Promitheas Patras announced on Saturday that it signed guard Joe Thomasson for the remainder of the season. Thomasson (1.93 meters, 29 years old) steps into the role vacated by Joe Young, who parted ways with the club last week. Young was the EuroCup’s top scorer with 23.4 points per game.
Thomasson arrives from Zenit St. Petersburg, where he had averaged 5.5 points and 2.6 assists in 19 games in the VTB United League this season. The season before, Thomasson starred for BAXI Manresa; he averaged 13.2 points and 3.5 assists in the Spanish League and was named to the All-ACB Second Team.
He has also played for Dynamo Bucharest in Romania, Polpharma Starogard Gdansk, Start Lublin and Stelmet Zielona Gora in Poland, and Hapoel Galil Elyon in Israel. Thomasson will make his EuroCup debut with Promitheas.
