A pair of direct rivals aiming to snap two-game losing streaks go head-to-head as Efes (7-8) hosts Baskonia (8-7) to start a slate of six Friday games.
Game Notes: Efes vs. Baskonia

Efes was downed in Munich on Wednesday despite a big performance of 19 points and 8 rebounds from recent signing in the paint Dan Oturu. The hosts will look for point guard Darius Thompson to control the tempo as he faces his former team for the first time. Going up against him, Codi Miller-McIntyre will aim to continue his good form for Baskonia, after averaging 11 assists over the last three games. Let's hope for a rematch of the last meeting between the teams – a 114-111 overtime thriller won by Baskonia in January, featuring 16 assists from Thompson.

- This is the 12th consecutive season that these two teams have met in the EuroLeague.
- The last time they met, Matthew Costello had a career-best game as he led Baskonia to a 114-111 overtime win over Efes with career highs in scoring (33), triples made (5) and PIR (33).
- In that game, Darius Thompson, who is now with Efes, set Baskonia’s club record with 16 assists.
- Thompson played with Baskonia last season, making his EuroLeague debut there. He was named to the 2022-23 All-EuroLeague Second Team and led the 2022-23 EuroLeague in assists with 6.7 per game.
- Last season in Istanbul, Baskonia edged Efes 78-83 with Markus Howard netting 19 points and Vanja Marinkovic 18.
- Efes has scored at least 102 points in four of the last five games it has played against Baskonia in Vitoria-Gasteiz, including a club-scoring record of 111 twice, both in overtime games: first in April 2021 and again last season.
- Efes’s backcourt duo of Rodrigue Beaubois and Shane Larkin both played for Baskonia. They were there together during the 2016-17 season when Larkin made his EuroLeague debut. Beaubois played for Baskonia during the 2017-18 season, too.
- Efes center Tibor Pleiss spent two seasons with Baskonia, from 2012 to 2014.
- Efes center Tibor Pleiss set his career high in blocks with 4 while playing for Galatasaray Istanbul against Baskonia in December 2016.
- Baskonia guard Niccolo Mannion posted his career high in scoring with 17 and in PIR with 20 while playing for Virtus Segafredo Bologna against Efes in March of last season.
