About the program:
After winning Gold award as best One Team program of 2024/25 season, ASVEL continues to run its One Team program in collaboration with SESSAD Emile Zola, providing daily guidance with the help of a wide team of specialists to ensure that participants are accompanied both at school and in their extracurricular activities. This partnership allows ASVEL to connect with young people who are seeking opportunities to engage in adapted physical activity.
Thanks to the success of working closely with AFG Autisme, ASVEL’s reach now extends throughout the Lyon area. A major novelty this season is the creation of a dedicated training slot once a month for children receiving treatment in hospitals across the city, further expanding the program’s accessibility.
This year the program involves around 80 participants, including 25 children, 15 teenagers, and 40 adults. Sessions are held weekly at several locations, and the training is complemented by tournaments, friendly matches, and club events designed to promote communication, teamwork, responsibility, and self-confidence. Participants also benefit from opportunities to attend ASVEL games, receive team jerseys, and take part in end-of-season celebrations, reinforcing their sense of belonging to the club.
Through these initiatives, ASVEL continues to strengthen its long-standing partnerships with SESSAD Emile Zola and AFG Autisme, using basketball to promote social inclusion, develop life skills, and offer people with intellectual disabilities a meaningful place within the club and the wider community.
