The German team will be looking for a defensive improvement after allowing 109 points in last week's loss against Efes, which also saw veteran leader Vladimir Lucic make 5 of 5 triples in his best game since returning from injury. November's meeting between the teams was a thriller, edged 74-73 by Zalgiris with a game-winning basket from team leader Keenan Evans, who has scored at least 18 points in each of the last four games. Slowing down Evans will be the focus of Pablo Laso's defensive preparations.
- Zalgiris head coach Andrea Trinchieri will be coaching his first game against Bayern where he spent the last three seasons, and made history with the club making its only two EuroLeague playoff appearances in 2021 and 2022.
- Trinchieri was on Bayern's bench in April 2021, when Bayern made German basketball history by pulling out a playoff-clinching 71-70 win over Zalgiris. Vladimir Lucic scored 13 points, made the game-winning free throws, and delivered a game-clinching block. That was the first time a German team had reached the EuroLeague Playoffs.
