About the program:
ratiopharm Ulm is continuing its collaboration with Lebenshilfe Senden, focusing on educating and supporting children with disabilities with the aim of enhancing public understanding with regard to intellectual disabilities while fostering social engagement within the community.
As part of this initiative, the BBU Specials team, comprised of players aged between 14 and 21, will hold weekly practices throughout the season. A key objective is to involve these young athletes in all club activities, promoting interaction and minimizing social barriers.
At the heart of the program is the development of life skills through basketball, with a strong emphasis on teamwork. The players participate in drills that encourage collaboration and communication while improving their basketball skills, in addition to engaging in enjoyable activities like dribbling and passing games to enhance their abilities and build confidence.
Thomas Klepeisz, a seasoned veteran of the One Team program, continues to lead by example in his fifth season as an ambassador for Ulm, leaning on his extensive experience and deep commitment to community engagement.
The program also encourages participants to solve problems independently or as a team, fostering critical thinking and adaptability. Practices are tailored to meet the specific needs of each player, ensuring a supportive environment that empowers young individuals through the sport of basketball. Through this initiative, Ulm and Lebenshilfe Senden are making a meaningful impact in the lives of these athletes.
