Two direct rivals aiming to climb closer to the top 10 go head to head for a vital meeting as Andrea Trinchieri takes Zalgiris (11-17) to face his former team, Bayern (12-16).
Game Notes: Bayern vs. Zalgiris

The German team will be looking for a defensive improvement after allowing 109 points in last week's loss against Efes, which also saw veteran leader Vladimir Lucic make 5 of 5 triples in his best game since returning from injury. November's meeting between the teams was a thriller, edged 74-73 by Zalgiris with a game-winning basket from team leader Keenan Evans, who has scored at least 18 points in each of the last four games. Slowing down Evans will be the focus of Pablo Laso's defensive preparations.
- Zalgiris head coach Andrea Trinchieri will be coaching his first game against Bayern where he spent the last three seasons, and made history with the club making its only two EuroLeague playoff appearances in 2021 and 2022.
- Trinchieri was on Bayern's bench in April 2021, when Bayern made German basketball history by pulling out a playoff-clinching 71-70 win over Zalgiris. Vladimir Lucic scored 13 points, made the game-winning free throws, and delivered a game-clinching block. That was the first time a German team had reached the EuroLeague Playoffs.
- Bayern and Zalgiris have met 12 times in the EuroLeague, with each team winning 6 games. Zalgiris has won the last three, and five of the last seven games have been decided by 3 points or fewer.
- Last season in Round 34, Zalgiris clinched a playoff spot with an 80-83 victory in Munich as Lukas Lekavicius scored 20 points. Arnas Butkevicius posted career highs in rebounds (9), matching the same he had against Bayern in Kaunas, and assists (6).
- Last season in Kaunas when Zalgiris beat Bayern 75-67, Keenan Evans scored 32 points and had a career-best 39 PIR, earning the MVP of the Round honor.
- Bayern sharpshooter Niels Giffey played for Zalgiris in the 2021-22 season.
- Zalgiris big man Rolands Smits and Bayern's Leandro Bolmaro were teammates at FC Barcelona for two seasons, from 2019 to 2021.
- Bayern's Isaac Bonga had a personal-best 4 steals in his team's loss in Kaunas last season.
- Zalgiris guard Tomas Dimsa had a career-high 3 steals in his team's home win over Bayern last season.
- Lucic had a career-high 3 steals in Bayern's road win over Zalgiris in October 2021.
