About the program:
Real Madrid is continuing to incorporate its One Team activities into the successful program run by the Real Madrid Foundation, ‘Adapted School Basketball’. This initiative provides high-quality basketball-related activities to participants with disabilities who don’t usually find many opportunities to play. All of the sessions are adapted to their special needs, with qualified teachers and coaches on hand to assist the participants. The main objective is to teach these individuals how to play basketball while also embedding positive values, such as team spirit, autonomy, equality and self-esteem. The program also promotes the importance of health and hygiene. Twice a week from October 2023 to June 2024, Real Madrid works with 275 people between the age of 12 and 30 who have intellectual and functional disabilities, with 25 groups in different facilities around the city. The Real Madrid Foundation has also developed another basketball project for people with physical or intellectual disabilities, like wheelchair schools and inclusive schools.
