FC Bayern Munich forward Augustine Rubit is set to be sidelined for a significant amount of time due to an Achilles tendon injury. Rubit was injured in a German Cup semifinals game against ALBA Berlin on Saturday and had to leave the arena on crutches. Bayern's general manager Marko Pesic, told German television that Rubit had undergone surgery on Sunday. "It doesn't look good; it's an injury to the Achilles tendon," Pesic said. Rubit has averaged 10.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and a PIR of 13.8 so far this season. He was chosen as the EuroLeague MVP for January, becoming Bayern's first player to receive this award, after averaging 17.8 points and a PIR of 21.0 during that month.
