[Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/cedevita-olimpija-ljubljana/roster/lju/) will have big man [Ziga Daneu](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/ziga-daneu/records/009431/) for at least another two seasons and the sides agreed to terms on an extension, the club announced Wednesday. Daneu (2.10 meters, 22 years old) appeared in nine EuroCup games for Cedevita last season, during which he averaged 1.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 8:42 minutes per game.

Best of Ziga Daneu: 2024-25

A product of the Cedevita Olimpija youth system, Daneu made his EuroCup debut during the 2021-22 season and then played a season each with fellow Slovenian clubs Nutrispoint Ilirija Ljubljana and Helios Suns Domzale before returning to Cedevita a year ago. Daneu has also been a member of the Slovenian U20 and U19 national teams.

The Daneu family has been essential to Olimpija's success in the past. His grandfather Ivo Daneu was one of the greatest guards in European basketball history. Ivo helped the former Yugoslavia win the 1970 World Cup and a silver medal at the 1968 Olympics as highlights of a legendary career that helped him become one of FIBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1991. His father Jaka Daneu helped Olimpija reach the 1997 EuroLeague Final Four and win eight consecutive Slovenian League championships.

BAXI Manresa reloaded at the forward spot by signing [Gustav Knudsen](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/gustav-knudsen/009359/) to a three-year contract, the club announced on Tuesday.

Knudsen (2.04 meters, 22 years old) arrives from Spirou Charleroi of Belgium, where he was worth 7.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in the domestic league and 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in the FIBA Europe Cup. At age 16, he joined the youth system of Spanish club Casademont Zaragoza and spent three seasons there. Knudsen made two appearances for Zaragoza's senior team. He returned to Denmark in 2022 and played two campaigns with Bakken Bears. Knudsen debuted with the Danish national team in February 2024.

Ever since 2019, Sanli has known what is required at the Final Four. Aside from 2020, when the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore the Final Four didn’t take place, Sanli has featured in the last six editions of the Final Four. Now 33, his experience was important in helping Fenerbahce secure its second EuroLeague crown eight years after first becoming Europe’s champion.

Sertac Sanli: Tribute to the Champs

Sanli played in 33 games this season for coach Saras Jasikevicius’s squad, averaging 5.5 points and 2.4 rebounds in a little over 13 minutes per night. Particularly during the regular season, he netted 7 or more points 14 times, showing that he was an important contributor for the team.

Although he played a total of 12:33 minutes in the postseason, including 3:06 minutes at the Final Four, his know-how and wise words were important traits for Coach Jasikevicius, whose side replicated the feat of Zeljko Obradovic’s 2017 squad by winning the EuroLeague.

Panathinaikos, Dimitris Moraitis together until 2028

[Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/panathinaikos-aktor-athens/roster/pan/?season=2024-25) and playmaker [Dimitris Moraitis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/dimitris-moraitis/006544/) have agreed to a contract extension that will keep them together through the end of the 2027-28 season, the club announced Tuesday.

Moraitis (1.90 meters, 26 years old) has spent the last two seasons with the Greens. He played in only one EuroLeague game last season, scoring 2 points in 4 minutes against Anadolu Efes Istanbul in Round 15. He saw much more playing time in the Greek League, where he averaged 3.4 points and 1.5 assists in 17 games. 

Moraitis has helped the Greens win the Greek League, the Greek Cup and the EuroLeague in his time with the club. He started his career with Panionios Athens and also played for AEK Athens, Kolossos Rhodes and Peristeri Athens before joining Panathinaikos. He has also been a member of the Greek national team and took part in the 2023 Basketball World Cup.

Bourg lands up-and-coming center Yvann Mbaya

Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse continued its preparation for the 2025-26 season by inking center Yvann Mbaya to a one-year deal, the club announced Tuesday.

Mbaya (2.09 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Alliance Sports Alsace Gries-Souffel (ASA Basket), where he averaged 8.1 points on 60.8% shooting and 6.5 rebounds in 46 French second division games last season. He played against Bourg in the French Cup and posted a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Mbaya started his career with ES Chalon-sur-Saone of his native France and also played for Union Poitiers Basket 86 and ESSM Le Portel Cote d'Opale before joining ASA Basket. He has been a member of the French U16 and U20 national teams. 

"With his dominant physicality and his ability to set excellent screens and dominate the rebounds, Yvann will bring us aspects we lacked this season following Bodian \[Massa\]'s departure," Bourg sports director Francois Lamy said. "He is coming off a very successful season in a well-constructed and well-coached squad."

Bagatskis arrives at the club after spending the last three seasons with Romanian side CSO Voluntari. The former player, who featured for Zalgiris Kaunas in the 2003-04 and 2004-05 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague seasons, returns to the BKT EuroCup after a nine-year absence.

He has a 16-41 record as a head coach in the EuroLeague, having coached Zalgiris Kaunas (2005-07), Budivelnik Kiev (2013-14), Nizhny Novgorod (2014-15), and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv (2016-17).

The 58-year-old play-caller also spent three years coaching in the EuroCup, two of which came with Budivelnik (2012-14), and the other came with Nizhny Novgorod (2015-16).

Cavanaugh (2.06 meters, 31 years old) averaged 9.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in 22 BKT EuroCup games last season as he helped Bahcesehir get to the semifinals for the first time in club history. He ranked 14th in three-point shooting (44.1% 3FG). It was Cavanaugh's second season with the club.

Tyler Cavanaugh made his BKT EuroCup debut last season, helping Bahcesehir College Istanbul reach the semifinals.

Cluj extends club legend Patrick Richard

[U-BT Cluj-Napoca](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/u-bt-cluj-napoca/roster/clu/?season=2024-25) announced that is has signed a new deal with playmaker [Patrick Richard](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/patrick-richard/011801/), who will remain with the club through the end of the 2026-27 season.

Richard (1.95 meters, 35 years old) was selected to the 2023-24 All-EuroCup Second Team, but he missed most of the 2024-25 season due to injury. He averaged 3.3 points in seven BKT EuroCup games. In six seasons with the club, Richard has led Cluj to win five consecutive Romanian League crowns and three Romanian Cups. He also helped Cluj reach the EuroCup quarterfinals in each of the last two seasons.

Richard started his career with Sangringham Sabres in Australia and also played for Matrixx Magixx Wijchen in the Netherlands, Mitteldeutscher Weissenfelds in Germany, Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket in France, Maccabi Rishon LeZion in Israel, Joventut Badalona in Spain, the New Zealand Breakers, and Reggio Emilia in Italy, before joining Cluj in 2019. Richard has also been a member of the Romanian national team. In 43 EuroCup career games with Cluj, Richard has averaged 10.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

Polonara diagnosed with myeloid leukemia 

Virtus Segafredo Bologna shared on Monday that power forward Achille Polonara is currently hospitalized at Sant’Orsola Malpighi in Bologna after being diagnosed with myeloid leukemia. Over the last few weeks, Polonara underwent specialized medical tests, which confirmed the diagnosis. 

This comes after an October 2023 bout with a testicular tumor. The tumor was surgically removed and his treatment also included a round of chemotherapy before Polonara was able to return to basketball courts in mid-December 2023.

Euroleague Basketball joins the entire Virtus Segafredo Bologna organization, the European basketball family and all those close to Achille and his loved ones to wish him a speedy recovery.

Waterman (2.03 meters, 29 years old) averaged 10.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in 38 Lithuanian League games last season, his first with the team. He started his professional basketball career with BG Goettingen of Germany and has also played for Ferrocarril Oeste in Argentina, Nova Hul Ostrava in the Czech Republic, Ene Astoria Bydgoszcz in Poland, the Franklin Bulls in New Zealand, Oliveirense in Portugal, the Hamilton Honey Badgers and the Ottawa Blackjacks in Canada, the Helsinki Seagulls in Finland, Apollon Limassol in Cyprus and Nedainiu Nevezis-Optibet in Lithuania. A true basketball globetrotter, Waterman is set to make his EuroCup debut with Neptunas next season.

"Our club appreciates the fact that players show a desire to stay and play in Klaipeda, and we were not a difficult choice for Zane," Neptunas director Martynas Mazeika said. "He has several years of LKL experience, has already played for Coach Petrauskas. Hopefully in the coming season, he will be even more useful and show all his potential."

[Umana Reyer Venice](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/umana-reyer-venice/roster/vnc/?season=2024-25) bolstered its frontcourt with the signing of center [Chris Horton](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/chris-horton/011988/), the club announced Monday.

Horton (2.02 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Sportinvest Trapani Sharks, where he averaged 10.4 points on 68.1% two-point shooting and 6.4 rebounds in 36 Italian League games last season. He was eighth in the league in rebounding. Horton posted four double-doubles, including one against Reyer with 18 points and 14 rebounds in a 110-100 victory.

Horton started his career with Grand Rapids in the G League and has also played for Alba Fehervar in Hungary, GS Kymis in Greece, BCM Gravlines Dunkerque, Cholet Basket and Nanterre 92 in France, Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel and Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar in Russia. He made his EuroCup debut with Hapoel and averaged 6.8 points and 7.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals in four EuroCup games.

Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse strengthened its backcourt by signing scoring machine Darius McGhee on Sunday. McGhee (1.75 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Telekom Baskets Bonn, where he averaged 15.5 points and 4.2 assists in 31 German League games last season. 

He boosted his scoring average to 17.4 points in 10 BCL games. McGhee had a couple of stellar performances in the German League, including 40 points on 10-of-16 three-point shooting against EWE Baskets Oldenburg, and 44 points on 12-of-16 from deep against Niners Chemnitz.

McGhee had a decorated college basketball career at Liberty University. He was a three-time ASUN Conference Player of the Year and one of only five players in NCAA history to make more than 500 three-pointers. McGhee ranks second overall (528) on the all-time Division I charts only trailing Antoine Davis (588) and ahead of Max Abnas (512) and Fletcher Magee (509), who played the 2024-25 EuroCup with Buducnost VOLI Podgorica. 

McGhee shares the NCAA record with Stephen Curry for most three-pointers in a season with 162. He started his professional basketball career with the Indiana Mad Ants of the G League before joining Bonn last season.

Mokoka (1.96 meters, 26 years old) arrives from [U-BT Cluj-Napoca](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/u-bt-cluj-napoca/clu/), where he averaged 11.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 18 EuroCup games off the bench last season. In his two seasons with Cluj, Mokoka helped helped Cluj win back-to-back Romanian League titles and lift the Romanian Cup in 2025. He started his career with BCM Gravelines Dunkerque in his native France, and also played for Mega Basket in Serbia, the Chicago Bulls of the NBA; Windy City Bulls, Austin Spurs and Oklahoma City Blue of the G League, as well as for Umana Reyer Venice in Italy before joining Cluj in 2023.

Mokoka has been a member of the French national team and was successful in youth categories. He helped France win respective gold medals at the 2014 U16 European Championships and the 2016 U18 European Championships. He played 37 EuroCup games with Cluj, amassing 366 points and 111 rebounds, and helped his team reach the quarterfinals in each of his two seasons there. An explosive player, Mokoka is now ready to thrill Bourg fans with his energy and high-flying dunks.
