The big man shined as one of the best big men in the EuroCup in recent seasons
Monaco brings back high-flying Yoan Makoundou

As Monaco has injected a load of explosiveness into its frontline by bringing back Yoan Makoundou, who spent the last two seasons on loan.
Makoundou (2.07 meters, 24 years old) is coming off a strong season with Turk Telekom Ankara. He produced 11.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks while helping the club reach last season's EuroCup Quarterfinals. He was second in the competition in blocks.
That came after a breakout 2023-24 campaign with Buducnost VOLI Podgorica, in which he helped the club win the Montenegrin championship.
Makoundou returns to the EuroLeague for the first time since he debuted in the competition with Monaco in 2022-23. He appeared in eight games that season, including that third-place game at the Final Four in Kaunas, where Monaco defeated FC Barcelona.
A product of the Cholet Basket youth system, Makoundou made his professional debut with that team and played three seasons at the senior level before joining Monaco. Makoundou has also played for the French national team, for which he made his first appearance in November 2022.
"I'm happy to be back in Monaco after having already spent one season here. Returning to the EuroLeague was a goal for me," Makoundou said. "During my seasons abroad, I improved and I want to do even more to reach new levels."
