ALBA Berlin has completed the signing of Yannick Wetzell on a three-year deal, the club confirmed on Tuesday. Wetzell (2.06 meters, 26 years old) spent the majority of last season playing for the New Zealand Breakers in the Australian League, but he saw out the end of the campaign with Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz of Spain. In 22 games for the Breakers, he averaged 17.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.5 steals during his 33 minutes on the court. Meanwhile, in 11 games for Baskonia, he posted averages of 3.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 13.1 minutes. Wetzell will make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut next season.

Wetzell, a native of New Zealand, split time between St Mary's University, Vanderbilt University and San Diego State University across his five years playing in the NCAA. His professional career got underway in 2020, as he joined South East Melbourne Phoenix of Australia. Then, one year later, he left the Phoenix to join the Breakers.
