Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz bolstered its frontcourt by inking center Maik Kotsar to a two-year deal, the club announced Monday. Kotsar (2.09 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Hamburg Towers, where he averaged 13.4 points on 60.4% two-point shooting, 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 16 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. He led the 2021-22 EuroCup in offensive rebounds (2.9 orpg.) and ranked ninth in PIR (17.2) in his first season in the competition. Kotsat is set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with Baskonia.

Kotsar played for Audentese SG Noortekoondis of his native Estonia and moved to the United States to play for Sunrise Christian Acdemy for a season and for the University of South Carolina for four years, helping it reach the NCAA Tournament Final Four in 2017. He joined Hamburg in 2020 and had been his only professional club until now. Kotsar is also a member of the Estonian national team.
