Panathinaikos OPAP Athens has signed small forward Panagiotis Kalaitzakis on a two-year deal with an option for a third season, the club announced Saturday. Kalaitzakis (2.00 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Lietkabelis Panevezys of Lithuania, where last season he had a breakout campaign in the 7DAYS EuroCup. In 19 EuroCup games with Lietkabelis, Kalaitzakis averaged 13.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals in almost 28 minutes on court to help the team reach the playoffs.
"I feel very happy and blessed for the opportunity given to me to play for one of the biggest teams in Europe", Kalaitzakis said. "What I have to do now is to work hard with my teammates and coaches to succeed. A big dream of mine has come true, I am part of the big Panathinaikos family and I can't wait to compete in the green shirt".
