In 2021, the MVPs of the world's three most prestigious professional basketball competitions all hailed from the same small European country, Serbia. It was more than an unprecedented coincidence. It was a testament to that country's passion for the game and the star quality of the talent produced and nurtured there.

Mike James was the leader and go-to guy for an AS Monaco squad that defied the expectations to reach the playoffs and then took traditional power Olympiacos Piraeus the distance before bowing out. James did it all for his team; he ranked third in the league in both scoring (16.4 ppg.) and assists (5.8 apg.) and was 10th in steals (1.2 spg.).

Two newly-refurbished basketball courts opened in Istanbul thanks to a joint project between One Team, Euroleague Basketball's social responsibility program, and its partner BKT. The indoor and outdoor courts are located at the public TEB Atasehir Anatolian High School, the partner of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul's One Team program.

Nikola Jokic, the NBA MVP, comes from Serbia's far north; Milos Teodosic, the 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season MVP, from the central part of the country; and Vasilije Micic, the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague MVP, from the far south.
