The victory also marked the departure of head coach Ergin Ataman, acknowledged after Saturday's win that his next destination is Panathinaikos Athens. Ataman had also led Efes to back-to-back Turkish Airlines EuroLeague titles in 2021 and 2022.
"All my life, I’ve been challenged. Panathinaikos is also a new challenge for me. I will try to represent my country in the best way in Greece," Ataman said, post-game. "Anadolu Efes is my home in basketball and I wish them success for the upcoming season. We wrote a great story for five years."
