Virtus unveils roster with Will Clyburn among new six faces
Virtus Segafredo Bologna unveiled its updated roster on Saturday with six new players, including former Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion and Final Four MVP Will Clyburn. He is joined by Matt Morgan, Andrejs Grazulis, Nicola Akele, Riccardo Visconti and Mouhamet Diouf as the newest members of the squad. Contract details were not released for any of the players.
A two-time All-EuroLeague forward, Will Clyburn (2.01 meters, 34 years old) arrives from Anadolu Efes Istanbul, where he spent the past two seasons. He averaged 13.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 25 EuroLeague appearances last season. At Virtus, Clyburn will reunite with several former teammates, including Daniel Hackett, whom he played alongside for four seasons at CSKA Moscow; Toko Shengelia, whom he played with for two seasons at CSKA; and Ante Zizic, who was Cyburn’s teammate during the 2016-17 campaign with Darussafaka Istanbul.
Matt Morgan (1.88 meters, 26 years old) is a point guard who was an All-EuroCup First Team selection last season with the London Lions. He led the team and was fifth in the BKT EuroCup in scoring with 16.5 points per game. He added 3.9 assists for a PIR of 18.0 in 22 games for London, which reached the EuroCup Semifinals.
Andrejs Grazulis (2.02 meters, 31 years old) remains in Italy after spending five seasons in the country, first with Derthona Basket and then with Trieste and Dolomiti Energia Trento. He averaged 12.3 points and 5.2 rebounds in 18 EuroCup games for Trento last season, which was his second with the club and third in the competition.
Forward Nicola Akele (2.03 meters, 28 years old) played for Germani Brescia the last two seasons, including 19 appearances in the EuroCup in 2022-23. Last season he averaged 4.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in the Italian League.
Mouhamet Diouf (2.08 meters, 22 years old) returns to Italy after a season in Spain with Breogan, where he averaged 7.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in 12 games. Diouf is a member of the Italian national team for which he played at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Diouf began his career at Reggio Emilia, where he spent five seasons.
Italian guard Riccardo Visconti (1.98 meters, 25 years old) played for Pesaro the last two seasons and averaged 7.3 points in 29 Italian League games last season. He has been a member of the Italian national team.
Virtus also named Marco Belinelli, Devontae Cacok, Isaia Cordinier, Daniel Hackett, Alessandro Pajola, Achille Polonara, Toko Shengelia and Ante Zizic as returning players.
