The champs will be the guard's fifth stop in the EuroLeague
Panathinaikos inks All-EuroLeague playmaker Lorenzo Brown
After playing some of his best basketball of the season in the playoffs against Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, Lorenzo Brown is now joining the Greens on a three-year deal. The reigning champs announced the signing of the All-EuroLeague guard on Tuesday.
Brown (1.96 meters, 33 years old) spent the last two seasons with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and was chosen to the All-EuroLeague First Team in 2022-23 and the second team last season. He averaged 13.2 points, 6.1 assists and 1.0 steals last season and ranked third in the league in assists.
Brown dominated in the crucial stages of last season, going for 29 points on 7-of-8 three-point shooting and 5 assists to lift Maccabi to victory over Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Play-In Showdown. He then averaged 17.2 points and 5.8 assists for a PIR of 19.2 in the thrilling five-game playoff series against Panathinaikos. He finished the season by winning his second straight Israeli championship with Maccabi.
Panathinaikos will be Brown’s fifth stop in the EuroLeague. He debuted with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade in 2019-20, spent the next one with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and then joined UNICS Kazan for one season before signing with Maccabi.
Brown began his professional career with the Philadelphia 76ers and later played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors in the NBA. He also had stints in the G League with Delaware, Springfield, Grand Rapids and Toronto. Brown’s first experiences outside of North America came in China with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls and Guangzhou Loong Lions. Brown possesses Spanish citizenship and helped the Spanish national team win the gold medal at EuroBasket 2022.
