The visitors responded offensively to stay within touching distance, 45-34, at halftime. 

ASVEL shrunk the deficit in the third quarter, but the home team recovered, tightening its grip on the contest in the final period. Wade Baldwin played the starring role for Fenerbahce, recording 14 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Nicolo Melli paired 12 points with 9 rebounds and three more Fenerbahce players scored in double digits. Armel Traore paced ASVEL with 18 points. With the result, Fenerbahce’s record improved to 4-5, while Pierric Poupet’s team fell to 2-7.

Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv produced a magnificent third quarter in a 97-109 road win over Dubai Basketball to improve to 7-2 as Elijah Bryant racked up 25 points and 7 boards to lead the visitors in Sarajevo’s ZETRA Hall. Vasilije Micic sank 19 points while Johnathan and Antonio Blakeney added 15 each for Hapoel, which turned the game on its head after winning the third quarter 19-35. Dwayne Bacon shined for Dubai with 36 points.

Filip Petrusev and Bacon dominated early as Dubai turned a 2-8 deficit into an 18-16 lead midway through the first quarter. With the duo firing on all cylinders with 11 points apiece, Dubai surged ahead 26-18 but the visitors slashed the deficit to 26-25 after the opening 10 minutes. Dubai continued to thrive in a high-tempo affair and the hosts were 40-33 halfway through the second quarter. Hapoel was able to close in to 48-47 at halftime.

With Bacon slowing down early in the third quarter after scoring 17 first-half points, Hapoel turned the tide and carved out a 57-68 advantage on the back of sharp three-point shooting from Micic and Bryant. Dubai was reeling and Hapoel took full advantage, stretching the lead to 59-76. The outstanding Bacon caught fire again but Hapoel headed into the final 10 minutes 67-82 in front. Hard-fighting Dubai roared back in the fourth, reducing the arrears to 83-89 midway through but Hapoel stayed firm to fend off the fightback.

FC Bayern Munich grabbed its third straight victory by edging Paris Basketball 82-86 on Thursday night at Adidas Arena. The visitors got off to a strong start and took a 19-22 advantage into the second quarter, where they outscored Paris 23-31 to establish a double-digit lead (42-53) at halftime. 

The French side opened the third quarter with a 12-1 run and held Bayern to just 11 points, securing a 68-64 cushion after 30 minutes. Xavier Rathan-Mayes stepped up big time in the fourth quarter, netting 3 straight triples which were followed by a big three from Spencer Dinwiddie to seal the outcome. Bayern improved its record to 5-4, while Paris dropped to 4-5.

Rathan-Mayes netted a team-high 16 points, with Andreas Obst, Vladimir Lucic and Wenyen Gabriel scoring 12 each. Justin Robinson paced Paris with 22 points and Nadir Hifi bagged 21 in a losing effort.

In overtime, Elie Okobo came up big for Monaco too, scoring 7 points and dishing 2 assists. With this win Monaco improves to a 6-3 record, while Maccabi drops to 2-7.

James finished with 34 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, Daniel Theis came close to a double-double with 17 points and 9 boards, Okobo posted 16 points and 7 assists, Jaron Blossomgame poured in 15 points, and Alpha Diallo had 10 points. For Maccabi, Lonnie Walker scored a team-high 19 points, followed by TJ Leaf with 18 points, Jaylen Hoard with 16, Roman Sorkin with 15, and Jimmy Clark with 13.

Crvena Zvezda enjoyed a morale-boosting 86-68 win over Panathinaikos in Wednesday evening’s solitary fixture to stretch its winning streak to seven games, improving to 7-2 (6-0 under Coach Obradovic) while Panathinaikos dropped to 5-4 after a largely lop-sided contest. Codi Miller-McIntyre paced Zvezda on 14 points, 9 boards and 7 assists, Chima Moneke racked up 14 points and 8 boards while Ognjen Dobric posted 10 points for the home team, which snapped its seven-game losing streak against Panathinaikos. Kostas Sloukas led the visiting team on 16 points and Cedi Osman added 14, but top scorer Kendrick Nunn netted a mere 6 points. 

In a bruising and physical contest, Zvezda made a bright start and stifled out the visitors with ironclad defense in the first quarter, carving out a 20-12 advantage after the opening 10 minutes. Panathinaikos was reduced to shooting 0 of 10 from downtown and committed 4 turnovers in the first quarter, while Zvezda made 9 of 12 from inside. Roared on by a fervent hone crowd, Zvezda caught fire in the second quarter as shots poured in from all angles. The home team romped away into a stunning 42-20 lead before the Greens finally got going, slashing their deficit to 46-32 at halftime after a dreadful first half in which they shot 5 of 20 from long range and committed 8 turnovers. 

The third quarter saw Zvezda hit top gear again as the home team held Panathinaikos to a grand total of just 1 point in the opening 6 minutes, while the home team hit nothing but net at the other end to carve out a massive 67-40 advantage ahead of the final 10 minutes. With a mountain to climb, the Greens launched a fierce onslaught and produced a 7-21 run, closing the gap to 74-61 midway through the fourth quarter. However, the visitors had left themselves too much work to do and Zvezda ran out a worthy winner to delight its faithful inside a jam-packed Belgrade Arena.

That can’t be done perfectly right away — no matter how smart of a player he (Jared Butler) is, he still needs time to connect with the team. You can’t fix that in one practice, especially when your mind is already on the next opponent. The good thing is that we have a group that’s helping him with information and making him feel welcome. We’ve analyzed the loss in Subotica a bit, but those last five minutes — that can happen sometimes, and I have no complaints. There’s nothing in particular that needs to be discussed. We have a game against Panathinaikos coming up, and that one is very important. Nwora is day-to-day, he hasn’t practiced with the team. It’s always an open question — when a player isn’t training, the chances of him playing are small. The others took some hard knocks, but they’ve recovered now and are ready for the game."

If [Mike James](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mike-james/005985/) was going to make history, he was going to do it his way.

Heading into Round 9, the [AS Monaco](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/as-monaco/mco/) star needed just eight index rating points to surpass Nando De Colo and claim first place on the all-time PIR list. He ended up delivering a statement performance, posting a 37 PIR – the joint third highest of his 332-game EuroLeague career – and leading Monaco to a thrilling 112–107 overtime victory over [Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/maccabi-rapyd-tel-aviv/tel/). Although Monaco came away with the victory, it spent most of the game playing catchup. After James put the visitors 16-18 ahead with 3:15 to go in the first quarter, his team wouldn’t lead again for almost another 30 minutes – not until [Matthew Strazel](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/matthew-strazel/008099/) gave Monaco a slender edge at 84-85 with just under 5 minutes left in the fourth. In that time, though, James kept plugging away, be it through scoring or providing assists.

The EuroLeague’s all-time leading scorer entered the fourth quarter with 19 points, 5 assists, 1 rebound and 2 steals in 23 minutes, but he took his game to another level in the fourth quarter and then overtime.

“To get a win here is good for us,” James told EuroLeague TV after the game. “We’ve just to keep building on this and try to play better in the next game.”

Not only did Thursday night see James go first all-time in PIR (5,617) and extend his advantage in first place in scoring (5,407 points), but he also moved to second all-time in three-pointers made (627), ahead of FC Barcelona great Juan Carlos Navarro (623).

Rathan-Mayes catches fire from deep as Bayern 'weathers the storm' to beat Paris

The opening stages of the 2025-26 EuroLeague campaign may not have been what Xavier Rathan-Mayes would have hoped for when he joined FC Bayern Munich in the summer. After netting a season-high 18 points in the opener against Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, the Canadian guard averaged just 5.4 points in his last seven games heading into Thursday’s clash against Paris Basketball.

Rathan-Mayes was particularly struggling to find his range from deep, having gone 6-for-33 in his first eight EuroLeague games as a Bayern player.

And then came this exceptional fourth-quarter outing against Paris.

Bayern started strong and dominated the boards, taking a 19-22 lead after 10 minutes. The visitors didn’t allow Paris to find its rhythm at any point in the first half and established a double-digit advantage thanks to a 2-12 run in the second quarter.

Paris trailed 42-53 at halftime, but it hit the ground running in the second half, opening the third quarter with a 12-1 surge. The hosts upped their defensive game, forcing 7 turnovers by Bayern, which was held to just 11 points as Paris secured a 68-64 lead heading into the fourth.

Yet, the German side showed character and bounced back with a 1-8 run, which was opened by Rathan-Mayes, who netted his second triple of the night after scoring just 4 points in the first three quarters.

“We weathered the storm,” Gordon Herbert told EuroLeague TV after the game. “They got on a big run, we were down by 4, and we were able to make a couple of big plays on the offensive end.”

Justin Robinson tied the game at 72-72 midway through the closing quarter and then the Rathan-Mayes show started.

“He made some huge shots in crunch time,” Herbert added. “Both our point guards \[Spencer Dinwiddie and Kamar Baldwin\] were in foul trouble with 4 \[fouls each\] on the bench and he stepped in and did an outstanding job.”

Paris responded with a 5-0 run, as a triple from Sebastian Herrera brought them within 79-81. But an experienced Dinwiddie came to the fore, nailing an off-balance three-pointer to stun the hosts.

“Paris is a team playing the same way being up 10 or down 20,” Vladimir Lucic told EuroLeague TV. “We let them play their game at the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth. But the good thing is that we bounced back with some individual talent, and made some tough shots in the end to get a big and important win here in Paris.”

Herrera nailed a second straight three that cut the difference to 82-84, but Robinson squandered the opportunity to steal the win by missing from behind the rainbow. Dinwiddie picked up a huge defensive rebound and found Lucic, who dunked in transition to seal the outcome.

As for Rathan-Mayes, he ended the game on 16 points, having gone 5-for-9 from beyond the arc.

“We definitely came out to a good start,” Wenyen Gabriel said. “That shows to our preparation and not getting complacent, carrying the momentum. But also, we responded in the second half to the run that happened in the third quarter. \[This is important\] because we have a big, long road stretch coming up and things like that are going to happen. And how we respond will be important.”

Bayern’s home game against FC Barcelona to open the upcoming double-round week will be followed by seven road games in a row.

But Thursday’s performance could serve as a reminder that this team has the character to bounce back from adversity on the road. And in Rathan-Mayes, they boast the player to deliver in clutch moments.

By winning three consecutive games, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz has bounced back from its worst start ever in the EuroLeague and is now 3-6 in the standings. It showed great strength again, confirming that its defense has been much better since it added [Kobi Simmons](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/kobi-simmons/014152/) and regained the services of Rodions Kurucs, who msised time with an injury. After allowing 96.0 points in those six initial losses, opponents have been held to just 77.3 points on average since then.

Baskonia managed to get the win despite [Sailou Niang](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/saliou-niang/012687/)'s career-best effort. Niang was all over the place, amassing 18 points plus 12 rebounds for a PIR of 35 - all career-highs. Niang made 6 of 8 two-pointers (75.0% 2FG) but his teammates combined for just 11 of 30 shots inside the arc (36.7% 2FG). Still, Virtus managed to make a push and when the going got tough, Baskonia went back to its regular go-to guy to make things happen on offense.

Indeed, Baskonia led from start to finish but it was far from being a walk in the park. Virtus rallied from a 13-point deficit to get within 59-57 late in the third quarter. Until then, Baskonia kept the lead due to a balanced offense, but when a go-to guy was needed, [Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/timothe-luwawu-cabarrot/012080/)stepped up to make the difference in the game.

[Matteo Spagnolo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/matteo-spagnolo/008173/) and [Markquis Nowell](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/markquis-nowell/014119/) sparked a game-changing 17-1 run in which Luwawu-Cabarrot did a little bit of everything. He found Nowell for a wide open three-pointer from the left wing, buried his own shot from downtown off the dribble and made a pair of free throws. All of a sudden, Baskonia led 75-59 and was well on its way to a third consecutive win for the first time since December 8, 2023.

"I'm just here to play and help the team in any way that I can. I'm trying to make stops, get rebounds, communicate and be a leader. Whenever I score points, it's just the team looking for me and them having confidence in me just making the shots," Luwawu-Cabarrot said. 

"We finally figured it out. We know we play at home. Of course, we are going to have more energy. We have to stay focused. I think those three wins are amazing. We have to keep building on this. We have tough road games next week and have to stay focused and use these games we had at home to stay strong and keep building."

Luwawu-Cabarrot scored half of his 16 points in the fourth quarter. He has scored 16 points or more in all nine games this season. Last season, he reached the 16-point mark four times in 26 games. [Hamidou Diallo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/hamidou-diallo/014086/) added 14 and detonated one of the best alley-oop dunks of the season off a no-look pass from Nowell to throw it down with great authority.

"We're starting to figure it out, starting to play together, starting to understand the defensive concepts and we are leaving it all on the floor. I mean, that's what's most important, leave it all on the court and that's what we're doing every night right now," Diallo said after the game. "We didn't have a full training camp with our whole team. We still have guys injured. We are just battling and clawing every night. Happy to get a victory, but we are back to work".

Baskonia has proved to be strong at home and is now ready to test its current momentum on the road. It faces Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv in Round 10 in Sofia, Bulgaria on Tuesday, November 11. A couple of days later, Baskonia goes against Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv in Belgrade, Serbia, in a rematch of the 2005 EuroLeague Championship Game, more than 20 years later.

The French scorer stopped Virtus's comeback at the right time to lead Baskonia to a comfortable win
