Grunkis scored 11 points, grabbed 2 rebounds and had 7 assists in [Zalgiris’s 89-81 victory over U18 EA7 Emporio Armani Milan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/ngt/news/jtf424-next-gen-dubai-report-final-milan-zalgiris/) in the NextGen Championship Game. The Zalgiris guard was joined on the All-Tournament Team by the Milan duo of Luigo Suigo and Achille Lonati, Ognjen Srzentic of U18 Mega Super Belgrade, and U18 Real Madrid's Sidi Gueye. 

For the tournament, Grunkis, who was only four months old when Zalgiris celebrated title number two in 2007, averaged 13.2 points on 53 percent three-point shooting, 2.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists for a performance index rating average of 14.2. His biggest performance came in the team’s opening game – an overtime win over U18 Pole France INSEP Paris in which he scored 28 points with 6 three-pointers. Grunkis did not finish in the top 10 of any statistical category. 

Suigo, for his part, collected 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for a PIR of 33 in Milan’s first-ever Championship Game. He finished with 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.2 blocks for an average efficiency of 21.5. Suigo ranked second in PIR, seventh in points and fourth in rebounds. 

Lonati poured in 26 points with 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 block for a 22 PIR in the Championship Game. The guard averaged 23.8 points with 48 percent shooting, 4.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks for a PIR average of 22.8. He was fourth in PIR, first in scoring, eighth in assists and second in steals. 

Gueye tried all he could to lead Real to a third straight crown, but it wasn’t enough. The center tallied 17.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks for a tournament-best 24.7 PIR. Gueye also was sixth in scoring and fourth in rebounds. 

The other All-Tournament Team member was Srzentic, who tallied 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals for a PIR of 20.7. He ranked sixth in PIR and second in points.

While Friday's loss to AS Monaco in the semifinals is sure to sting for some time, Olympiacos bounced back with a fantastic showing to finish the season in third place. Coach Georgios Bartzokas's men led from tip to buzzer with several players shining on the night.

[Alec Peters](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/alec-peters/008829/) shined bright with 32 points on 6-of-11 three-point shooting. After the game, he revealed a little about his approach to the game.

"I feel blessed to have the opportunity to bring joy to a lot of people’s lives out here," Peters said. "They came to see some basketball and every time I put on my shoes, I’m gonna try to give my best effort because I don’t want to stop playing someday and feel like I could have given more. So that’s what it was about for me today."

Peters tied Trajan Langdon for the most points scored in a Final Four game in the last quarter century. Langdon did so in 2011 for CSKA Moscow. Peters's 6-three-pointers also evened the Final Four mark.

"It sounds like I could have made one more and broken both of those records," Peters joked. "I’m gonna be thinking about that all night now!"

[Luca Vildoza](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/luca-vildoza/007947/) dished 9 assists and [Thomas Walkup](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/thomas-walkup/008855/) 8 to lead the attack as the Reds smashed the Final Four record with 34 assists. The previous record of 31 belonged to Maccabi Tel Aviv from its legendary 2004 championship game bashing of Skipper Bologna.

[Sasha Vezenkov](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/sasha-vezenkov/003469/) bounced back from his lowest-scoring game of the season in the semis to pour in 23 points for the winners and [Moses Wright](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/moses-wright/012878/) netted a season-high 19.

"We gotta set the tone for the Greek League Finals. This isn’t a game we took lightly," said Wright, who missed a chunk of the season due to a medical condition. "It was great to get back out there and show everybody what I can do… To get a win here and get the momentum here for the Greek League is what we were trying to do and we did it.

"To play a lot of minutes and score, rebound and affect the game the way I did felt really good."

These two teams will lock horns again later this week in the opener of the Greek League Finals. Regardless of how that goes for the Reds, they can take pride in how they finished the EuroLeague season.

Olympiacos Piraeus signed off from the 2025 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four in style by grabbing a 97-93 win over Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens in the Third-Place Game. The Reds got off to a 7-0 start and ended up leading the entire way, but the fans of both teams remained engaged throughout as they cheered on their teams.

Alec Peters paced Olympiacos with 32 points, a new club record at the Final Four and tied for the most all-time in a Final Four game in the modern era, while Sasha Vezenkov bounced back with 23 points and Moses Wright, who didn’t feature in the semifinals, netted 19 points. Luca Vildoza and Thomas Walkup both went scoreless, but they finished with 9 and 8 assists, respectively. Panathinaikos was led by Omer Yurtseven’s 23 points, followed by 14 for Cedi Osman and 12 for Mathias Lessort. Lorenzo Brown dished 12 assists.

It was Olympiacos which started the better as Peters, Evan Fournier and Vezenkov put the Reds 7-0 ahead. Lorenzo Brown got Panathinaikos on the board, then Konstantinos Mitoglou, Yurtseven and Nunn combined to cut the deficit to four points, 12-8. Vezenkov and Peters struck from downtown as the Reds pushed the lead to 20-10. Vezenkov kept charging to move the score to 26-12. Peters stayed hot, too, while a couple of late Wright scores made it a 15-point ballgame, 33-18. Kendrick Nunn closed the first quarter by moving to 7 points, which meant he is the first player in EuroLeague history to score 800 points in one season. It was 33-20 after 10 minutes.

Panathinaikos found a response in the second quarter as Alexandros Samodurov knocked down a three-pointer, then four points by Lessort and five by Osman made things interesting at 36-32. Samodurov and Jerian Grant responded to Olympiacos, 42-38, but Wright, Saben Lee and Vezenkov stepped up as the Reds went 57-42 ahead. The Greens had back-to-back scores to finish the second quarter, however, as Nunn converted before Tibor Pleiss had a put-back dunk to cut the gap to 57-46 at the interval.

Yurtseven and Osman joined forces to put more pressure on Olympiacos in the early stages of the third frame, 60-52, but Fournier’s triple and Moustapha Fall’s dunk ensured it was a double-digit difference again, 66-54. Yurtseven, Osman and Mitoglou brought it within five points, 67-62, but Peters and Vezenkov were there to keep things calm for Olympiacos, which led 75-64 heading into the final quarter.

Any hopes of a Panathinaikos comeback were put on hold as Vezenkov and Lee responded to a Grant three, 81-69, and again when Peters struck from three-point land before Wright scored inside at 86-72. Giannoulis Larentzakis’s triple looked like it could have been the closer at 89-76, but there was still life in last year’s champion as Panathinaikos went on a 16-4 run to make it very interesting at 93-90. Larentzakis hit a couple of free throws with 7 seconds left, 95-90, then Kalaitzakis converted a three, 95-93, but Peters had a perfect trip to the line as Olympiacos grabbed a 97-93 win.

Nigel Hayes-Davis led the way with 23 points and 9 rebounds, with Marko Guduric scoring 19, while Devon Hall and Wade Baldwin netted 13 apiece. Alpha Diallo paced Monaco with 19 points, Mike James scored 17, Matthew Strazel had 13 and Daniel Theis contributed 12.

At 19:00 CEST, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and AS Monaco meet in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Game at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi to determine the 2024-25 EuroLeague champion. Fenerbahce is aiming to lift its second EuroLeague crown after last doing so in 2017, while Monaco is competing in the title decider for the first time.

### Javier Gancedo: Monaco

It is arguably the most unpredictable Championship Game in many years. None of the superstars on either team have been at this level before, plus no French League team has got this far in more than three decades. Still, I believe the 2025 Final Four will go down as Mike James's finest moment. James started the season with an injury and has only got better and better since Vassilis Spanoulis was hired as head coach. He understands the game better than ever, has a team-first approach, and can help his side in many ways. It is safe to say that Coach Spanoulis made James a better leader. Jaron Blossomgame and Alpha Diallo are good, solid options to use against Nigel Hayes-Davis, plus Daniel Theis gives Monaco much-needed physicality in the middle. Long story short, Monaco has everything to make history. James is the only player in the All-25 EuroLeague team that never won the competition. That comes to an end tonight. **My take: Monaco by 5-7 points, Mike James as Final Four MVP.**

### Igor Petrinovic: Fenerbahce

I don’t remember the last time I was this torn about making a pick. Whether I was right or wrong in the past, I had an idea about who I thought would win. This time, I see only the strengths of both teams. I would say Fenerbahce is playing better as a team and is arguably EuroLeague’s best team this calendar year. They've got many pieces who seem like role players until they start taking over games, and every player has bought into coach Saras Jasikevicius's team-first mentality a long time ago. But I also believe Monaco has a more star-studded lineup than Fenerbahce, with Mike James leading the way. And James was locked in in the semifinals. Monaco beat Fenerbahce twice this season, and the Roca Team might have just put their best performance of the season on display in the semis. So, with all that in mind, there is only one way this should be decided: overtime. And in the extra session? I am staying with the pick I made in my Playoffs Bracket. **My pick: Fenerbahce in OT, Tarik Biberovic as Final Four MVP.**

So, it seems that Igor and I speak the same language. Fenerbahce has only got better as the season has gone on and their semifinal performance against Panathinaikos proved that it has learned the lessons of last year. Coach Saras Jasikevicius has also learned from his previous Final Four heartbreaks as a head coach and is the calmest I remember seeing him. My [Euroleague.net](http://Euroleague.net) colleagues know how much I love Mike James, but Fenerbahce's got the defensive nous and offensive quality to make Monaco suffer, despite losing both regular-season games to Vassilis Spanoulis's squad. After an eight-year wait, the EuroLeague title is heading to Istanbul! **My prediction: Fenerbahce by 7 points, Wade Baldwin as Final Four MVP.**

Belief in which team will win tonight comes down to which narrative you believe in more. Is it finally time for Saras to win the EuroLeague as a head coach? Or is Vassilis Spanoulis destined to win it in his first try? Is Mike James going to leave the list of the best players never to win the EuroLeague? Are Nigel Hayes-Davis and Wade Baldwin going to climb the mountain? The players say this game is won by who wants it more. My gut feeling is that Monaco will be that team. And MJ55 will take home the Final Four MVP Trophy.

U18 Zalgiris Kaunas was crowned 2024-25 Adidas NextGen EuroLeague Finals champion by beating U18 EA7 Emporio Armani Milan 81-89 in Sunday’s Championship Game. The Lithuanians have joined Real Madrid and CSKA Moscow in an exclusive group of only three clubs to have ever lifted three or more Championships. A game of runs saw the Italian side take a 51-49 edge into the second half, when Zalgiris’s defence tightened up to contain Milan’s offensive weapons, handing their rivals its first defeat of the tournament.

Kajus Mikalauskas paced Zalgiris with 20 points and Majus Bulanovas scored 19, having gone 5-for-8 from deep. Ilja Kurucs bagged 15 points, Dovydas Buika netted 12 and Dominykas Grunkis added 11.

For Milan, Achille Lonati had 26 points, with Luigi Suigo completing a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Diego Garavaglia registered 13 points and Guglielmo Youssef got 10 in a losing effort.

Milan netted the first two buckets of the game, but Zalgiris responded with a 0-7 run fueled by Mikalauskas. The Italian side went on a 11-2 surge to take a 18-12 lead after a Lonati triple. The Italian guard drilled another one from deep, taking his tally to 14 first-quarter points, but Majus Bulanovas answered from beyond the arc, trimming the deficit to 31-25 after 10 minutes.

A 9-3 spurt allowed Milan to grab a double-digit lead early in the second quarter, but Zalgiris tightened up its defense and replied with a 4-19 run to grab a 44-47 cushion. Yet, another triple from Lonati was followed by buckets from Garavaglia and Suigo, who gave Milan a 51-49 edge at halftime.

Zalgiris opened the third quarter with a 2-12 surge, as Milan went scoreless for the first 5 minutes of the second half. Michele Catalani’s side fought back, with Youssef adding 6 points to his tally, but Zalgiris maintained a 64-69 advantage heading into the closing quarter.

The game turned into a back-and-forth affair before a three by Lonati brought Milan within 74-76. Kurucs and Buika replied from downtown, making it 76-84. Then, Omar Karem nailed one of his own on the other end, but it wasn’t enough for Milan to turn the game around.

"It feels great. It is always great to have a chance to be able to win a championship, so for us to make it to the final is huge. And we want to do better than that. Obviously, we want to win it. It is huge for us to get your body right, to get your mindset right and to stay locked in. They are well coached. They have got a lot of guys that can create and get shooters the ball in the right position. They know how to play, their guards are really tough. And then obviously you got Nigel \[Hayes-Davis\] who pretty much can do it all. It felt really good to be out there. It's been a long time, it has been an up-and-down season for me with injuries, and just to be out there with the guys and help was great. I hope to do the same thing tomorrow.
