Valencia Basket will play a third consecutive Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season, a first in the club's history, with the aim of reestablishing itself as a playoff contender, albeit without some familiar faces. Emblematic inside anchor Bojan Dubljevic left after 11 seasons, as did long-time point guard Sam Van Rossom after 10. In their absence, Valencia will try to build on a solid first season under head coach Alex Mumbru, which ended four victories shy of the playoffs, and give fans big expectations for when the club's new 15,600-seat arena opens in 2024.

An opener to set the tone
Four home losses by a total of eight points that could have changed the team's fortunes last season makes it imperative for Valencia to quickly establish La Fonteta as a no-win zone for visitors. The first of those is AS Monaco and new addition Kemba Walker, the former NBA star. If Valencia can hold serve on opening day against last season's Final Four qualifiers, it will lay down an early psychological marker that will also boost the confidence of a roster with at least six new players in key spots.
