About the Program:
Through many years of continuous engagement, Olympiacos BC has built a strong legacy within the One Team program, collaborating since 2012 with special schools and nonprofit organizations that support children and adults with disabilities. This season, the inclusive journey continues under the motto “Together We Play – Together We Grow”, expanding its impact by connecting two distinct groups:
Group 1: Sixth-grade students from a general elementary school in Piraeus, including children from low-income families, mild intellectual disabilities, behavioral challenges, and refugee backgrounds.
Group 2: Adults from the organization of EPSYME, living with autism and intellectual disabilities.
Each group participates in tailored basketball sessions every two weeks, led by experienced coaches and volunteers. Later in the season, both groups come together to share experiences, learn teamwork, and celebrate inclusion through sport.
The program’s objectives include building confidence and emotional resilience, promoting empathy and mutual understanding, developing communication and teamwork skills, and encouraging respect and positive behavior. By engaging youth and adults in meaningful interactions, Olympiacos BC helps to break down stereotypes, reduce bullying, and strengthen community ties.
Throughout the season, One Team Ambassadors, Sasha Vezenkov and Giannoulis Larentzakis, will join sessions to inspire participants, reward effort, and show that basketball is more than competition: it’s a tool for equality, respect, and unity.
